Like everybody else I linked up through Home Depot. They quoted me $1041 and actually set up the appointment for the next day. The phone rep had told me that certain things might be necessary at an extra charge for code compliance, etc. The installer looked over the situation and made a phone call to someone in his office regarding the city code in my town. I could tell from the side of the conversation that I could hear and the body language of the installer that this was a "see how much you can add on" exercise. Granted there were some things that were necessary to meet city code but I was skeptical about much of it. When the installer was finished with his estimate he had $1505 in additional charges. I said that this was too much and sent him along his way. I did ask him for a copy of our city code, which he provided. Along with $375 additional labor there were other exorbitant prices. I was told that the pressure relief valve drain would require 35 feet of 1 inch pvc. The city code states "must run outside if possible." Mine already runs outside. The price for the 1 inch pvc was $11.25 per foot. One inch pvc retails for 40 cents per foot. Fittings and connections that would have been required for this would probably retail for about $4. I was told the overflow pan would require an additional 35 feet of pvc. The reason he stated does not match with the city code. I was told that my vent pipe needed to be replaced - 6 feet at $35 per foot. Vent pipe retails for about $5 per foot. A new drip pan - $75. Plastic ones are $10 and aluminum $18. The only reason I gave this company two stars is because they did meet the appointment time and the tech was very courteous. read more

Terrible company with rude employees. But that's not the problem. They got caught in a lie and tried to save face. They didn't think I would call the city to try to find out how much a permit is and more than doubled the price on me. When confronted, they first told me that the price is correct, then upon pressing, told me that the difference is what they charge to file the permit. They are dishonest and I'm not sure that they didn't over charge me in everything read more

We had a water heater installed, but after the city inspected, it did not pass the inspection... so we scheduled for SDWH to come fix it, but they did not schedule for a fix but for an inspection... so we rescheduled for today sometime between 9am and 6pm weeks later. My phone was silenced on appoin day and I missed a phone call at 8:30am but there was no message I called the number but no answer. I called around 4:30pm and the CSR rep said the plumber called but nobody answered so he went on with his day. So now we have another appt scheduled for December! #sofrustrated read more

I had a very nice experience with Same Day Water Heater. I was a bit hesitant to use them at first, because of some of the reviews I'd read. So before making the appointment, I discussed my concerns with one of the company's reps on the phone. He provided an estimate over the phone but reiterated that the final cost could vary based on what might be needed in order to pass city inspection (it might be a few dollars more or a few hundred). He also said that if I didn't like the final price, I was under no obligation have the work done. The installer, Keith, was very professional and friendly. The job was completed within 2 hours, and I felt like Keith did a great job (he mentioned he'd been specializing in water heater installations for over 15 years). My cost out the door was about $300 more than the original estimate I received over the phone BUT $120 of that was for the permit with the city of Dallas... the remainder was for some parts needed in order to pass inspection. Keith reused several items that he said were still in good condition (drip pan, vent pipe) A big bonus is that i was able to use my Home Depot credit card to pay for it and take advantage of 0% interest financing. read more

Needed a new hot water heater since mine started leaking water everywhere. Went through Home Depot and SDWH did the install. Initial price over the phone was $1050. They indicated the installer would review any additional costs with me before the work started at which point I could accept the additional costs or decline the work entirely. SDHW shows up and adds $500 to the cost to "bring it up to current codes" and parts/labor, which puts me at $1550. I obviously could have rejected, but they were there, ready to install, and I didn't want to hassle with getting quotes from other plumbers. It just left me wondering what the original $400 installation cost included. It apparently didn't include any new parts that would typically be replaced as part of a new hot water heater install. It must only include basic labor to remove the old hot water heater (in a garage) and basic labor to install a new hot water heater using all existing hardware/parts and it assumes everything is currently up to code. The cost didn't sit well with me, but I didn't want to waste time finding alternatives. On the plus side, they were early, they did good work, all parts are now new, and it took only about 90 minutes once they started. The takeaway from my experience...if you're making a decision based upon the initial estimate, be prepared for a few hundred dollars of additional costs as evidenced by other reviews. Update: About 3 weeks after the work was complete I went out to shut-off the water to my house only to find the shut-off valve was broken. I know the day before the plumber was there, it was not broken, as I turned the water off myself and turned it back on later. There hasn't been anyone use it since, and I know he was out there messing with it during the water heater replacement. It was very nice of him to break my shut-off valve and not bother to tell me. What a joke of a company. Changing my rating from 3 stars to 1 star. read more

