Won a fun prize in the summer reading challenge!
    Alisha O.

Tempe has such a great library program! The library itself is very nice - large, clean, and lots of books! I like all the "featured" book areas -- staff picks, new fiction and non-fiction, and various genres. They're a great way to find a new read. You can also get magazines on the Libby app. There are lots of kid areas especially downstairs, and rooms for activities, and they put on a lot of community activities. Right now they also have a summer reading program with prizes, even for adults! The Farm Express mobile market is there every other Tuesday 1:30-3:30 and they also have passes to local attractions. Checking out and returning books is really easy and there's plenty of shaded parking. And the people at the help desk are really nice!

I been wanting to read this book for forever!!

This is a great library. I recently starting going to the library even though I've lived in Arizona for about 5 years now. The library location in Tempe is so much better than the downtown chandler library. The selection here is way bigger, and it's more teenager friendly. My son was able to get some good books he was interested in reading. In the downtown chandler location he couldn't find one book that peaked his interest. I got way more books than I expected. That's a good thing! I need to get back into reading. The employees here are so much more friendly, helpful and knowledgeable than the Chandler library. So safe to say I won't be back to the Chandler library. This library I will be a regular at even though it pretty far from em.

I went to the Tempe Public Library recently. I like that they offer so many great programs and activities. I love that they offer books, music, and videos. This is also a nice place to go during the hot summer months. They have many computers for people to use and a few group study rooms. The larger rooms that are used for meeting are available for a small fee. It's interesting that they have a little cafe on the first floor. There were signs outside promoting their special of the day - which was lemonade. The library cards need to be renewed on a yearly basis. I'm also surprised that non-food places are listed on Yelp. I always thought of Yelp as only a restaurants review site. But, I see that it is an all-inclusive site for many different venues.

Beginning June 3rd, we can bring in bottles of water as part of the summer hydration drive. For every bottle I bring, that's a $1 off my fines! Bringing a case of water to help my community and remove my $4 fine is a win-win. Thanks, Liam, for the information. Come on Tempe, let's do our part to make this a safer summer.

One of the first things I noticed was how spacious the library feels. Everything looked clean and well maintained, which made it a really comfortable place to settle in and focus. There was actually already a line of people waiting outside for the library to open at 1 PM on Sunday, which says a lot about how popular it is. One feature I thought was especially cool is their seed library, where you can pick up seeds to plant your own plants at home. They also offer the usual cultural passes, which is always a great perk with a library card. Speaking of that, I really liked how unique their library card designs are. I was able to sign up for a card today thanks to a very helpful staff member who made the process quick and easy. Inside, there were plenty of tables and outlets almost everywhere, which made it perfect for getting work done. There is also a free charging center where you can charge devices. Parking was also simple. I parked at the Scottsdale Civic Center Garage, which made access really convenient. Overall, I was very happy with my visit today and will definitely be coming back.

My review is based on the courtesy of staff, their knowledge of services offered, the convenience of the huddle rooms -availability and reserving, and the items they occasionally have available for purchase. I've come here for printing recently instead of going to the UPS store. Saves me more money. You can submit things to be printed via email or you can print things yourself either from desktop or directly at a set up printer. There is a fee, which is minimal, and there are some limitations to what you can print. I've used the Culture Pass deal and saved the price of two tickets for two adults (online price, age 18-64, $26 each) to visit the Heard Museum. Very cool, and it was our first to the Heard Museum, so added bonus. More recently the gentleman I spoke to provided me a quick lesson on how/where/when to pick up future Culture Pass so I could participate again when I find passes available. Some of the Culture Pass locations you could visit: Desert Botanical Garden The Heard Museum Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Reid Park Zoo Gilbert Historical Museum Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Arcosanti Sedona Heritage Museum Lowell Observatory Superstition Mountain Museum and several more. Desktops are available for a reserved period of time, and wifi can be accessed without a specific set limit if you bring your own laptop. On one occasion we picked up a selection of music cds for $1 each. Better price than many second hand stores. And I did see they have books available for purchase. A few other activities the library offers: Ask a Master Gardener presented by U of A Maricopa Master Gardeners. Seed exchange Free Garden Seeds (limit 3) Break TIME Chandler Recreation Guide And numerous other Community Events -all viewable on their website. Keep in mind, you must have a library card to use most of the things mentioned.

They were harassing us, having others monitor us, mocking us and waving along with talking loudly about us at the front desk and then at one point came into our study room threatening us they were going to kick us out of the library. I understand they are enforcing the mask requirement, however, we were in our on study room, door closed and didn't leave the room. The first time they came in, they told us we were required to wear masks, so we put them on. The second time she came in, I had just taken a drink and was pulling my mask back up and my study partner was doing teach-back on our topic so her mask had fallen slightly past her nose, that's when we got the lecture on pulling our masks up all the way and if we weren't going to be compliant then they reserved the right to kick us out. They were hyper-focused on us during their rounds that I didn't see them acknowledge three other students that weren't wearing masks at all. Diligence is one thing and I get they have been told to ensure students are wearing masks. However, today what I experienced from these two was harassment.

My favorite section is the language section. You'd be shocked how many books they have on even the most obscure of languages. I never had an issue with the noise but can say it definitely got loud at times (some people never learned to keep it down in a library). If you have a study group or project team, a good idea would be to reserve a room.

Another Yelper asked me to do the Maricopa reads summer challenge with her, so I said, "Sure, why not?" I am always reading, so this will be fun! As an adult, you can also participate, and once you get to certain levels of points, the library rewards you with some prizes. I came here yesterday to check out my prizes, and the librarian was nice and handed me items I won. I got a free drink pass for Cane's chicken, a one day pass use for AZ parks, and also a free coupon to collect a gently used book at any local library. I honestly don't need any of these items, but it's still fun to win prizes. If you know me, you'll know I love to win free items, but honestly, who doesn't? Local libraries here also offer cultural passes to some of our favorite museums and destinations, so I really appreciate that! I did spot some passes for the Heard Museum, so next time, I am here, I will check them out so I can visit the museum. I have checked out the cultural passes for the Desert Museum in Tucson, and that was great! This library is also a cooling center, and if you need a reprieve from our hot desert weather, this place is for you. They also provide bottled water too. This time, when I was here, they were also proving free covid at home tests and also opiate naloxone reveral kits. I really appreciated seeing that! I love public libraries. You can always count on this bookworm to be hiding in one!
