Came with the family during the rush hour time. Waited for a while to get the food, so ended up taking it to go. Prior to asking for the frozen pizza to go we asked the server if they had a specific pizza and we're told yes we have it, when it was time to go, they did not have it. What a let down. The pizza is pretty good, will have to try again when its not a rush time. read more

We're from out of town and we stopped by on a Tuesday at 5 pm with no reservations. Staff was on point, gave the kids wikki stix, gold fish and told us they had off menu kids portion meals. Happy hour drinks and selection was great! The meatball and strawberry burrata appetizer were amazing and classic tomato pie was very tasty or "bestest pizza ever" per my 6 yo daughter. read more

Had an amazing dinner at Salvatore's Tomato Pie in Madison, WI! The restaurant has a super cute, cozy vibe with attentive and friendly service. We tried: Burrata with a fresh local salad, Italian Calabrian street corn, harvest salad, Rigatoni Bolognese, Shrimp Scampi with bucatini, and Hangar Steak with Frites....everything was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Service was exceptional. The combination of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and authentic Italian flavors made the meal truly memorable. Highly recommend this spot for a date night, dinner with friends, or anyone looking for excellent Italian cuisine in Madison! read more

Locals should consider this five stars. I'm from the Trenton NJ area. Birthdays in my family were always celebrated with Trenton Tomato Pie. Finding Salvatore's in Madison shocked me. I was so excited to see the picture of the Trenton Makes bridge when I walked in. Service was pleasant and very good. The tomato pie? Very close to Trenton. The taste is spot on but there is way, way too much crust. Did I say way? Also, lose the basil on top. Totally unnecessary. Overall a very good tomato pie but not quite authentic. read more

I went here for the first time, and it was so nice to go to a sit-down pizza restaurant! We got the meatball appetizer and it was properly seasoned and the meatball was tender. The Walter White pizza was good, I loved the lemon olive oil! The ambiance of the restaurant was really modern yet cozy. My server took excellent care of us. Sal's will definitely be on my regular rotation! read more

The place inside is super nice, but I just got a pizza to order. It was very unremarkable, just a straightforward pizza. Didn't dislike it, it just kinda was a pizza. A little tough/crunchy. Okay taste. Crust was also not bad. read more

We tried Salvatore's for dinner this evening. It was probably about 75% full when we arrived around 6:00 pm. They were able to seat the four of us immediately. Our waitress arrived promptly to take our order, but we asked for a few minutes to peruse the menu. In addition to dining in, they obviously do a brisk delivery service based on the boxes we saw being taken out the door during our stay there. When our waitress returned, we ordered. A couple of pizzas, a salad, and a half Caesar salad. The half salad was delivered in just a few minutes and my friend who ordered it said it was delicious. Filled with parmesan chips, it looked amazing! Then we waited. It became a really long wait. One of those waits where you notice that the folks behind you who came in after you and yet had already finished their meal. Our server had not stopped back after delivering the half salad and I kept expecting her to drop by and say, "they are working on it", or "it will be out soon" or just to see if we needed something. It was close to an hour later when she brought out the pizzas and salad. Not a word about the wait. Maybe they got really busy with delivery orders. Regardless, it felt like our waitress should have checked on us earlier. I almost felt like she was avoiding us because she realized it had been such a long time. The pizzas were good. Tasty. I would certainly eat them again. The salad was great. I'm happy with the food, but the service was subpar. The ambiance was fine. A little loud when we first arrived but after the table next to us left it was fine. read more

This place never disappoints! Best pizza in Madison hands-down! Great spot to go to before a show. The drinks are pretty decent, and they recently changed their menu as there were new choices, including Agatha's margarita and sea of thieves. The service was great! The decor is perfect for this location. Great for date nights or family nights or groups, especially before a show at the Sylvee. read more

This was our second time dining at Salvatore's, but the first time I left agreeing wholeheartedly with the restaurant's popularity. We parked for free in the connected parking garage, and were able to walk right into the building without going outside. We arrived early for our reservation (5:30PM on a Thursday), but were seated and served immediately. Our meal came with some of the fastest service I've experienced in a while, with the whole process (entering the establishment to requesting our check) taking around 30 minutes. We didn't feel rushed at all, our waiter Mya and the kitchen staff were just on their A game! Our meals were hot and delicious. The handmade bucatini in my dish were delectable and cooked to perfection. I told my partner over dinner that this was my favorite pasta dish I've had in Madison this far. The build-your-own tomato pie was also fantastic, a special shout-out to the crispy crust and yummy cheese. The cocktail, although smaller portioned, was made very well. Another shoutout to our waiter Mya, who never let our water glasses get low, and frequently checked on us regarding the status of our order and later around the satisfaction of our meal. Such a warm and friendly server! This is the perfect restaurant if you're looking for a cute date night, or a quick meal before a Madison Forward game! I can't wait to go again! read more