Called Home Depot yesterday to get a quote for an installation from several companies. Even had a plumber come out to take a look. Plumber said everything looked great and we were up to code, no changes needed. Same Day Water Heaters quoted a price of $1023 to install the water heater and they scheduled the appointment for today. When he arrived, he pulled out his clipboard with his sheet that was set up with the "quoted price" at the top and a list of about 30 "upgrades" with pricing at the bottom. They then told me they needed to do hundreds of dollars MORE to get the water heater installed. They did read a script at the end of my call with them yesterday that there could be additional things needed to bring it up to code, but based on what the plumber said - there was nothing necessary to do so. Essentially, this is a scam and a complete bait and switch. I will be letting Home Depot know this is happening with their customers. PS. I sent them away and am having another company do the install. I don't care if it costs more, at least it will be HONEST! Edit: To reply to the company's comment below: 1. I did speak with the supervisor, Tania, while the technician was at my home. She did not offer any resolution except to tell me I was read a script and "should have known". 2. I did call back anonymously and asked what these guarantees meant. They are a price matching mechanism to others' costs. Same day water heaters DOES offer the cheapest price, which is why we went with them. But when you factor in the hundreds in "upgrades" that were not accounted for in the original quote, that story quickly changes. 3. There is absolutely no way I would let this company come back and do the work, even if they offered to do it for free. If they are willing to treat this part of their business this way, there is no telling what kind of shortcuts they are willing to take when actually doing the work. We're talking gas lines here, which is nothing to take lightly. We went with another company who was nice and were honest about their price. read more

Buyer beware!!!! Same as other fellow Yelpers. $1,001 quote from Home Depot; $1,387 from SDWH (39% HIGHER!) I threw him out! Told him to leave and I called someone (anyone) else. It kind of made me feel good. I've never done that before. Called another competitor that bid $100 less (they didn't know about this first one). They came out the next day with the same unit and when done, the quote was off by $50 IN MY FAVOR! I was so happy for their honesty, I tipped them the difference. Still saved $100 I you want to make the same as Lawyers, GO TO LAW SCHOOL! Guess the SDWH dude was the loser in my deal, not me. read more

We trusted Home Depot, and they should be ashamed of themselves allowing this company on their installer list. These people are crooks in my opinion. They are slick and hide costs, make it almost impossible to determine if you're being practically robbed until it's too late. Our $765 water heater ended up costing $1900 with inflated prices on everything. $75 for a $20 drip pan, $90 for a $60 permit that the city said hadn't been filed, $339 for a $150 flood stop valve. The receipt they give doesn't break down separate cost for the part, labor, and tax, but rather total of all three. Don't even think about using these people. read more

Bottom line is, I got taken. This company does installation for Home Depot. That is how I came to hire them. A lot of the trouble is my fault for not thinking of things until later, I should have realized them before. Case in point - the plumber claimed he needed to move the plumbing because the new water heater was too tall for the fixtures' location. I should have remembered that water heaters come in different heights. A shorter one could have been arranged - the new water heater was not brought by the plumber, he called to have it delivered after the job of removing the old one had begun. Also, the plumber claimed a number of things did not meet building code, which cost extra. Not sure what could have been done about those - the next plumber may or may not tell you the same things. I didn't have a choice but to go along with them. In any case, I shelled out over $500 for the extras. On the bright side, the work was finished quickly and the crew cleaned up after themselves. Small solace, though. Let the buyer beware. read more

