At 57 years old, I feel that having a wisdom tooth removed as an adult is a very different experience than it may be for a teenager, and I expected more individualized guidance about what to expect during recovery. The written aftercare instructions were insufficient and did not adequately prepare me for the recovery process. After the procedure, there was no discussion about how the procedure went, what to expect over the next several days, how long pain and discomfort might reasonably last, or what symptoms would be considered normal versus concerning. I also was not offered an off-work note or given any guidance about whether I should plan to take time away from work. My biggest concern was not necessarily the procedure itself, but the lack of communication afterward. Patients should leave an oral surgery appointment feeling informed and prepared for their recovery, especially when they are older adults who may have different recovery needs than younger patients. I hope the office will consider improving its post-procedure communication and providing more detailed, age-appropriate expectations and guidance for future patients.

The kiosk check-in system is also faulty and does not always go through to the front desk, so they think you're late or a no-show unless you speak to the receptionist. There is also now a host standing by the kiosks... why? I am disappointed because I pay for PPO just to continue going to CD. I vote for them for Bakersfield's Best every year. During my second visit, it took a significant amount of time to be called back, and I also encountered issues with insurance billing. Today, I arrived on time for a routine cleaning and waited more than 35 minutes without being called back or receiving any communication that the office was running behind. When patients take time off work and rearrange their schedules to arrive on time for an appointment, it is reasonable to expect the same level of consideration from the office. I understand that delays happen, but a delay of more than 30 minutes should at least be communicated. Because of the delay, staying for the appointment would have made me late for my next obligation, so I had to leave. What was most disappointing was the response when I brought the issue to the staff's attention. There seemed to be little concern about the delay or the inconvenience it caused. The office sent numerous reminders emphasizing the importance of arriving on time, yet that same standard did not appear to apply to their own scheduling. Patients' time should be respected as well. Unfortunately, after these experiences, I will be finding another dentist. Professional communication and respect for patients' time should be a basic expectation. Manager called after I left with zero solutions.
