Mediterranean slice
Chelsea Y.

Small hole in the wall that we inadvertently walked into while waiting for a table downtown. We ordered a Mediterranean slice with tomato, feta, spinach. It beat all of my expectations. Crust was super thin and crispy, feta and tomato added tons of flavor. A bit expensive at 5.50 per slice but definitely will be coming back to try other flavors.

Great pizza for any pizza night! Thin crust and super tasty. Quick and easy too. We absolutely loved the ricotta and meatball-- the dollops of ricotta are so creamy! The supreme is just as good and has all the classic pizza toppings. Big slices which are perfect for any date night or party.

If you are looking for a quick snack, Pizza Spot can fill the bill. If you are looking for a good version of a NY Style slice, keep on walking. The one redeeming quality of this place, which brought it from two to three stars, is the crispy edged pepperoni cups with their signature pools of molten fat. I recognize these are not everyone's cup of tea, so big props to Pizza Spot for using a pepperoni that breaks from the conventional mainstream for the sake of deliciousness and their delightful textural contrast. My pizza loving daughter was so disinterested in her plain cheese slice ($3.50) that she abandoned it half way. I offered her my pepperoni slice ($4.00) which she agreed was the better of the two. It's really the crust that drags down the pies. While it is nicely thin, and even has some good color, you can see from the undercarriage that Pizza Spot uses the dreaded pizza screens. The dough also does not develop enough flavor on its own to carry the pie. Pizza crusts should be delicious, with a nice rise on the end, and a crisp yet tender texture. This had none of that. With 4.5 stars on Yelp, perhaps I went in expecting more. We are still in Michigan after all, and I probably shouldn't expect most people to know good NY Style Pizza. I'll close with the following thought as a public service to my fellow Michiganders: Being thin enough to fold, is not what makes a NY Style slice worth eating. - The below was added on April 4 after hearing from the Business Owner: I am not entirely sure why the business owner felt my review was not legitimate. While I might appreciate the offer a fresh pie to make up for the lackluster slices, I would graciously demure. Just for a little background... on Yelp, I have written over 1,000 reviews and over 100 of those have been for pizza. In Upstate New York, I had the honor of serving as a pizza judge for several years in the Tournament of Pizza. Back in the blog era, and going all the way back to my Chowhound days, I discussed thoughts on pizza extensively. In some ways, I agree with the owner. He has a good point. There are indeed pie shops and slice shops. At Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix you go in and get a whole pie. At Pepe's in New Haven you get a whole pie. At Loui's in Detroit you get a whole pie. At Joe's in New York City? It's slices. Sure, you can get a whole pie, but here is the thing I don't think midwesterners understand about New York Style pizza. It. Is. All. About. The. Slice. What a mind blowing admission to hear from the owner of a New York Style pizza shop that he expects the slices to be mediocre and that they should not be the basis of a review. Might a whole pie fresh out of the oven at Pizza Spot be better than the slices I was served? Maybe. Probably. But when a pizza place claims to make New York Style Pizza and promotes their slices heavily, getting top billing on their sign, receiving prominent placement on their menu, and blazing in neon from the window, I expect the owner to take a little more pride in them. Because in New York the shops that do slices well are amazing! Amazing. It's my personal favorite form of pizza. And it's not just in New York. There are great slice shops found in Philly, New Jersey, and even right here in Ann Arbor! Slices that might sit around for a couple of hours in the case can be restored back to magnificent form in the oven. That second bake crisps up the bottom crust to a thing of beauty that simply cannot be achieved with a pie that's "fresh" out of the oven. To hear slices be disrespected in the comment below was not just deeply upsetting, but also quite telling. I have no reason to return.

I'd recommend a reservation as there isn't that much dining space. We didn't have one, but the wait was only about 15 minutes which was nice. Our server was very friendly and quite attentive so A for service. I had an old fashioned which was very good. One of the better ones I've had. Good pour hahaha. The star of the show was the pizza. I had the pozzuoli. What a pizza. Lots of toppings. Excellent crust. Dough had great flavor. Everything just worked. Better than the pizza I had in Italy. Yes; it's floppy. Grow up. That's how Neapolitan pizza is supposed to be. Personal size, but I was full by the end. Highly recommend. You get your money's worth with the pizza. Very good service. Again; fantastic food.

Even eating in, the pizza is very heavy and bordering soggy. Waiting a few minutes in a box would wreck it. That being said, it is a good pie, but not worth double what other places charge. Salads are good, but have almost no dressing. Servers barely felt like they existed. Having at least one good one could brighten this drab place up. They attract a pretty awful crowd here, too. Some were very loud, others spent their entire meal spreading their spite for being alive. Awful atmosphere. Maybe going late and on the right day would be better. (It comes in a large pizza box) For $10 you get some ooey, gooey, cheesy perfection with a buttery crispy crust and choice of sauce. Note the cheesy goodness in the picture, I couldn't wait to rip into it. My only suggestion, not complaint, would be to provide 2 complimentary sauces with the order instead of one. I am a pizza sauce addict and had already purchased a second sauce for $1.00, but non sauce lovers would probably need extra sauce as well. I will be ordering again soon!! (Maybe in a week or so, my husband says we have food at home )

The online order system is super simple and quick. The order said about 30 minutes and it was ready in about 25. The three gentleman working when I went to pickup were super friendly. The shop was super clean and smelled like fresh herbs (really good). The first test was plain cheese, which was really good. It wasn't greasy or too cheesy, it was perfectly done. Next, we tried the bread. There was a small pile of Parmesan cheese on top and it smelled amazing. The bread was crisp on the outside, but pillowy on the inside. I tried with both the ranch and pizza sauce, while both good, sauce is not entirely necessary. Last, but not least, was the thin crust BLT pizza. It was amazing, and definitely worth more than they are charging. The thin crust was crispy, but still had a little chew. All of the toppings were perfectly cool for veggies and crispy for the bacon. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. We are so happy to have an independent pizza spot just down the road. We look forward to trying more of what they have to offer. If you are looking for a new spot, try here.

It's a great location with an excellent patio and view of the park - as my boyfriend has commented, it "shows well", which I completely agree with. Service has been mixed. One time upon getting takeout there were weirdly insistent that I fill out the tip line on the receipt (I don't tip for takeout generally) in kinda a rude way. When dining in however, service was excellent - constant refills of water, good pacing of apps/entrees, really just perfect all around. I usually order a kids meal for takeout (my dirty little secret) and the prices/portions/value are good. Most recently upon dining in I had the capellini and thought it was unexciting but solid. I really do like how they offer a choice of soup or salad with an entree; I had the salad (good) and my dad had the soup (excellent). The free bread basket is also a nice touch although they need way more of a balsamic/oil ratio - it's like 95% oil. My dad had one of the pasta specials and it was to die for. Overall it's a nice-ish spot with great atmosphere, mixed service, and okay food. I'll likely be back but I'm not super into the place