I love this neighborhood gem. The food is soooo delicious. We started with a Caesar salad perfectly topped with a smidge of fill and my favorite Parmesan crust croutons (10/10 to the inventor of crisps for croutons. Seriously). And then split a sweet and savory/ salty pizza. The service was also phenomenal, and the street entertaining was sublime. Wonderful experience! read more

Party of 1. Several 2 top tables open on a busy Friday night. They wouldn't sit me but directed me to the bar. Full. So no seating for a party of 1?? Ordered online: 16" Tomato Pizza with Basil, fries and 2 pieces of chocolate cake. The fries were good. The cake was decent. The pie? The pie took 78 minutes to come out and then it was warm at best. Super thin, tasteless crust, flimsy. Sauce and basil had good taste. Definitely disappointed overall. Darn. read more

I've been coming to Salvatore's for the past 4 or 5 years and the vegan supreme is still one of the best vegan pizzas in town. I've tried some of their other vegan dishes here and there (pasta and meatballs, chocolate cake) and they're pretty good, but that pizza is hard to stray from! The Livingston location is usually busy, especially if you're trying to go before a concert at the Sylvee, but it never takes too long to get a table. Their online ordering makes it's easy to do a pickup as well. It's lively and cool inside and there's an option to dine on the patio in the warmer months. I wish the vegan taco pizza was on the menu all the time! read more

I ordered pizza from Salvatore's for a get together with some friends about a week ago and it was terrific. I got a 16" supreme and it was just great. So a couple days ago I thought I'd order that again and freeze what was leftover so I'd have something quick to eat that was really good. Unfortunately it was an entirely different pizza. I don't think there was any cheese on it and the "sausage" was little hunks of unidentifiable meat-like objects that I was actually gagging on. I threw the whole pizza away--it was just not edible. I contacted them and their answer was to give me a discount coupon for when I order again. It's just too expensive to order pizza and get something completely * not* what you ordered unless you're trying something new which I was not. So eat here at your own risk. Half the time it might be good. read more

This dining room is small and bare, all glass windows and aluminum chairs so it can get loud and not comfy for a long and lingering dinner. However, the brown butter chicken gnocchi was the most Devine thing I've ever eaten in a long time. Food quality outweighs ambiance here! Service was friendly and adaptable, they were willing to offer a kids pasta with Meatballs even though it wasn't technically on the menu. read more

We had 5:30 reservations prior to a 7:00 show at the Sylvee. The server was informed of this. 8 in the party. It was a full hour after we sat down and we still did not see the 4 pizzas we ordered. We informed the server and were told we were next up. Not even close. I saw door dash and Uber eats drivers walking in and out with pizzas. I watched people seated after us being served. Told the sever again we were running against the clock. Be right out ahead said. 10 minutes later we got 3 out of 4 pizzas, which were arm at best. Last pizza came out 5 minutes later. We got our bill and the 20% gratuity had been added automatically. I live Salvatore's usually, but this was just a bad experience. Not once did anyone check in on us. Salvatore's- do better. This one is off our rotation for now. I'd be happy to talk to a manager if they like. read more

Went on a Friday night super busy but the patio was open and got seated right away, our server was very busy but acknowledged us right away, took our drink order, very strong but delicious , we had the ceaser fries which were probably some of the best I've ever had who would have thought ceaser dressing and fries ‍next we had the woodsman pizza which was definitely worth the wait, would have loved to have dessert but I was so stuffed , will be going back soon I finally found a really good place for pizza read more

Za za is ama-za-ing! Ate here on a family's recommendation and happy to report they are still our beloved family ! Woodsman and Forza were both tasty, but the W goes to the Woodsman as the toppings were Total Shroom heaven, even Toad from Super Mario would approve! Crust was darn near perfect - right amount of chew, hand tossed thin-ish. Shout out to RUBY S. who helped us first timers navigate the pizza waters here. We decided to take a pie to our family and placed a to go after we were done eating. I realized later I messed up and got a small...so asked if we could change to a large...they were already making it, but we put in for another small as she awesomely suggested. I felt so bad we were 'that customer' - during Saturday dinner rush time to boot, but Ruby was so sweet and professional about it. Can't say enough as clearly she was wicked busy and us newbies threw her a curveball, and she still hit it out of the park! Thank you for a great experience from top(pings) to bottom!! read more

