Gabriel, out technician, called ahead to let us know when he would arrive. He was friendly, kind, respectful, and very efficient! We were only scheduled for a tune-up, but Gabriel immediately noticed a problem with the igniter and was able to work directly with AHS so that he could service the furnace immediately, rather than having to wait for another appointment. I submitted a ticket with American Home Shield Warranty and they had someone from Same Day Air Conditioning & Heating reach out to me to set up an appointment regarding a clicking noise I was hearing whenever the heater was turned on. Gabriel was dispatched to my home. He was courteous and even brought his own shoe covers upon entering. He carried his ladder up 3 flights of stairs with care, ensuring it did not damage any of my walls. He made his way to the attic to assess the issue. Turns out, the noise came from a PVC pipe that was pushed into the wood structure every time the heated duct expanded. To fix this, he re-positioned the pipe away from the wood. Since he was already up there, I asked him if he could take a look at a closet ceiling leak that I recently noticed and confirm the water source. Sure enough, there was a leak in the pipe which he was able to seal. He asked that I wait 2 hours for the glue to dry before turning on the heater and to give the company a call back if the clicking noise was still present. Waited a couple days for the glue to dry (just to be on the safe side) but unfortunately still heard the clicking. It wasn't as strong as before but still present. Scheduled another appointment. He came back to move the pipe even further from the wood but mentioned the original builder did not do a good job with the piping layout so he was limited on how far the pipe could be pushed back. Luckily the clicking noise had finally stopped (phew). He noticed the heater frequently turning off on its own so he proceeded to the furnace to check the air filter and found it was completely covered in a layer of thick dust and also installed incorrectly (by previous homeowners). He showed me the correct airflow direction and recommended that I stop by Home Depot to pick up a new filter since likely the trapped dust was causing the heater to act sporadicly and circulating dust within the home. In short, I initially had 1 issue that I called in for and he ended up fixing 3! :) read more

As we were doing pavers on our back yard, and we wanted to relocate our condenser to the side yard. Same day was very responsive and they offered a prompt free estimate. Their quote was not the cheapest nor the highest, and I chose them because of the good reviews. However, they seemed to cut corners in the work, they only connected the wires to the old cable without redoing the connection on the furnace. Now we have a switch box basically useless and all the old wires in the middle and looking weird. They did mention the wires will be connected in the crawl space during the free estimate but they should have specifically told me they didn't plan to connect the furnace from new location and how the wires look like after work is done. read more

UPDATE: Sam, the owner reached out and refunded the charge! Great customer service and warrants an extra star!! ============== Our AC suddenly stopped working and after some research we found out we have a dead capacitor. I reached out to several places to schedule an appointment and Same Day Air was able to schedule me for the next day. Mohammad came within the scheduled time and confirmed the issue was a dead capacitor. All is great up to this point until he told me how much it would cost to do the work: $249! Before I scheduled the appointment, I asked how much it would cost for the estimate and to replace the capacitor and I was told $79 flat rate. It turned out that the $79 is service fee which will be waived if we do the work. $124/$129 is the part cost and the rest is labor and tax. I know capacitor is cheap, you can buy one yourself for $15-20 and I know these companies would mark up part price, but marking up the part 5x the original cost is absurd! As a reference, another company quoted me $49 for the capacitor. We still decided to let him do the work, knowing that we are getting ripped off, just because it would be a hot weekend and we don't want to wait a couple more days for someone else to come in. It took 15 minutes for him to do the work and our AC is now working again. If they are giving a fair price, I would've loved to give them a much better rating! In summary, easy to schedule appointment(1 *), technician comes on time(1 *), AC is fixed(1 *). Price gauging is what lands them in the 3* category. read more

The tech started out well. After assessing my system, he said a circuit board had a short and a fan assembly had a problem. He described 2 repair options costing around $5K or around $2K. After more looking around in my HVAC system, he finished the assessment. He asked for my card to pay for the visit. I asked for the estimates and their details. He sent 1 quote that totaled just under $900. He proceeded to leave, after taking payment. I went to his truck to ask if he would would put the panels back on. I have an American Home Shield Home Warranty and this was the assigned vendor. When I called for service the nice lady ( not sure this is right spelling ) Ponab was very gracious. Because of the severe heat she told me it would be several days go an appointment. I told her I understood and asked if there were a cancellation we would appreciate it as my wife and I are in our 70's and sheltered in place. 2days later she called and told me she was sending Gabriel this afternoon. Great customer service. Johnny Guiterez is the AC tech that came out to check out a leak in the AC. Turns out the water pump was not working and looked to be clogged. He cleaned up and looked like was working. An hr later I went to check and it was leaking again. I called them again and Johnny headed back to the house to check out the problem. He found out that the water pump is broken and stops draining and jams. He was able to find a solution to patch it temporary to get it working so that is does not leak over the weekend until we get the replacement part next week to swap it out. Johnny came out today to service our AC and I really appreciated the service he gave our family. He was really quick in diagnosing the problem. Besides the actual work in getting our AC running again, he was really proactive in showing me what had failed and explaining how things work and what he was going to do. In my experience, other companies' technicians aren't that proactive in explaining details beyond general information. In addition, after the fix, he did additional checks like check the refrigerant pressures and the temp of the air coming out of the vents (he showed me both readings and explained the normal ranges). They incorrectly diagnosed the problem that rodents had chewed the wire and told the same to our warranty who refused to cover it. We don't have any rodents. We contacted another HVAC company (independent of warranty) They came and fixed the problem easily and told us the root cause wasn't what "same day air condition & heating" had diagnosed.
