I asked thee guys to run a camera in a pipe and they said there was a break. When they kept putting me off the replace it with the necessary excavation, I hired a different plumber who did the excavation ( $4K) and there was no break and no blockage. !BUYER BEWARE! First of all, know that as of 2019 Texas plumbers are no longer required to be licensed or have permits to do a job. I did not know that at the time I hired Sam the Plumber. I hired them in November 2021 to quote me on a leak in my kitchen and for a whole house repipe with PEX. They came out the next day, quoted approximately $4k to replace the pipes that were leaking or $7k to repipe the whole house and install a new shower valve and 2 days labor, which is the route I took. It took over 4 days for the repipe, a 5th day plus an extra $175 to have them reinstall a new hose spigot after they disconnected the one in the back of my house, they made unintentional holes into my ceiling and a wall while removing old pipe in my attic that they "fixed" with putty, they screwed a toilet valve into the base board, they did a sloppy job installing the sink valves using turkey necks instead of 90° elbows, and then they never pressure tested my house after the job was completed, which led to a water faucet being left on that flooded my wet bar, a leaky valve in my master bathroom, and a leaky valve in my master bathroom that caused water damage and mold. They did pay to have a company come out for mold remediation, but my master bathroom has been in pieces ever since because after over a dozen calls, I find out that Megan, their receptionist is the daughter of Randy, the plumber that was supposed to be in charge of the job, who NEVER SHOWED UP. She is covering for her dad who is likely doing these jobs for more than what he's reporting to the company. Sam the plumber IS A SCAM that is taking full advantage of not needing licensing or permitting to do plumbing work. I've talked to everybody at this company short of talking to Sam himself and EVERYBODY has given me the runaround, avoided my calls, misled me, and lied to cover their tracks. And last but not least, they left tons of trash in my attic from their PEX packaging, insulation adhesive backing, and the old galvanized pipes they were supposed to remove, as well as the sheetrock cut out they threw into the wall void instead of throwing away. Only 1 star because you can't leave 0 stars. We called them on Monday Feb 28 concerning a leak in our downstairs ceiling emanating from the upstairs shower above. They finally showed up on Mar 1 at 5:30 pm. Promptly cut a hole in our dining room ceiling to access the source. Promptly decided they did not have the correct parts. We were told they would return on Wed Mar 2 and quickly repair the leak. They were a no show. I called them and was assured they were coming. We called again on Mar 3, two separate times finally getting someone to answer the phone. The lady told us how sorry they were and would call us back within 15 to 20 minutes and have someone on the way. I clearly stated that if they did not want to repair the issue let me know and I would find someone else to do the work. She again said that was not the case and would see that everything was fixed. We have never heard from them since. Absolutely nothing. Of course the 3rd was Friday and realizing that they were not coming it is now the weekend. We were to have guest over for dinner but had to cancel due to Sheetrock hanging above the dining room table. Tha absolute worst customer service I have experienced in my life time. Hired this company to replace a bathtub, they replaced the bathtub and I went about getting the shower and tub tiled, called them after the tiling to get some test plugs they put in the lines while installing the bathtub removed. They said I created a receipt for the bathtub installation because it was hand written. Their plumber made the ticket out in my living room after completion of the job. They said the plumber no longer worked for them, not my issue, I called "Sam the Plumber" to do the job, I had no control over who they sent to do the actual job. They said they would come out today between 1 and 3 to look at it and of course no one showed up. I guess I'll call another plumber and see "Sam the Plumber" in court. It's a shame in today's day that you can not trust any companies, if you pay them up front they don't show up to do the work. read more

Never using Sam again! it took 4 days for them to not only fix the toilet but they used one of our beach towels to clean up the gunk that came out of the bottom of the toilet , also they took the toilet off of the pipe and left the toilet off to the side and the open pipe just Sitting there for 2 DAYS!!! It smelt bad and it was so messy, also they kept telling us they Were on they're way all day and wouldnt show up for another 4 hours or even when the sun went down, one night we waited all day for them to show up just for the guy to show up at 9pm! it felt very unprofessional and it was so messy and they half assed the clean up part and left a garbage bag with all the crap inside of it plus the nasty beach towel I had to throw away! No one looks forward to needing a plumber. But having these guys come was the best part of a rough week. It started with Katy, the woman answering the phone. She was friendly and polite and got us on the schedule quickly. The crew that came out was Stevie, Chad & Jacob. They were cheerful and courteous and they got to work like a well-oiled machine. I had a nuclear clog in my line that wouldn't fix in three visits from another company. It took two visits from these guys with increasingly powerful equipment but they got us going again (no pun intended). Stevie explained each step and updated the price before going forward. When I got my final bill it was far below what I had expected for the amount of work done. I asked for quotes on some other needs and they were lower than expected as well. I've never had a 'crew' of plumbers come out before. These guys gave me lots of confidence even before they started working. The company does not advertise. They only go by word of mouth. From start to finish, this was a great experience. I'll be calling them without hesitation for my future plumbing needs. read more