I purchased 2 hot water heaters from Home Depot in March, the installation was with Same Day Water Heaters; the installation was great. Today I took off work only to get the 3rd Red Tag on the installation. So between staying home for the original install, 3 City of Frisco visits and now sitting at home this Saturday to wait in their repair "window" for them to fix this issues from hopefully the last Red Tag repair I am extremely disappointed. I called Home Depot on and off for 4 hours to report the issues to a manager and got no one. At 5pm I did speak with a manager on duty. read more

Ordered two Rheem Platinum (12 year) water heaters from Home Depot on Aug. 28, 2018. Had doctor's appointment on 8/29, so they arranged for installation by Same Day on today - Aug. 30. Showed up this morning on time, went upstairs to check on heaters. First guy went up in the attic and second guy wrote down what he shouted. Then presented me with an estimate of $920 above what was quoted on Aug. 28 for heaters and installation. I said I'd have to verify what they said was needed before approving installation, and they left. Got hold of Plano Building Inspectors, and then their master plumber. Read off what was on the $920. First was $250 for added labor because of attic. This was included in original quote, as verified later by Same Day representative. Then read off the list of additional $670 items recommended. Plano master plumber inspector said $138 for sediment traps were not an item they recommend, and that I already had all the other items. None were needed. So basically, they wanted to redo the entire connection system with new parts at my expense, payment in advance. Right!! Reported same to Same Day plumbing representative, and he ran around like a chicken with his head cut off - putting me on hold, reconnecting to ask for more time, more hold. I finally told him I was just doing him the courtesy of telling him what I was going to report to Home Depot. I was no longer interested in their services. Contacted Home Depot. They could have cared less. Said that Same Day handled all their installations in North Texas. Wasn't interested in my contact info or the reference number for the order - which I finally forced on him. Basically he was in a hurry to do something else. Obviously I'll look elsewhere for my water heater replacement. I suggest you do the same. Wish there was a zero star for rating. read more

Installed the water heater. I paid full price for the installation. There was a pre-existing leak, I had a different work crew open the wall and there was a simple ring missing causing the leak. They wanted to charge me $220 to put a new ring on. I argued with them and they dropped the price to $190. I had no choice to agree. Do not recommend at all. I found the HW heater I wanted at Home Depot and called the number for their installation partner Same Day Hot Water Heater. The initial estimate was an exaggerated markup from $997 to $1355. I rejected it and called their Rep's to complain. They promised to send someone else to do a second estimate. The guys showed up expecting to do an install. When I told them I wanted an estimate, the guy without even looking at my HW heater said it would be $1556 to "bring it up to code" plus the install. Beware of these guys. read more

Horrible Horrible Horrible!!! Used Same Day Water Heaters through the Home Depot website. They came out and were unable to install a water heater same day. Another team came out a couple days later to install (don't expect same day or even next day install). They left a mess behind and had shoved our vent pipe up on the roof (apparently this can happen when installing a new water heater). Since a vent pipe is not considered "plumbing", they will not fix this after they shove it up. They will make you pay for another company (if you can even find one) to come out and reseal the vent pipe so rain does not get in. They offered a "friend" that could possibly come and fix the vent for a charge, but the "friend" won't get on a two story house. I've called over 12 companies and only one would even take this project on, with a minimum charge of $350. Ended up having to file a claim with Home Depot. If you hire them and they say someone else needs to come out to fix something they did, DO NOT sign any of their documents/waivers. Very disappointed, wished Home Depot would screen who they contract with. Don't expect full service at all. read more

Our two water heaters in the attic were on the verge of breaking down. I got a few quotes from local plumbing companies and then called Lowe's and Home Depot. Home Depot price was the lowest and the work was done by Same Day Water Heaters. The two guys were polite, courteous and quick. They did the job and we had no issues of any kind. They didn't make stories about extra work to be done or didn't charge us for modifications or try to up sell. read more

Worst experience ever! Don't call Home Depot for water heater installation. Check on the yellow page and have a certified plumber to do the job. Same day water heater is a hired contractor by Home Depot . They came to my house to instal the water heater. They added another $400 to Home Depot estimate and after few hours working on installation they left my house without testing the water heater!! Few hours later I noticed water heater was not working! I called them many times and left messages. Nobody returned my call. The day after I had to call Home Depot and finally they send out a tech to fix it. Unprofessional and expensive and for sure not a same day installation! read more

I've had trouble reaching them, but after numerous calls and emails I got through.

