Lies and scams - normal operating procedures. Their so-called discount programs are entirely bogus. "Income Qualified Discount" is just about non-existent. The only people who'll ever get that are those willing to spend dozens of hours at each of the following: IRS, SSA, Medicaid, and Retirement accounts, etc... to get a $10 a month discount. SRP claims they support the community, and support those less fortunate. And boy does that look good on paper. Unfortunately, that's all it does... looks good on paper. *They want pay stubs - I'm unable to work. *They want tax papers - I'm unable to work, therefore, I don't file taxes. *They want SSA paperwork - that's a 50 mile drive and 6 to 8 hours at the Social Security office. *They want Medicaid paperwork - that's a 30 mile drive and 6 to 8 hours at the Medicaid office. *They want retirement benefit paperwork - that one isn't even in the state. There's another 1-2 days on the phone. The last three, even if I went through the arduous task of getting those papers, would be all for naught, as they require pay stubs and tax papers. This company doesn't hesitate to use their monopoly to raise prices and lower service. read more

In summary, I contacted them that the reads (daily usage) was not working on their website. Instead of fixing the software, they replaced the meter, which I told them not to do because they were incompetent from the start, and they did it anyway, so power surge destroyed my computer (computer was not on, but was plugged in). If I had known that could have happened, I would have disconnected the power cord from the outlet. Never received any pre-installation checklists or what precautions to take before replacing the meter - no warning at all. I have contacted them numerous times, and their only interest is to fix the meter so they can charge me more. They destroyed my computer, refuse to take responsibility, and the ombudsman is horrible, just horrible to deal with, customer service is non-existent. Believe me, they will not help, even when they created the mess. Bottom line, I suffered extensive damages, and the issue was never resolved, reads still broken. Horrible people. Have to file a complaint the Attorney General's Office in order to get them to respond. This organization and its representatives are despicable. read more

SRP has a rebate program for putting shade screens on your house. I submitted a request for rebate and it was rejected because my receipt said " SunTex 80 insect screen. The requirement was the screens had to block 80% of the sun. The screen is called SunTex 80 which signifies that it blocks 80% of the suns rays. Because it has the word insect they denied my rebate even after I called and asked them to review. Isn't that ridiculous? I can't believe they are so shortsighted. read more

Srp sucks! I live in a area were the power goes out pretty often. They make sure the supper walmart and houses three blocks away have power but not in my area. Some areas they will always make sure the power is on and others they just put a patch on things but never upgrade so that power stays on. I purchased (2) Ecobee Smart Premium Thermostats from the SRP Marketplace on 7/24 under the Bring Your Own program. One of the t-stats failed and was popping the in-line fuse on the indoor air handler unit. I called a tech to trouble shoot and the t-stat was putting excess voltage on the line causing the issue. We swapped the units and the stray voltage issue went away. I called the SRP Marketplace number shown on line, and after three transfers I was connected to the right department. Turns out SRP uses a company in Houston TX, Franklin Energy, for the sale of their thermostats, and they directed me to to manufacturer for warranty issues as their warranty is only for 30 days. The SRP website says the warranty is 3 years and Franklin Energy is responsible for all services provided thru the marketplace. Not true in my case. What they don't tell you is how to go back to the manufacturer to get the warranty issue sorted. You have to have a licensed AC tech provide a detailed trip report, including photos of the equipment and what tests were performed, before a warranty is issued. I got this information from the manufacturer, not the SRP Marketplace customer service rep. Good thing it wasn't the summer. read more

It's a bummer that most apartment complexes. Do not accept the regular SRP basic plan. So you have no other choice, but to choose the mpower plan. The basic SRP plan would be so much more cost-effective during summer because they have payment option programs. With mpower you don't get any programs like that if you don't have the money, you don't get the electricity. I'm in a two bed two bath apartment and I'm paying close to 300 every month during the summer I know people with four bedroom houses that are paying half that price with the regular basic plan. They say that M power is more cheaper but it's really not. They also say it's a flat rate but then when you complain about it, they tell you that it is not a flat rate. Every day, my amount is different, even though I only have the necessities plugged in like the fridge and the stove and the TVs when home. I wash once a week sometimes twice depends on that week and my ac stays at 75 And somehow I'm still using $10-$12 a day. I understand it goes by KWH but what I'm not understanding is why every day my KWH is different if nothing in my household has changed. At this point I feel like they price gouge on purpose because it's Arizona and let's face it We need the AC. read more