On 11/7/23 I called Sam the Plumber to fix the main water line valve. It was rusted and would not turn on and off. I called them at 9:30 pm and I was told it would be $189.00 to come out.(technician later told me it will be $900 but came down to $450 since I was a loyal customer). When the technician arrived, after inspecting he said it's a quick fix, just need to replace with the copper pipe. When he started working on it, it seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. First he cut the pipe too short, and then he tried to add a piece to the pipe to make it even. While he was soldering the pipe the wall got caught on fire. He did not have a fire extinguisher. Having no running water at that time, we had to use drinking water 5 gallon bottle to put out the fire. It was extremely scary. He destroyed our garage wall. Then he leaves stating he'll go to Walmart to get more pipe. This was after midnight and I'm thinking what store is open at this time. He finally returned at 2:30 am. Then he says his boss said that the parts are in a bag in the back of his truck, if he can find it he can fix in fifteen minutes. We told him yes we would like him to finish the job. Then he just stood there looking at us completely confused and blank. When I asked him if he has the part he says I don't know. Then he said he'll come back in the morning to finish the job. Next day when I tried to call the office to find out what time he is coming, no answer, it was going straight to voicemail. I left voice and text messages but no reply. After a few calls it would go to recording that mailbox is full. We had no running water, could not even go to the bathroom. I finally gave up and called another company. He finally texted around noon that he's on his way. When he arrived I told him that I have hired someone else. He got an attitude with me and said they will send the bill to collections. I had to take the day off, they didn't do the work right, they almost burned my house down, garage wall is destroyed which I have to fix it myself. Well I finally got to meet Sam the plumber. They did some work on my shower and there was still a problem with water leaking. Sam came out inspected and said we will be back don't worry we will figure It out. I felt surprised how he came out personally to see what was going on. It ended up being something not related to their work. It was something a tile guy had done not Sam the plumber. To see a business owner say don't worry I'll take care of it and made me feel I was in good hands really impressed me. I am making this company my official plumbing company for as long as I live in Houston. He is professional, proud of his company, and an awesome master plumber. The owner is not at all honest. We had water in our yard and they dug the grass and repair a small leak in the pipe, which should cost around $300. The owner Randy somehow said h guaranteed there was another leak beneath the driveway. When I called to pay over phone, instead of charging $300 for the small repair, he charged $1,000 for the deposit of the driveway repair. Randy insisted on breaking the driveway, installing new pipes underneath and putting in new driveway. I asked to do pressure test to verify and he refused to. My yard was perfectly dry after few days so I explicitly asked him to stop pushing. The refund for $700 was still not issued after three months. He didn't answer phone. read more

