I even purchased a new internal flushing kit. I called Mark of Accolade Home Services, and in no time, he identified the problem. It was not the flushing mechanism but was with the connectors under the toilet to the wall. He replaced the key connector that wasn't working from the toilet to the wall - a part he carries in his truck. He also replaced the internal mechanism that I'd purchased, as those do get older with time. In about 30 - 40 minutes he was done! Problem solved!

After reading through multiple reviews on Yelp and BuildZoom, we shortlisted 5 and ended up…read morechoosing Apollo after interviewing and getting quotes from all of them. During the very first onsite interaction, a few others simply gave a random number and later changed it quite a bit for a slightly more detailed quote. But Apollo took his time during the first appointment, made some calculations and gave a number. And then followed it up with a detailed line-by-line estimate - interestingly that was the same quote we used to settle the final dues. He is as good with numbers as he is with construction details. Our project involved a 1950's house - we completely gutted the place and also added some square footage. The wiring and plumbing was all redone, a brand new kitchen, fully redone bathrooms just to name a few. On day 1 he quoted 90days (from permit approval), he ended up taking a little over 110days. The +20days was due to an unanticipated delay in windows delivery. Apollo had multiple other projects underway and this delay was causing a logistical nightmare for him and initially asked to push the completion by 3 extra months. But after a good discussion, he came up with creative ways to make progress and lineup inspections. Considering he finished it with 20 extra days than original quote is some achievement! (An average contractor will slip by at least 3-6 months by default). Some traits that stood out for us through the project - + Apollo was very responsive and communicative, he will pick up your call at 7:00am or even 10:00pm and will show the same energy and positive attitude + He will keep you up to date on weekly basis, when appropriate on a daily basis and during the crunch time even hourly basis + Apollo has a very experienced team (some said they have been with him for over 10yrs) and they were all very skilled and meticulous + Although he didn't commit to it or charge us extra, he worked 7 days a week sometimes even late into the night to get stuff done Overall, you will not go wrong with Apollo. He is not cheap but he is not super expensive either he will be very competitive in his bid and most importantly transparent to the final penny! The key is to be equally engaged with the contractor to make sure you get things the way you want and communicate accordingly, and Apollo will make it happen!

Other work included removing walls, recess lightings, increasing the size of window in the kitchen in installing appliances. The pictures below speak for itself. House was sold afterward, and the work they did significantly increased the value. Riz was the PM and thanks to Apollo for the requested paperwork. Quick responses and great customer service.

This is my second review of Jose Vargas. My wife and I are redoing our condominium, and contacted…read morehim through Yelp. Thus far, he has installed recessed lighting, assembled rather difficult furniture, and done a variety of small tasks, all with terrific efficiency and at prices so reasonable I tend to up his offer. The two most impressive feats, however, involve furniture and cabinetry. I described the furniture modification in an earlier review. [EDIT: I realize this review replaces the first one. The furniture modicification involved raising mahogany dining chairs two inches, as they were a little too low for the table. Jose took on the task and did it so well that the addition is absolutely invisible.] As to the cabinetry, we had a bedroom space in which a bookcase of somewhat unusual specs (wider shelves, height and width unique) was required. Rather than Google it infinitely, I asked Jose if he could build it. He accepted instantly. The result is a maple bookcase, superbly finished and crafted to the requirements we had, done at a reasonable price (again, almost too reasonable). His craftsmanship seems to have no bounds.

He fixed the leaky pipe and left the ground opened to make sure no more leaks. In addition, he wanted me to pay the repair cost in full after finding the leak. After I paid him some portion of the total repair cost, he was mad that I didn't pay full and not willing to come and finish the work. Do you really wan to give any job to this guy. I am really glad I didn't pay him what he asked for. even if I paid the results would be the same. now I have to find someone to complete the work including constructing concrete panel for that he brock and removed to find the leak.

He also helped me with a lot of misc work around the house such as window latches, electrical, fan replacement in bathroom, caulking in kitchen and bathroom, lock for attic. His team (David) did an excellent job on interior painting. They removed all the inside doors, light fixtures, blinds etc before painting. Spray painted doors, baseboards. Electrical work was perfect. Chris's electrician tried extremely hard not to cut unnecessary holes in the wall. Huge difference between Chris's team and another electrician I had hired who had recommended cutting many unwanted holes. Chris electrician cut 1 as opposed to proposed 4 by another electrician. He made several trips to give me free consultations. He was very flexible to ideas from us and found the right team who would be willing to work with us. We requested him to go with epoxy grout for example and he was fine with it. On the whole he is very pleasant to work with and very reasonable price for painting, tile work and misc items. We really lucked out getting help from Chris without whom we would really have a tough time getting the house ready for renting last summer. Really appreciate Chris and his team's work. Sorry for the delay in posting this.

Last year, my parents purchased an older house in Palo Alto. The house had 2 hallway bathrooms…read more What we were missing was a bathroom in the master bedroom. We decided the best way to do this was to build an additional bathroom for the master that would flow and work well with the floor plan of the house. We got an architect who ended up referring us to Jimmy and his son Chris. After getting a few quotes from other contractors, we decided to go with Chris and Jimmy. As for the price range, Chris and Jimmy were a bit on the higher side; they weren't the most expensive but they weren't exactly the cheapest either. We decided it was best to go with Jimmy because he seemed very knowledgable and detailed in his work. He made us feel comfortable in trusting him with our home. Fast forward 3 months later; Jimmy, Chris, and their crew did an amazing job. It was well worth every penny we spent on it. We loved it so much that we ended up remodeling the hallway bathroom too. They were so prompt and accommodating to our wants and needs. My parents and I are still waiting for their schedule to free up a bit so they can come back and work on our kitchen!