TLDR: SRP company has a convoluted, confusing operating system that penalizes their consumers for consequential errors. The front line of SRPs phone service seems generally crooked... after years with APS, who did things pretty seamlessly, I took for granted an "easy experience". After moving in earlier than planned on a weekend, I called the following Monday to add myself to the lease holders account. I misspoke, the agent told me she couldn't add me to the current account, but we could start a new one, I said "sure!" After warning me about electrical fires and such she went over some turn on fees. This didn't seem right to me, so I pushed the date back to a Thursday and spoke to my leaseholder. She calls in Wednesday, to clear things up and add me to her account via 3rd party auth. The turn-off/ turn on still proceeds on Thursday. I call in Thursday and was basically told too bad, your options are 1) add the old account older 2) pay everything AGAIN to change things back the way they were. I can't make that decision for my leash holder, obviously, so I call hang up to call her. Who calls but is told they can't talk to her because she's no longer on the account. It's now Monday, I call back in, I get the exact same spiel as before "well you can pay to turn off, and turn back on again. Every representative we a speak to clings to a company policy that obviously leaves a lot of grey area to screw over the consumer. They know they're one of the only power services in the city, so they don't care to provide a quality services. 1) why didn't the turn off occur on said Wednesday OR why wasn't made clear that MY LEASH HOLDER could authorize a turn at that time? (Instead I needed too as account holder).... 2) why wasn't my leash holder and previous account owner notified of her turn off, what if I was just some goon of the street messing with peoples lives? (The process to start an account literally took me 2 mins, only sensitive info I gave was soc#). This company is pathetic. My mother passed (not covid) and I became the Personal Representative to the estate. All utilities as per the court of Maricopa county must be in the estate name. When calling to inform them the customer service person was rude and bothered by my call. They are the ONLY company who did not a acknowledge my mothers passing. They wanted the account in my personal name and run a credit check with a deposit. I informed them the court says NO! Mind you the was a zero balance on the account as I already sent in payment prior. After not getting anywhere with these languid people I was sent a letter telling me to change the account or we will turn off the power. I sent the letter to my lawyer and he said they are making a big mistake and to go on with paying them monthly. Well I had my kids in the house on 118 degree day and at 3 pm the shut off the power. I called and got a hold of another rude customer service person and was informed I was in the wrong. I ask what the balance was on the account $0. They informed me I was going to have to switch names to get the power back on during covid and with my kids in the house and it was 101 degrees in my house. I explained and explained so they said you have to pay a deposit and your going to pay a $45 flip it back on fee. Finally she put me on hold for 10 min. and came back and said good news we're going to waive the deposit but we still have to charge you to turn it back on. It's now 104 in the house. Remind you the balance was still ZERO. Fully paid never late. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT PROVIDER AS THIS COMPANY DOES NOT CARE FOR HUMAN LIFE DURING A HEAT WAVE AND COVID! read more

Terrible service. We have used SRP ever since we moved to AZ (3 years) and have perfect payment history with them. We temporarily lived in an APS jurisdiction and when we came back to SRP they still required a 300 dollar deposit. I sent them the letter of credit FROM THEM and included the APS letter of credit showing perfect payment history they basically said, "We don't accept that, f**k you very much, pay 300 dollars" How does that make sense - Every other utility company accepts letters of credit and you would expect SRP to accept THEIR OWN letter of credit, right?! Who the hell doesn't accept THEIR OWN LETTER OF CREDIT?! They have always had terrible service on the phone and emails while we have been customers but none of it made me angry enough to leave a bad review until this instance. read more

My review is regarding SRP's irrigation service. I've been a customer for 24 years. This service is unreliable, drastically inconsistent in their water delivery, and customer service normally finds a way to shrug off customer complaints by attempting to place blame on the customer. This is extremely frustrating when you depend and plan on that water! You pay for this water and you have to take time off work or wake up at 2 am to accommodate their scheduling and you plan all of your yard work around the SRP schedule. This is ownership and acceptable... What is unacceptable is : Being told at 1:50 am to go drive around and try to figure out why there isn't any water coming into the yard...arguing with people in offices who hold up for their employees rather than investigate a 24 year customers complaint and have no resolutions for getting water to you when their employees actually did cause you to miss water...and now your dry yard and dying trees have to wait two more weeks to "try again"...and getting less than 1/3 of your normal amount of water for the second time in a row!!! And honestly there is nothing you can do because SRP is unwilling to hear you... read more

