Let me say outright and up front that Sam Tailor does adequate work, and Dave, the person that helped me, was friendly and took care of things. That said, Sam Tailor costs significantly more than other options that do the work just as well. Sam Tailor gets a lot of business from the neighboring Hollywood Suits, and is conveniently located directly next to them. I'm not sure if the two operations are related, but it is convenient to be able to just go next door to get the alterations done, especially considering Hollywood Suits doesn't do them. It's certainly the simplest way to get things done, but you certainly aren't getting anything particularly amazing to justify the cost. I brought in a suit to get it fitted: -Hem pants -Bring in waist -Expand seat -Expand inseam -Shorten sleeve length -Trim coat fit This cost me over $100 at Sam Tailor. They accomplished the work within a week, and I found no complaints about the labor. That said, the same work cost me less than half at another Italian Tailor shop I won't mention here. In a pinch, Sam Tailor is open late and is conveniently located, but the bottom line is, for typical work, it's way too costly for what you get. read more

I went in today after buying my suit from Hollywood Suit Outlet on a busy Saturday. I was greeted very warmly and got into a dressing room/fitting for alteration of my pants. It cost me $15 to wait to get the alteration and was out in 20 minutes. I couldn't be more happier about the service. read more

I wear suits for a living and went into Sam's Tailoring in Westminster, next to Hollywood Suits. The gentleman that does the fitting is very cordial, but his technique for fitting was unusual, at least to what I was accustomed, and I used to sell and fit suits that required at a minimum ... hemming the legs. I was fitted in my two new suits WITHOUT dress shoes on, which I thought was unusual. We always fitted customers with shoes on to show where the hem or cuff would fall and if they wanted a break. Secondly, he used a black office file clip when sizing my waist, as opposed to sewing pins and tapering. The fitting was a sloppy rush job and the results were horrendous. I like the pants with a cuff that hits the heal and breaks. The seamstress cut the presumed excess material off one suit, while tucking under the excess on the other. Both pants were 2 inches too short ... they don't even touch the top of my dress shoes. And the crotch was taken in waaaaay too much. They offered to fix it, but just like a bad haircut, are you going to have the same "expert" continue to butcher what they already F'd up? They apologized, but did not offer to refund any of my $201 for alterations. I went next door to Hollywood suits and advised them of what happened and to be careful. They were not the least bit surprised. I said, "You've obviously had several complaints before." Hollywood suits offered a free shirt and tie which I declined. I expect to pay good money for good service. This was completely unprofessional. I seriously question any positive reviews. They are most likely either fake, OR it's from someone that knows little about how a suit should fit. Hopefully, you Google their shop BEFORE your suit is irreparably screwed up by amateurs. This was a bad experience because my $400 suit now smells like an ashtray. For my fitting, the tailor was nice enough. He made conversation, suggested what adjustments were needed. Asked for an upfront payment. All of this is rather standard, and I would expect it at any shop. When picking up my clothes, the tailor is out front on his smoke break. The problem being, he's standing two feet from the open door to the shop. One, this is a health code violation. Two, THE ENTIRE SHOP SMELLS LIKE AN ASHTRAY. My suit was there for a whole week, and I found the car ride home, with my new suit, so repulsive that I had to have the windows open, and now I'm taking the suit to the cleaners. I think the worst part is that after his smoke break, I observed the tailor sit down at his work station, without washing his hands, and start working on another garment. It's like an oily smoke bath to cure the garment for preservation. I will not be going back, and save yourself from the Etta cleaners bills!!! read more

I've been to Sam Tailor twice now to have both of my new suits altered for a perfect fit. David is a professional consultant and will tell you what you need to know in order to get the suit to fit like a glove. I've used other alteration places in the past, and they just helm the pants but they don't offer different tapering options to make you look like a million bucks!!! There was an issue with the pants that came with the second suit. It wasn't sized correctly from the manufacturer and there wasn't enough material to take out an additional inch on the waist... But Sam knew some tricks of the trade and offered a solution that worked perfectly!!! Sam definitely is a Master Tailor!!! These guys ARE the BEST!!! read more

