Had lunch with old coworkers and I must say that I love their nachos and Italian eggrolls. The nachos were perfect for me and honestly want to go back right now for them. The sauce and toppings were spread evenly on top and it wasn't crazy salty, or taste burnt. Appetizers were so good, there were high expectations set for the Royale Burger, but alas, I liked the stringy onions that came with it the most. So nice and sweet. As for drinks, they have alot of options, from beer to drinks decorated with candy. I kept it simple and ordered a Sam Adams and then a drink that a portion of will go to charity. Always do charity when I can. My friends loved the presentation of their dishes and noted the drinks were strong (thumbs up!). Was in Woburn over the weekend & happened to come across Sam Walker's, didn't seem to be too many places in the area; so we went a few times. 1st time, staff was great, super accommodating. 2nd time, beer was nice & cold, food was delicious, 3rd time was as we were getting ready to head out. They had just opened, was quite empty but the bartender was just awful, saw us sitting but didn't come by, she did it multiple times & when she came to take our order, was extremely snotty & not pleasant at all. Located conveniently down the street from Lord Hobo and is right off the highway with a large parking lot. Was able to grab a seat at the bar without waiting. The service is really good and the bartender was quick to give us the menus. The restaurant feels modern and relaxed. Everything on the menu looked good, the Cue Combo caught my eye. Party of 5 of us made reservations for 3:45 on 1/17. We were seated near the bar area to watch the game and have dinner. Server came over to us a short while after to explain that they also have 30 people reserved for 7 and that we had to leave by 7. She said " 3hrs should be enough ". If you're a paying customer, you shouldn't have to leave! The food and waiter was excellent, but we all felt rushed as we were told we had to leave by a certain time. Our group came from all different parts of the state and some had over a 2hr ride just to get there. They couldn't accommodate us to another table. "Famous Wings" buffalo style: "meh" is overstating them. Seven decent sized wings. Not crispy. Sauce had some flavor, but was scarce. Average at best. Carrots/celery w blue cheese: average. $34 for the one order of wings with one vodka drink including 20% tip. No value here - seems overpriced for what you get. Brunch? OVERRATED. Went with a big table for brunch... the people at the door were kind, but clueless to our long-standing reservation. Once sat, the server was incredible, sweet, attentive 10/10. The food... Ordered the "famous" French Toast Sticks - only one of the 3 orders came with the Mascarpone Dip, which is mentioned on the menu. The breakfast burrito was fine, but do not get a side of Guac. For $3 you get barely a teaspoon of guac that is already brown. The drinks were highly inconsistent in quality and strength.. one would be great, the next tasted like it was virgin and then back again to fine. The original 10/10 server asked one person at the end of the table if we wanted desert and when she said no we were snuck the bill and they ran away. When the rest of us said we wanted one more round the server's whole demeaner changed... (this was not the end of his shift and he had multiple empty tables around us). We sat at the bar and split the nachos and added buffalo chicken. They were sheet pan-style (my favorite) with ample toppings on every chip! For my entree, I ordered the steak & avocado salad. The salad was huge and steak was cooked to a perfect medium as requested. My husband's fried chicken sandwich was enormous and he kept commenting on how good it was while he was eating it. Selected Sam Walker's for Sunday brunch before going to get our Christmas tree. The restaurant was fairly busy, around 12:30 but we were seated quickly. I ordered a burger, cooked medium, came out of the kitchen basically raw. When the wait staff returned to check our meals she acted like I was being unreasonable. Then took the burger to the manager. There was no apology just that I would need to wait for another one to be cooked. My daughter had already gotten her food. Her biscuit was served with no butter/jam. This is a no-frills type of place that gives warm and cozy service. The cost of the menu items is affordable and the plus is a variable list of draft beers. A hiccup in service would be with the host staff. Upon walk in we were told there was a 20-30 minute wait without a reservation for a table for two. But as soon I went on OpenTable there were a generous amount of open reservations. I quickly selected one and was seated promptly. Why make people wait when you have open reservations? But I digress..... The food overall is a 7 out of 10. I would come back if I wanted a simple "southern" style meal for breakfast. Cinnabon pancakes: my husband loved the fluffy richness of them. I felt like they were missing an underlying sweetness and certainly did not taste anything like a Cinnabon. The hopes for the glaze and drizzle to set the flavor profile also disappointed me. French Toast: the selection of thick toast (possibly brioche) was a good choice on their part but unfortunately was overcooked and the exterior was crunchy (almost burnt). Because of the off-putting texture, it was hard and the prominent semi-burnt flavor caused this dish to flop for us. Chicken and waffles: the chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The breading if you can see was almost burnt (or at least the blood burned) but a flavorful favorite. The waffles must have come from the same batter as the pancakes so it wasn't anything to die for. My husband loved the flavors of the waffles more than me. Overall this was our favorite dish from brunch and will more than likely order this one often. Mimosas (Not pictured): unfortunately the mimosas can be skipped. The cheap Prosecco was beyond bitter the supplemental juice selections weren't rich in flavor to balance the drink. We will be back to try other options and are happy to have found such a gem outside of Boston. read more