I just found out that SRP offers a rebate if you buy a new air-conditioner. The kicker is that you have to use a service provider that they pick. I discovered that they charge each service provider on their list a yearly fee of $800 to be put on their prefered list. I would imagine that the company you pick just passes that fee onto to the consumer. The old saying that nothing is free holds true. Shame on SRP for the fee they charge to the provider. I finally made the call to ask if they could replace it because it didn't look safe (especially with all the storms we have been having) SRP got right on it and what they said was going to take 3-4 hours took only 2. Been a customer with SRP for 3+ years, hadn't had many issues. but then on 1/8/21 still reeling from the pandemic and the resulting economic impact, SRP decided to turn off my power. I had a balance of close to $400 dollars so I wasn't too surprised. I tried to opt in for an advancement to buy a few days while I tried to scramble to gather money to put towards the imposing balance. SRP allowed this, my services were restored! Then approximately 20secs later they were once again severed. I was ,again, not overly surprised by this as it was a $5 advance put toward a nearly $400 balance. The crux of this issue, and the reason I'm leaving a 1 star feedback is simply because when I tried to call SRP I was greeted with a cut dial tone. I tried to call their "power emergency" line also and still received no help. I understand business is business and that customer service is very quickly becoming a privilege and not a prerequisite, but to cut off someone's power, during a pandemic, with no intension to contact that customer or allow contact from that customer is petty, improfesssional, and not acceptable at best and atrociously disgusting business practices at worst. I get the impression that customers are either paying or simply disposable. This is unacceptable and I'm am now eagerly in the process of ending my use of SRP services. If you are a customer or prospective customer of SRP please understand this company will not be there in your time of need, Lies about 24/7 phone services and cares little for the customer experience. read more

I have been an SRP customer for 25 years and have a credit score over 800 (I always pay my bills) . My electronic payment, for a whopping $75, was lost in cyberspace and the wonderful people at SRP shut off my power with no warning of any kind. I had two elderly parents visiting at the time that both had medical equipment that required power, creating an emergency situation. How much of a lowlife do you have to be to shut off power because a bill is a few days late? Seventy dollars? Luckily I was able to remedy the situation because I was close to home... I do regret taking it out on the agent who answered the phone but he was initially sarcastic and rude. When he finally realized the situation and he changed his tune for the better. I feel sorry for the employees and AZ residents that have to suffer due to SRPs inhumane attitude. read more

The worst. If I could I would rate them with minus 10 Stars, I what complain that I can't write them with a minus 100 Stars. After them trying to convince us the switch to some new program that we told them know we don't want to participate in, we've had nothing but issue after issue with them and our billing. I wonder if it's their way of trying to force us into accepting this program. Anyways the first problem was that they were not accepting our payments, and not telling us this at least not until finally they wanted to tell us they're shutting off our power. When asking them about it they said our bank account changed our bank numbers. According to our bank that was Bull and they show that they took out of their money on one of the two month SRP refused and said that's not true and it's an issue will have to take up with their Bank. They told us we'll have to start using their stupid kiosk because we can't pay anymore because of their mistake that somehow is our mistake because they insist our bank account number is incorrect why our bank is telling us nope that's the correct number. So because I can't exactly go to their competitors and get power from them I'm stuck with SRP and decided I would hey the next month at the kiosk we did. We were told we were paid in full and don't have to worry about her power being turned off. Today we get a disconnect notice again saying that we owe just over $215. So, we called and asked what this was about, we were told we were being charged fees that our bank charged SRP both times, including a transferred fee they claim never happened due to the incorrect Bank number. How this works in her mind I don't know I mean in one case they say the transfer didn't go through because the pink account number was wrong and then they charge us a fee they say the bank charged them for the transfer. Then deciding the charges us a late fee for not paying our electric bill which they said we paid on time after we called to make sure they got her money through the kiosk as it didn't give us a receipt. And they decided to take that money to put it towards fees that they claim they didn't know they were even getting until after we paid our bill and they put our money towards our electric bill towards those fees and thus our electric bill wasn't paid for so they had to give us a late payment. I asked the guy on the other line did this even make sense to him, he would not answer but told us that we are responsible for knowing what our updated changed bill to prevent late fees before the next bill as they have no obligation to call or update us. So I'm sitting in the parking lot of my bank after talking to them and then tell me they never charged SRP any fees for the transfer. They would charge me directly. None of this makes any sense whatsoever. How are they being charged fees with the bank doesn't charge them how are we getting late payments four things are not telling us we need to pay? How can they take our money thats used to pay our electric bill to pay our claimed fees they never told us about? How can they charges a late fee for something they never even build us for yet? How can they tell us that our bank account number has changed when it hasn't in the bank confirms it hasn't? A bank account that is literally in their computers as confirmed by the person and has not been changed on our side. How can they tell us they're not receiving payment when at least one of the two has been shown to have come out of our account going to SRP? And why should talk to her bank about their mistake(s) can our bank fix there errors? None of this is acceptable, it is wrong on so many levels the treatment we received every time we called, the run-around the lack of answers and all the issues. At this point I don't know what to do. it's not like I can afford to do a lawsuit against the multimillion-dollar company with a army of layers and to spend all that money on lawyers for just a few hundred dollars, to do what? The lack of ability to choose who supplies my power AARP or SRP has set up a situation where they can treat their customers like this without any consequences because I can't just go to somebody else. And I can't afford $20,000 to set up a whole bunch of solar powers and batteries so I don't have to be connected at all to these ripoff artists. three words: Pre Paid Electric. I love SRP and could not complain even if i tried to. They have a pre paid electric option and of course i jumped right on that. No surprise bill at the end of the month, you pay what you want as the month goes on $10 here $50 here, whatever you want/need to put on. You keep a nifty little box in your house that manages your monthly usage. Even breaks down the usage by hour and day. I love knowing EXACTLY how much i am spending. You get a card to go with the box and you can load the card at any local SRP express location( in grocery stores) and insert the card into your box at home and BAM just like that bill is paid. i don't know about you but I'm all about convenience :) read more