I bought a water heater through Home Depot on Friday. They set me up for installation with this company on Saturday morning. My husband and I both were unavailable to be at the house. I called twice to get rescheduled, no calls back. Finally got a hold of someone Monday morning, was told Noon to 5pm on Tuesday would be when someone could come out. Not 'same day' at all. Nor did anyone return my phone calls from Saturday or Sunday. We have been without hot water since Thursday. Hopefully we will have it back on Tuesday night...... I did get a very concerned call from the company offering a $59 credit for inconvenience. When they came out to replace the water heater that I had purchased at Home Depot, the final cost was OVER TWICE as much as I was quoted on the phone. Got out at around $1700. read more

Home Depot Installation Services sent them to install my Water Heater and to bring it up to code. The install was very quick and professional. However I have a reason for only three stars instead of five. The markup on parts seems to me to be very excessive. Charged $159.00 for a stand and $75.00 for a drip pan I could have bought from the Home Depot store for $59.00 and $19.00 respectively. read more

I love Home Depot but an so disappointed in this installation company I doubt I will use Home Depot again until they change companies. First of all I was suppose to be first in the schedule between 9-1. When I hadn't heard anything I called. They were going to get ahold of the plumber to get a time. They told me he got hung up on a job and wouldn't be here until after 2. When he called he said it would be about 3 dinner he had to go get the water heater. I asked about the delay and he said they never gave him my ticket until after I called around noon. I called the company and they said dispatch messed up. Second, Just like everyone else the possible "extra"charges ended up being over 700 dollars. Since I had a water heater leaking everywhere I had no choice but to agree. 3) I gave asked TWICE for my invoice with an itemization of what I purchased to be emailed, mailed, whatever to me for my records... And still nothing. 3) it was suppose to be inspected today by the city. Called them to get an idea of a Time. The inspector was incredible nice and when he looked into both system there was no permit, appointment nothing! They never even filled for it. So now I get to fight that battle too! STAY AWAY from them!! read more

Get ready to be ripped off. They will install extra stuff (pretending not to know the building and plumbing code related to water heaters) and if you notice they will refund you for what they over-charged you. The only complaint I have is with their dispatchers. As far as work performed by techs they did an excellent job. Due to age of home I had a few items that needed to be brought up to code which I was aware of. The service techs did not try to sell me anything I did not need. Techs fully explained what additional work was needed for code and did not proceed until I agreed. After the install they answered all my questions and cleaned up after themselves. read more

Don't do it. I got a quote on the phone of $333 to install a purchased water heater from Home Depot. The technician called ahead to let us know he was on the way, all good there. My neighbor's water broke this am. They contacted Same Day through Home Depot. We have 10 units that share the same water supply so my neighbor reached out to us to let us know they needed to shut the water off. I was just about to get in the shower as I was getting ready for work when i got the call. She also said Same Day couldn't locate the shut off. I told her I was about to shower but I would show them where it was. I could have showered first, but I said i would show them first if they gave me 10 minutes before shutting it off. I came outside and showed them, but by the time i walked back into my house they had already shut the water off. I just thought that showed a real lack of courtesy and professionalism. Stay away from this instillation company. Hire an experienced plumber to save yourself problems.