If I can rate this 0 stars I would. So unprofessional specifically STEVEN !!! I went in with my dress so they can sew the split because it was too open I had to wait 2 weeks to get my dress and so when I received it the design of the dress was gone it looked like they just sewed and didn't care to make it look nice I take it back so it can be fixed and showed him the picture of the dress on me before I took it in and how it looked now also how the dress looked on the other braidsmaids who also got the slit fixed and it didn't look like mine did this is where the unprofessionalism comes in he said he couldn't fix it and the dress didn't look like the other girls dress because of my rolls and how I wasn't thin Infront of other customers he was also making me so uncomfortable when he was grabbing my dress. Don't even waste your time going to this place and giving your money to trash like Steven who doesn't care about his customers I'm from the area and will make sure to tell my friends and family to not visit this place! Suit I bought at a store in the garment district seemed comfortable when I tried it on, but later when wearing it after an hour it became very uncomfortable. bought a suit on Wednesday. Got measured same day. Needed it by Friday. These guys pulled it off! Only charged me a few dollars more for the complete tux to be tailored. Got the pants tapered down, I have chicken legs, so they made them in between skinny and slim. They look and feel perfect! The jacket sleeves only needed the arms to be trimmed a bit but still looks perfect. For the price, time frame and work they did. I wish I could give more stars. They definitely are friendly, and also very patient. Will come back to get some more pants done!! read more

Please save your time and money and do NOT go here. It is extremely overpriced and work is subpar. 105 dollars later I go pick up my suit and not all the work is complete. I ask Dave to fix it since that's what we had agreed on and he tried to charge me for his mistake or a miscommunication on his part. Bought my suit from Hollywood Suits and just completely ruined my suit. Wanted my suit to fit slimmer, but instead made the suit unbalanced from one side to another. A bit on the pricy side but I experienced excellent service. My pants were fitted here and, today, when I went to put them on for the first time, my toe caught in the hem and it came undone. I called in and he said to just come in. I did and he had it re-sewn in under 5 minutes and he even re-hung the suit and re-wrapped it since I brought it in without either. It's a bummer that the hem was not sewn tight enough but he stood by his work which is far more than I can say for most places these days. read more

Well this has been a long time coming. Now there isn't much that gets me upset with people and places but when it comes down to what I feel that someone is trying to rip me off or is just ignorant to his or her job then I lose it. I had just purchased a tux from Hollywood suits next door and was referred to here, I walked in and was a bit busy so I was told to have a seat and that they would be right with me...cool. So I'm sitting there and I overhear the person in charge say to one of a group of three guys getting their suits hemmed that "isn't this a good deal?" 15 dollars to get the pants done and I will have you guys out of here in 20 minutes. I thinking wow this is great....ha what a joke. So it was my turn and he measured me out for the suit and asked me when I was going to need this. All I needed was my pant length and waist adjusted, I had told him that evening I was going to a company party and to take his time because it was only 11:30 am and I would be back this afternoon to pick the up. We'll he had told me that I would need to pay an extra ten dollars for the same day service, as he put it "a rush job". So the total was going to be 40.00 . Now I'm not a complete idiot and question him about the RUSH JOB but I just gave up and I didn't want to deal with it. So I agreed and then he gave me the total which he had added tax on the total! I have been a professional mechanic for over 30 years and know you can not charge tax on labor or a totally bogus rush job! Now the tears they used is possible but I think they used 40 dollars of thread. So basically I FEEL that he is a crook and take advantage of any situation he can. One thing I've learned in the 30 years of customer service is that there is always another customer so don't worry about taking advantage of the one in front of you. I've finally said my peace and hopefully someone will benificial from this. Oh by the way they called me at 1 o'clock and told me that my suit was ready. I originally told them I could pick it up by 5. I guess they wouldn't of been able to charge me the 10.00 plus tax fee if they had complied with that. read more