And others, I'm sure, just decide to get freaky with it. As for me, I marched my determined, happy arse up to the front doors of SRP to turn on electricity in my new place. Having already spoken to somebody on the phone earlier that week, I was told I would have to stop in to show some ID. Annoying. Yet, when I walked into the main office (tucked close to the Zoo and Firefighters Museum), I was relieved to be greeted by a young, friendly woman. She was soft spoken, which, in turn, made me soft spoken. She was polite, which, in turn, made me polite. Let's face it, nobody looks forward to dealing with companies that control your ability to blow dry your hair in the morning. I flashed my ID, answered a couple questions and waited patiently while she went to fetch information about my plan - which included a free magnet. Nice! It was almost so quick and painless that for a half-second I thought I had conjured the entire experience. And, on a different note, kudos to SRP for their EarthWise Energy Program - an easy way to help improve the environment. Just $3 a month and you can contribute to solar projects. Also, with Trees for Change, you can also help plant trees in forests that were destroyed by fires. I don't know about you, but I feel like just doing a little bit more for the environment makes it that much easier to sleep at night - not to mention run the dishwasher without feeling like your wasting entirely too much water/power. read more

I've been a customer of SRP since July of 2007 when I had to get electric service put in my name. I fell in love with them from the start, and have nothing but awesome things to say about them. For starters their rates are much better then APS from what I have seen. They have a variety of pricing options and plans for everyone no matter what your circumstance. I personally have M Power and wish this feature was in Michigan where I moved from back in 2005. Why? because I can monitor my electric usage, and it saves me tons of money. Did you know that people who use M Power use 20% less electricity then those that recieve a bill? Why? Because you can monitor it all the time! Plus, there's no bill! I keep quite a high balance on my M power machine since electricity during the summer is much more expensive, and the winter months are cheaper on the electric bills and pocket book. During the summer of 2010 (June through August), I found myself unemployed after getting downsized at my job of 5 years. I was lost, and worried about finding new employment, and while I waited it out in the summer heat, I called SRP to see if there was anything I could do to save money on my electric bill while I found a new job and received unemployment. They told me about a plan for people in my situation that allows people in my circumstance to receive a $17 monthly bill credit for up to 12 months while I find a new job. You don't have to pay the $17 back, and when you go to the SRP machines to put money on, you receive the credit at the beginning of every month. I did that for 3 months, and even though I keep a high balance it was the peace of mind knowing that they had my back. (that was a total of $51 over the course of 3 months in electricity credits! especially in July, thats like 2 free weeks of electric!) I also had an outage in September of 2010 due to a meter problem. I had a new M power box at my door within the hour, and a service man was at my door within 2 hours of that! SRP completely handled the situation, and got me back up and running between the time I got home from work and the time I went to bed. Plus, their customer service people are always so nice and friendly. . I wish other states and electric companies would model themselves after SRP and how they run their electricity business. So many options with pricing! I also LOVE M POWER. If other states would even pick up something like M Power, we could save so much energy! Keep up the good work SRP, and you always make me happy! read more

So far so good! I'm use to APS but bought a house and switched to SRP. They have been great so far. I was able to do everything quickly online, in a matter of 5 minutes or less to sign up. I instantly received a text message alert letting me know they will be turning my power on, it confirmed the address it was turning the power on at, and even provided me my account # in the text message. Not even an hour later, no even 15 minutes later according to my phone, I receive another text message telling me I'm good to go, my power has been turned on. It reconfirms the address it turned the power on at, and tells me my account #. So far, so good, no issues at all. And it let me pick my own billing date, which I didn't want the first of the month with all my other bills. I thought it was really nice they give you the option to do that. I'm a happy customer right now, haven't received a bill yet, but I I'm sure there will be no issues with how everything has been going. Just great! read more