We placed a late Saturday night call to the office on a holiday weekend for an overflowing clean out in our yard. The crew that arrived fixed the clog in the pipe exiting our home quickly. Their attitudes and promptness was spot on and I am extremely happy they arrived else we would have no way to flush or shower. Honestly didn't think I would reach anyone on the phone since everyone else I called did not return my call on the holiday weekend. 5 stars for the crew that arrived and the office person who answered my late phone call. This business recently performed a re-piping for me after my closed loop plumbing system began seeping water into my house. My first clue was when I had to get up at 3AM and go shut the main water down by the curb when the first and only connection they made leaked. I have never seen the level of ineptness in scheduling coupled with the mysterious inability to reply to any phone calls or texts. I never knew when the crew was coming and lost count of the number of times I left work to meet them and they never showed up and never responded to calls. Part of the deal was for them to write up an invoice and help me interface with my insurance for a claim. I was repeatedly told to not contact the insurance without them as saying the wrong thing would lead to a denial of claim. It has been over a month now and despite multiple scheduling's, no one has ever done this. They claimed to have a great drywaller to repair the damaged drywall and access points they created for the install. To this day I don't know who that is and there are holes in my walls still. The water taps on the outside of the house are just sticking through the walls without any support. The absolute final straw was me physically going to the shop and meeting the manager to solve this issue. He was shocked and surprised about the situation and promised to come out and start resolving these issues...4 hours after the time he set had passed with no phone calls it's clear that these people cannot keep their word about anything. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with any contractor of any sort in my entire life. I suggest anyone needing any work done stay far far away from this incredibly unprofessional business. It probably wont be that hard, this place won't be around too long. Not with this total lack of professionalism. I'm now going to have to eat the insurance I guess and I'll get my own drywaller. Will have to call a second plumber in to fix what was left undone. I'm not a rich guy. I'm an hourly gut taking care of his 83 year old mother. The stress of the randomly appearing workers and chaos it created has not been good for her. I don't know what else to say. I hope no one else has to go through this. Do not use these guys. Update! 1st main connection coming into house leaked..5 days later after promises made and total no show had to hire SECOND plumber to do the "warranty" fix. This company ripped us off for thousands of dollars. THOUSANDS. In a nut shell they lied to us and told us the main line under our patio was the problem via their cameras when it WASN'T, they just wanted to cover their butts because the main line THEY replaced not even a year ago was totally shot and so poorly put in that caused my house to flood again and it had NOTHING to do with the line under my patio.... this is per the plumbers who ripped it out for no reason based on Sam the Plumbers bid, and per THEIR OWN SAME THE PLUMBER TEAM members who had to replace it in the end AGAIN. To this day they refuse to even talk to us about the money we lost in destroying our brand new patio for no reason other than a CYOA LIES. SAM THE PLUMBER RIPPED OFF NOT JUST US BUT OUR 4 KIDS. We lost thousands and due to it we had to cancel our 4 kids Disney World vacation just 60 days out because the money we had saved for it paid to destroy our new patio and replace a good plumbing line due to a liar. My little girl, and my autistic son was bawling, my oldest was devastated and kept saying "why did they do this to us". I am crying just remembering those hard hours watching my kids heartbreak. I recently had the need for plumbing services at my home, and in a panic, called the first plumbing service I found. They ended up coming out and quoting me a price to repair that "started at $3k" saying my main sewer line was collapsed. Wanting a second opinion, I was referred to SAM THE PLUMBER through a friend who knows the folks at Sam's... BEST MOVE EVER! Appointment process with Sam's was smooth and the guys that came out (on a Friday late afternoon, thank goodness!) listened to problems we were having, and then explained step by step what they were doing, and showed me what they found - no collapses or even cracks in my line, just some debris that needed freeing and washing out!!! Cost WAY less than the other company estimate, cause nothing needed to be replaced to get it working! Sam the Plumber is the only plumbing company I will call from now on!!!! Short version: fast, knowledgeable, professional. Will call again though I hope I don't have to. Long version: Called them in a panic on a Saturday night when a wet spot on our floor started expanding. The receptionist was outstanding but I don't recall her name. We scheduled a call for Monday afternoon (didn't want to pay the after-hours fee). The plumber (Stevie) called me 2 hours earlier than scheduled, which rarely happens in the service industry, to let me know he was on his way. He diagnosed the issue within 10 minutes and made the repair within 30 minutes. He also explained the issue, gave me pointers for preventative care, cleaned up, examined the area for water damage, and referred a company that could estimate any water damage to the house. Very painless process for something you never want to have to deal with. read more

The only reason I give this plumbing company 3 stars instead of 1 is because of the service guy. I do feel the service guy was honest and explained everything really well. The reality is the ladies (name not given) on the other end of the phone had no respect for my time. I was told after the quote on Saturday that the were going to call me and set up a time. I got a call Monday morning that he was picking up the part and would be on his way that was eight thirty. So I said screw it I took off from work and went home. According to the lady on the phone he would be there in an hour. I had a very important meeting at 11:00 am. At 10:30 am I called and said I have to leave. The lady said that he was right around the corner. She then proceeded to tell me if I cancelled it would be 3 or 4 days. No Apology or anything. I pride my self on dealing with small business. Knowing a small business values time so greatly, I can't believe the lack of respect Vickie ( yes I said it) had for mine. How hard would it have been to set up an appointment like I was told on Saturday. They just expected me to be there. I did not even get other quotes because I trusted the service guy. Advice to him, go work somewhere where the people setting the appointments show alittle more respect for there customers. You worth a lot more than that. read more

Great people! I've had dirt coming through the pipes for quite some time now. I thought for sure there was a under ground pipe that had a crack in it. I was scared to death of what the cost to repair would be. Sam The Plumber came out and did some testing. They found out that it is a city issue/repair that needs to be done. It appears there may be a corroding pipe that goes to my water connection. The "dirt" I have been seeing is actually rust particles. Yuck! Hoping the city treats me as good as these guys! NO charge for them to come out and do an evaluation. They took the time to explain everything to me and made me feel comfortable to reach out to them again for anything. read more

I love these guys. After finding out I had an embarrassing sewer leak on the side of my house, I called Sam the Plumber. They came out in great time and informed me what to do to fix the problem. Actually, they went above and beyond to help me out and didn't overcharge at all. They have always been available on the phone and have even come out, at no charge, just to check and see what might be going on. (There were city issues causing my backups.) I spoke to Kelly on the phone in the late afternoon and Brian showed up at 9AM the next morning. Phone etiquette was great and Brian (the Plummer) was presentable and polite. I showed him the leaks I caught and he explained the repairs well. He showed me other damages needed for repair and made sure i saw all the parts. These people were quick, efficient, honest, and they executed the repairs well. I've heard complaints from price hiking from many shops. They were not cheap nor expensive and I would use them and recommend them to anyone. They are fairly priced. A great hard working crew. read more

The next day at 10:10- after no one showed up... Again... I called and left a message. No one even got back with me to reschedule or let me know they would be late. Not worth your time! read more