Recently we held mini high school class of 1966 reunion at Sam Walkers. The management and staff were so accommodating in providing an environment where classmates could mingle or sit and enjoy appetizers and dinner. The food was excellent as was the service. We had two servers who were friendly. professional and attentive. The food was delicious with a wide variety to choose from. Try the Italian egg rolls. I met up with a friend here and for some reason based on the name I envisioned this place being divey. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised with the aesthetic. They have their own private space, jumbo parking lot and it's huge on the outside and the inside. Lots of TV's and it has a modern American feel to it. It's clean and it was pretty busy (went on a Friday night). After scoping it out I assumed the food MUST be good. It's hard to imagine a nice, clean, modern American bar with average food. But my experience with the food was average. We started off with chips and guac, which felt overpriced at $15. Standard chips, guac was just okay (although my friend wouldn't shut up about them). For entrees we ordered the Carolina Style Pulled Pork plate (which comes with carolina bbq sauce, cole slaw, whipped potatoes, cucumber salad and texas toast) and a Braised pork with rice and mushrooms. The pulled pork wasn't all that and I mostly finished it because I don't like to waste food, the toast and potatoes were bland. The BBQ sauce saved the meal entirely. The braised pork was pretty good and I'd order that again if I returned. Overall, I didn't feel like I got my moneys worth. If I lived closer, I might give it a shot with cautious optimism. read more

Beautiful place! It looks relatively new, with very nice decorations and I love the plants all around. We sat at a table near the windows and it gives you the best of both worlds of sitting inside but with a nice summer breeze. I wasn't particularly happy with my drink. I had the good n you and at first I liked it but soon into the drink it started to taste watered down which seems to be the pattern among drinks with seltzer or soda in them. The straw is pretty cool and makes you feel like a kid again. We ordered all apps starting with the burnt ends quesadilla. My friend really hyped up this dish but I thought it was alright. It wasn't cheesy enough for me which I thought would be the case from the name and I could really only taste the brisket. Even then the brisket had a funky chipotle flavor to it which I was not a fan of. Next we tried the ahi tuna poke stack. To be fair, I'm not the biggest fan of raw fish, but the ready why I didn't like it was because it was too salty; I think the soy sauce the fish was marinated in was a bit too overpowering. But it was a very pretty dish. Last but not least, we had the Buffalo chicken dip which was my favorite. The chicken was pulled to a paste, the salty level was just right, maybe it could have used more cheese, but the flavor was right. How many mediocre restaurants have been at the Best Western in Woburn? Too many, but no more. I am here to tell you that Sam Walker's is is anything but mediocre. Between the friendly service and the amazing food this place is a win!!! I had the Short Rib with Truffle Mac n Cheese and it was to die for, soft and tender short rib and creamy gooey M&C, topped with onion strings. She had a BBQ sampler with burnt ends and pulled pork... I wish I had ordered THAT. Incredible bbq!!! With sweet potato fries, cornbread, slaw. She said it was among the best bbq she has had, and she loves bbq. The one drawback, it is noisy as all get out. That is a good news/ bad news problem, as they are busy, which will keep them around, but if you are looking for quiet conversation, this ain't your place. All that said, it's great food and drinks, at an affordable price. (Well, except for the $19 manhattans). People at Sam Walker's, know that we will be back. read more

Parking can be rough depends on what time you go , no worries there's a best western next door, you can park there if need be. Nice place to grab a drink and some food - nachos were awesome! Wasn't to keen on the pull pork but loved the brisket. My wife got the steak tips very happy with them. Our waiter Liz was quick, very pleasant and accommodating very awesome ! This was all around such a great experience- my sister and I sat at the bar and while they were absolutely busy there was still time to laugh with the bartenders. Our food was amazing, best burrata presentation I've ever seen- and a HUGE portion. I got the Ahi tuna which was fresh and delightful, and for dinner we split the salmon, and that was decent too! A friend and I tried Sam Walker's a couple days after their grand opening. Their American + BBQ inspired menu looked intriguing and we were hoping to catch the Boston Bruins game in a tv. The inside was spacious, and there were plenty of TVs to be able to watch sports from most angles of the restaurant and bar. The decor was nice and clean and the staff was polite. Great modern/Southern style tavern in terms of decor and design. We started with the fried pickles. These were super greasy. They tasted fine but the amount of grease on them was a bit off putting. My friend ordered the double cut pork chop and I had ordered the 1675 burger. While I know they've just opened so there will be some growing pains, we ended waiting an incredibly long time to get our entrees. We sat down around 6:30 and ordered by 6:45. My entree didn't hit the table until 7:45. The manager stopped by and comped some drinks and an app for us which was appreciated, but waiting an hour for my burger definitely destroyed the mood. My friend loved the pork chop entree. As for my burger, the kitchen had put the wrong toppings on it based on the menu description and forgot to put any sauce on it so my first bite was not was I expected and was completely dry. The burger was average once the waiter came with some sauce. I got the bacon and cheddar tots for a side but I really did not enjoy these. They weren't traditional tots with shredded potatoes, they were more like fried balls of mashed potatoes. The consistency was really weird and we didn't enjoy them. We also got the burnt ends quesadilla which was much sweeter than I expected. It was good but was also pretty greasy. The heath bar bread pudding was a delicious dessert, definitely the highlight of the assortment. The painkiller and mai tais were also good. Our waiter was really nice and understanding throughout but the wait time for entrees plus much of the food missing the mark made for a pretty lack luster experience. I'd return to have drinks and watch a game, and I'd potentially give it another chance for food, but this first experience left my friend and I a bit let down. read more

Food: At first, we loved that they had a vegetarian burger option, my husband ordered it all the time. We also told other vegetarian friends to go check it out which they loved also. I was SO disappointed when we went last night to get the veggie burger it was removed from the menu. There was hardly any other vegetarian options. I tried the Caprese sandwich, it was terrible. Instead of actual tomatoes, they had a thin coating/purée of the tomato, which tasted like an old mushy tomato... they doused it in balsamic and pesto sauce which made the sourdough soggy inside... I was SO disappointed... what is the chef thinking!!?? So weird. The salad was good. The harvest bowl lacks seasoning/flavor and more veggies in it... it was dry and not enjoyable.. their drinks are good so if you just want to drink, it's a great environment.. but for us vegetarians... not many good tasty options.