I went through Home Depot for the water heater. Home Depot quoted me $963. for a Rheem 50 gal. with a 12 yr. warranty. It costs about $680. in store so the remaining $283 was for installation. The lady told me it could be hundreds of dollars more depending on what they had to do on installation. Next day the man that was installing quoted me $1373 because of extras he had to do. After I got my invoice and talked to my regular plumber he said they had really gouged me with the extras. They charged me $410 for the what should have been around $75 and that was with a little mark up. I'm going back on them. Same Day Water Heater says if I can get a licensed plumber to beat their amount then they will refund me the difference and give me a $50 Home Depot gift card. That where I am at the moment, waiting on their credit. Be careful if you have to deal with them. read more

This company was sent to us by Home Depot with a quoted price of $308 to install/replace a short, 38 gallon water heater outside, which we picked up from HD ourselves. After reading the reviews on the Home Depot website for the companies who installed water heaters for them, we decided to purchase our own parts to eliminate the potential of being overcharged by the particular company we were referred to. We then called Home Depot again to let them know we had purchased our own parts and wanted to verify the total - they confirmed it would be $308. Same Day Water Heater did use the pan we bought, but not any of the other parts. The price they charged for the extra parts turned out to be $150 even though they used our pan - a 50% increase in price. They charged $72 for a water shut off valve and $69 for 2 water supply lines (the last company we used just last month for a water heater at another home charged us $28 for 4 long water supply lines). Thank goodness we did purchase our own pan ahead of time - their cost if they supply one is $75. We wouldn't use them again due to inflated parts prices (and they didn't give us the prices for those parts until after the job was done). read more

I wish I could give 0 star to the same day water heaters company. And I wish I had read the reviews for this company before agree to work with them. Their tech was the rudest and the most unprofessional person I ever seen in my entire life. The water heater was bend when delivered and when I asked what happened he rudely said it is what it is get over it. During the whole time of installation he act rude and was harry to finish the job as soon as possible. The same as most people reviews, their charge was $220 for $30 extra supplies. I told him the the night before I went to home depot to buy the same supplies for fraction of that amount and they told me I don't have to buy anything and the tech will bring everything needed and charge me the same price as I pay to the home depot. After talking to the same day water heater company manager (whom was rude too), and arguing about high price of supplies for 20 minutes and listing to the managers' disrespectful accusations that"I want to use them and get free staffs from them and calling me ans scammer he reduce the price of supplies to $100. AT THE END, they did not care about bend on the water heater and did not give any discount for that. They charged several times more for price of extra supplies they used (when actually the could use the most of the old one). The tech never gave me any information about the new water heater and did not show me temperature setting and how to adjust it ( as they have it in their printout form "what to expect"). Did not give the warranty (9 years) and did not show me the old parts that he replaced. He rudely tear the contract and throw the pages on the table and told me you don't need to sign just pay me. He asked for credit card and when I said I will pay with check, he got angry again and said "you make everything hard for me"!!. He left the house while he was looking in the side mirror of his truck and cussing at me loud. It was the worst experience I had in my entire life. I called the Home Depot supervisor to complain and she said what do you want me to do? You have the water heater that is working now forget about the bad experience with the tech (Cody), or if you want we can send some one to take the water heather out and you find another company to install it for you. Oh how I wish I had read reviews before hiring them...as stated by others, we went through HOME DEPOT and this is who they had call us. The water heater was $650. in the store. When I asked the guy at home depot how much it would be for the installation he said he couldn't tell me exact but that it usually range between $250-$300. However, when the guy came out from SAME DAY WATER HEATERS he went up in attic and looked and said it would be close to $1800 for the water heater and all the stuff he had to do...Shocked but by this time we'd been without hot water for about a week... When he finished installing, he proceeds to tell me that we would need to have someone come out and patch the hole in the roof because when he pushed the water heater through it left an opening whereby water could get through and that it wouldn't pass inspection that way. WHAT??? Okay, so we hire someone to go up and fix it because the guy from SAME DAY WATER HEATERS said he'd scheduled inspection for that Thursday and also it was scheduled to rain. when the roofer went up and looked he took pictures and said he had never seen anything like it before...the hole was so large that a large animal could get through and that there was no way the installer should have left it that way. I could go on and on...my husband looked at the invoice from SAME DAY WATER HEATERS and the upcharge was ridiculous!! He went and actually priced them... all the parts only cost a little over $100. They had charged us close to $600. It has been a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and it's not over yet because we are having to dispute the charge of nearly $1800. Did I mention that to fix the hole in the roof was $400 and that no inspector ever came out(which was a included in SAME DAY WATER HEATERS quote)...I just have to stop because I could go on and on about it!!! read more

