The manager, Driss, made the process incredibly easy, even ordering samples ahead of time. The quality of the work is top-notch; the planks are installed tight and the new shoe molding provides a very clean, professional finish. His estimate was for a set fee and not by the hour which appealed to me better. They did kitchen and bath recaulking, interior ceiling patch and repair, exterior faucet replacement and tub/shower faucet replacement. Plus several other projects like a window screen repair. They installed an access door for bathroom plumbing where there had not been one before, and charged only a little extra plus the cost of the hatch door they purchased for me. However, once they got my signature and deposit it was like pulling teeth to the get the actual project scheduled. I'm also a long distance owner, coordinating the project. So it's especially hard not being in the state. I even flew to VA to chat with them but they ghosted me. Apparently only the owner of the company, Rafael, can only schedule projects on Fridays but he's not available most Fridays to chat. Not the person you start the project with. She can't schedule projects. I really regret going with FKBD for the project. I especially regret it because I paid a premium for the labor, and decided to go with this company vs another younger, cheaper company (VA Creative Renovations - Chris is great - check them out) because I thought they would be on top of the project and get it done quickly and get it done well. Apparently not. There was a lack of follow through and communication. When I did ask for timing and submitted my tile choices with Susan, who was my project manager, she had to call over to Rafael, then he'd call me all grumpy for interrupting his day. Seems like there's a control issue. Then when the project was supposed to start there was an issue with the tile I originally chose, even though I had submitted my design choices weeks prior. They said there was a delay with the tile and they had to change the project start date. Meanwhile I'm trying to coordinate with my tenants. Luckily they are the nicest tenants anyone can ask for.