I am unfortunately becoming a Yelp Karen..... too much ricotta on their sourdough "toast". They clearly forgot to put in our food order. No apologies or anything just a "your pizzas are in the oven". That would be fabulous if I hadn't have put in my order an hour ago. Trinity, our server, never stopped by to ask if we wanted more drinks or even a refill on our water. Drinks were good though. P.S. there is a service charge on using cards. read more

THIS PLACE IS THE SHIT! Love the patio, it has string lights hanging for a perfect, dim lit, romantic ambiance. Could use some music outside though. Even though it's right on East Washington which is busy, it's very entertaining if you like people watching or watching traffic and there's a bunch of bars minutes away. This neighborhood is very nice now with all the new buildings. Also, we found parking easily. I got my fiancé the Moody Blue which has Plantation 3-star rum, Allspice dram, blueberry syrup, pineapple, lime, and coconut milk. We also got some Wollersheim, Scarlet Fumé which I liked, I'll give it 3 stars! I randomly ordered it for her as a surprise and she really liked it. I tried it and it was very tasty, I'd recommend it if you like fruity coconut drinks. We were immediately greeted at the door and sat quietly. The server was quick and ready to take our order with a smile, GREAT service is not so common so I was very happy. We got the Fat uncle tony and the tomato pie with extra sauce. The pizzas came fast, they were hot, and they tingled my tastebuds! They were exactly what we wanted and I'm impressed at the consistency of the pies from this location and the sun prairie location. Good job! I'm very satisfied with this Salvatore's! It will be great here in the winter and the decor inside is cool and I got a retro feeling from the cd ceiling. Ready to go back for more. Every dish we got was delicious. Each. And. Every. Bite! The menu is a nice digestible size and categorized by veggies, land, sea, pizza and desserts, which made it very easy for us as vegetarians. They consider it "share-plate" style and you can order all at once, order a few dishes here and there, or order more as you polish your dish and regret not ordering the whole menu. We got the crispy tofu and lions head meatballs (both vegan options) and the BBQ pork pizza (no pork but rest of ingredients include: grilled bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, Gouchujang BBQ sauce, red onions, kimchi, mozzarella, scallion and cilantro. This combo just sounded tastier than their other veggie pizza options). Staff is nice and very attentive. Water glass was always full and had the right balance of checking in. It's not often I convince the fiancé to go for pizza but when I can, we also go for Sals! I am always excited to check out their menu and specials as they're regularly adding new things to try. One of our favorite go-tos are the Korean bbq wings with kimchi. The sauce is sooo good. This sausage broccolini pizza was one of my favorites that I've ever had here! (My all time favorite pizza was a special last year with peaches, Gorgonzola, arugula and a balsamic glaze "a-peach-iati", please feel free to bring this back whenever!) I did a to-go order of the El Mapache Loco burger for burger week (I think this was a limited time special). Description of the burger from the site: Fajita-seasoned Wells Farm beef, stuffed with roasted poblano peppers, caramelized onions, mozzarella, and Hook's 1 year cheddar, topped with pico, adobo lime aioli. Served with chorizo fundido fries. I ordered online with delayed pickup time and naturally I still managed to get there 20 min late. Surprisingly, the fries didn't get soggy in that time in a box! Probably not as crisp as fresh from the fryer but still good crisp. I think the fries were covered with melted/fried cheese and bits of chorizo, and it had a hearty taste. The burger was fine but as I was eating it while chatting with a friend (ie not fully concentrating on the food), I didn't really notice an interesting play of flavors like I was hoping. Instead of having contrasting flavors with each bite, it melded together for a more uniform flavor I couldn't quite place. It's possible this is because I didn't start eating it until half an hour after it was made though... read more

Sal's is one of the places that I can always depend on being really good. I love their variety in their pizza. Not a lot of places provide the options that they do. I love the Fig & Bacon pizza. Another reason I really like Sal's is their menu. I was able to try out some of the dishes during restaurant week and it was perfection. The beef short rib with the wild mushroom risotto is a must get. Every bite was so decadent. Plenty of seating. Make sure you make reservations (Resy). Parking in the garage or street parking. Very nice meal. Especially liked the Ricotta on sourdough appetizer - Great flavor profiles. The pizza was good, would have liked it cooked just a bit more. The cannoli was interesting. Tried Salvatore's for the first time this past weekend. Fun atmosphere inside, good beer list, and very good pizza. Didn't make it to #1 on my Favorite Pizza in Madison list (a very unimportant list), but that's no knock--everyone on our enjoyed their pizza and ate every bite. The brussel sprouts appetizer we had was terrific, too. Service was a bit hit and miss that night. Server was very friendly and got the orders right for a relatively big group with different requests, but would go long stretches without checking in and never delivered a beer order later in the meal (which we weren't charged for, so no worries). Certainly recommended if you're looking for very good pizza and an easy vibe. read more
