Hem Up is by far the best alteration place I've ever been to! Tina hemmed my dress to the perfect floor length where I wouldn't step on the dress while walking. She did an incredible job -- I'm a perfectionist and the hem was perfectly straight and neat. She also suggested that we add padding to the breast area, and it really helped make the dress look so much better on me. She has an eye for customizing the dress fit to your body type! She also fixed the stitching on the back of my dress which was coming apart. I took my dress in on Easter Sunday for a wedding on Saturday, and she had it done by Thursday the same week. She finished everything a day earlier than expected to allow time for any last minute revisions, which weren't needed! Price was also reasonable. All of the above cost $70! Originally went in with two other bridesmaids to get our dresses altered. I only needed the length cut and to add a little sleeve on my dress. She insisted I had to add pads to the chest and open up the waist since I had "no shape". I was hesitant but trusted her opinion. I was quoted $100 on my receipt, paid half the amount on the first day. Second fitting, I had to remind them about the sleeves. Turns out, they threw away my extra fabric from the bottom and had to use my cousin's fabric. They almost added sleeves to her dress by mistake. I get a call two weeks later and she tells me something that doesn't make sense, realizes she dialed the wrong number and hung up on me. Third fitting, the pads and sleeves are not sewn in and made me wait 5 minutes to quickly finish. When it's time to pay, she mentioned she "won't charge an extra $20 for the sleeves" and will only charge $15. I thought this was already included in the original quote. I was so annoyed that I agreed to pay and leave. I just hope she honors her quotes in the future. read more

1 star for speed. 0 stars for quality and attention to detail. Asked her to hem the sleeves on an expensive suit jacket, which required buttons to be taken up. However, the buttons are misaligned and overlap each other. Upon closer inspection, she marked the new button placement with BLUE INK, which will be fun to try to remove when I have to take this jacket to another tailor to redo the buttons. The sleeves are also flared. She won't take accountability and tried to say the jacket came like that. Look at the pictures and tell me if you think the buttons came like that. I typically don't get my clothes altered because I felt like it wasn't worth it, but Tina completely changed my mind Tina believes in altering your clothes to what looks good for your body shape and has a really good eye for what looks good on you. She emphasizes that she wants to alter your clothes to your liking and wants you leaving satisfied, so don't be shy to offer your input and thoughts when communicating your concerns with her! I'm only 5 feet tall so finding clothes that fit me well can be challenging. I have always wanted to buy long skirts but it's so difficult to find ones that I don't look like I'm drowning in fabric. I decided to buy a few long skirts and asked Tina to adjust the taper and length. She gave me a lot of good feedback that I didn't even think of on how the skirts could fit me even better such as suggesting to tighten the waist, etc. When I received the skirts, it's like they were made for my body! She's really opened my eyes on how spending a little more to alter your clothes can really be worth it to help you feel more confident in your clothes.