Same day Water Heater provides a quote, calls me to tell me the plummer was at the house ready to do installation. First of all I drive from the office while he is in the truck on his phone and wait 20 minutes. Tells me he has already inspected the heater in the garage and wanted to see upstairs. I show upstairs heater and he scribbles on an estimate sheet and tells me the price is $2,509.98 for the $1,620.98 quoted. He is rude beyond any expectation and I said it kind sounds like a bait and switch can I see the quote. He storms down the stairs and says he doesn't have to listen to bait and switch; but I insist on seeing the quote. He storms out and wants my car moved so he can get out of the driveway. As I am walking down the driveway he continues to move his truck to block my path so I have to walk around the car to move it. Now we look at the estimate and he has the wrong city listed for obtaining a permit. Further we check out local city requirements; out of the 11 items he claimed needed to be replaced; we could find ONLY 2. Confirming this was a bait and switch. read more

Was quoted a "firm" price which stated that I could incur additional charges for little incidentals that they needed. Yes, to the tune of $280.00. That was the charge for 2 supply lines,($69.00), tip union($69.00, $5.77 at Home Depot), gas flex($72.00) and gas sed. trap ($69.00). Home Depot had a kit which included everything except the tip union for $31.47. So $31.47 + $5.77=$37.24. I,was charged $280.00! This is parts only, labor separate!!! It is highway robbery. I was told by a floor assistant at Home Depot to report this when I went in today to purchase another water heater for another part of the house.i am going to contact BBB, Angie's List and Home Depot corporate. I did question the installer at the time and he said that the prices were competetive. Do not use this company!!! I also, had to remind him twice to calculate in my retired military discount. These are the folks who install water heaters for Home Depot. Their schedule setter took significant time to ask me all kinds of questions about my install, but after waiting 2 days for them to get here, I was very disappointed to be told my installation was too complicated for them to do, and that I needed to hire a plumber! What? They sent two guys out to install a water heater in a attic who are not plumbers? Had their installer mentioned this was even the most remote possibility, I would have gone elsewhere. As it was, I ended up waiting yet two more days to finally get someone out here to do the job (it was not this company). So these guys may be just great for the most simple installation, but do beware if you have anything at all more complicated than that; they are not qualified, and they are not allowed to attempt the work. I called Home Depot to contract the installation of a water heater, and they use "Same Day Water Heaters" as their subcontractor. After my call to Home Depot, I was contacted within the hour by "SDWH". The person on the phone was nice and courteous, and gave me a price to install a 40gal/9yr water heater in my attic. I thought the price was reasonable considering I needed it done quickly due to the fact that my old heater leaked the night before and caused some ceiling damage. I was informed that I might have to purchase additional parts to bring the new system to code, and that the installer would inform me prior to the installation. After arriving and inspecting the old heater, I was informed that I needed the following to bring my new system to code. Two water supply lines or flex hoses that can be purchased at HD for approx. $13.00 each. Their price, $69.00. A cold water cut off valve that can be purchased for approx. $12.00. Their price $72.00. A gas flex hose that can be purchased for approx. $25.00. Their price $72.00. A gas sediment trap that can be purchased for approx. $7.00. Their price $69.00. These additional parts added an additional $282.00 to the quoted price on the phone of $915.00 bringing the total to $1197.00. Be aware, that most likely, these 4 items will be added to your quoted price for the installation of a new water heater. The other part about this install is that you'll receive a white sheet explaining What to Expect before the installation, during the installation and after the installation. This sheet was given to me after the install was complete and payment had been made. The items labeled "After the Installation" is where this company failed miserably. There's a total of 19 items on this sheet to be checked off and initialed by the installer and customer. None of this was done and I wasn't even aware of this sheet till they were gone. Of the 8 items under "After the Installation, I will:" , they only completed one, and the info they gave me about that one was wrong. This appears to be a company that doesn't do what they say they are going to do. Buyer beware. read more
