SE of Guadalupe and Greenfield; If you can read, thank a teacher and a Librarian.

I love this library. It's beautiful and organized with great staff. You can borrow books and DVDs in the building and online.

I've been here a couple times to utilize their large study desks and free Internet, and have to agree with some of the other yelp reviews. If you are looking for a quiet area to read or study, this place is not for you. On every occasion I have been here, there are always several children running around screaming and yelling, or playing tag. I understand that it is important for children to be at a library and engage in books, however I think it is important to respect the space and to keep the volume down. The library is not meant for tag or for running around. If you were lucky enough to get a seat at the desk by the window, you are in luck! There is a great view of the lake, and you can people watch or even just watch the birds fly by. There are many tables around the library, but I have only found outlets near the tables by the windows. There is a good selection of books, CDs, and videos. I was a little surprised to see that he's library no longer uses the Dewey decimal system. When I was looking for a book, the books were organized by titles alphabetically and not by other last name. Be sure to ask for help if you cannot find the book you want. The staff are very friendly!

It's been awhile! :0 Came in to pick up a book for my daughter. Seems these school books (required) are never in stock here not even during the summer, for a summer school read! With that said, easily enough obtained within just a few days as they have access to the full Maricopa County system. By using the computers in the library to look up & reserve your book it's simple!!The request(s) will be transferred from another location & you'll be notified when it comes in -via email. This trip wasn't a total waste of time! LOL We picked up about 5 movies! You can rent many delectation of DVDs, CDs, Blue Rays & even Magazines. 7 day rentals. You'll have access to WIFI, computers & laptops. I believe they may even rent out projectors? A small fee may apply. Check with them for details. The personnel are very helpful and this library does have much to offer, but what I like most is that it's technology is updated & easy to use whether you're using their computers for research or by the check out process. In addition, there's many programs offered day & night for a very diverse audience.

I figured it was about time I checked it out and I was very impressed. The first floor has adult collections, study rooms, meeting rooms, and quiet work areas. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was told by getting a library card, I can check out passes that provide free admission to museums, gardens, and cultural attractions around Arizona. How cool! Will check out the cultural passes another time but did get the library card. They also offer a lot of free classes and programs for adults, teens and children such as book discussion groups, arts and crafts workshops, and story times. There's something for everyone here.

It is a cute but older library. They have a kids section with toddler baby books next to the play area, a rug with toys that can be played with, a lego station, puzzles, and coloring. They have storytime twice a week in the mornings. They seem to have a lot of other activities for kids too. They always decorate the library cute for themes they do. They also have a take home craft you can grab! Overall a great library. I would love to see a toy check out station (like mesa library), and some different toddler classes (like a music and move class- apache junction library has something like this). They also have interactive learning games on the kids computers here. Staff have always been nice and helpful. Would recommend!

Apparently, their goal is to encourage teens to use the space--but does that really mean parents can't quietly assist their kids? The section was nearly empty, with only two other kids present. I initially explained to the first staff member that I would leave once my son was finished searching, yet she still felt the need to give me attitude. Barely three minutes later, a second staff member came in and, just as rudely, reminded me that this section was strictly for teenagers--making me feel as if I was breaking some major rule. I pointed out that my son was still looking for his book, but the unnecessary policing continued. Once he was finished, I told him, "Let's go to the open area," since apparently moms aren't allowed in the teen section. The fact that this kind of petty enforcement exists in a PUBLIC library--a space funded by taxpayers--is beyond ridiculous. If you have a shy teen who might need support while navigating the teen section, I'd suggest finding another library. Otherwise, be prepared to be watched like a hawk for simply helping your own child.

There was live music, the architect spoke explaining the light and architecture at work for the special hour (12-1). It was beautiful and fascinating to witness. There was also a demonstration of the Washington Printing Press in the Rare Book Room with a special print that day created by library staff. There was also a limited tshirt that day at the Friends Bookstore with a print from the printing press designed by library staff. Every day here is a special day, but today was an extra special day. Staff is always ready to help, is friendly, and is very knowledgeable - whether it's Adult Services Staff, Youth Services Staff, Circulation Staff, or Municipal Security; everyone is here to help make your experience incredible. There's a first floor with an art gallery, the children's area, the adult fiction area, the checkout area, the accounts desk, the security desk, and the auditorium. The second floor has the computer, printing, faxing, copying, and scanning area, the business area, the arizona room, workforce area, and college depot. I loved the informative display cases on the second floor which held information on filming western movies in Arizona, about Burton Barr - their namesake, and about the architecture of the building. This was a very nice, informative touch. The third floor is administration and is not open to the public. This is where the magic of Phoenix Public Library is planned. This is where the PPL team orders and processes PPL materials, where staff plans programs, marketing, and more! The fourth floor is the teen room, the makerspace, and where the youth services staff plans programs. The fifth floor is the largest reading room in the nation, yes, larger than NYC Central Public Library's reading room! It's an impressive floor and my favorite with those beautiful North, and South views of Phoenix. This floor holds the adult non-fiction collection, and reference collection. Each floor has restrooms, look for signs. Can't find it? Ask the friendly staff at any service desk. Enjoy your visit at an architectural gem, a Phoenix Point of Pride, and at one of the best library's in the nation.

My review is based on the courtesy of staff, their knowledge of services offered, the convenience of the huddle rooms -availability and reserving, and the items they occasionally have available for purchase. I've come here for printing recently instead of going to the UPS store. Saves me more money. You can submit things to be printed via email or you can print things yourself either from desktop or directly at a set up printer. There is a fee, which is minimal, and there are some limitations to what you can print. I've used the Culture Pass deal and saved the price of two tickets for two adults (online price, age 18-64, $26 each) to visit the Heard Museum. Very cool, and it was our first to the Heard Museum, so added bonus. More recently the gentleman I spoke to provided me a quick lesson on how/where/when to pick up future Culture Pass so I could participate again when I find passes available. Some of the Culture Pass locations you could visit: Desert Botanical Garden The Heard Museum Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Reid Park Zoo Gilbert Historical Museum Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Arcosanti Sedona Heritage Museum Lowell Observatory Superstition Mountain Museum and several more. Desktops are available for a reserved period of time, and wifi can be accessed without a specific set limit if you bring your own laptop. On one occasion we picked up a selection of music cds for $1 each. Better price than many second hand stores. And I did see they have books available for purchase. A few other activities the library offers: Ask a Master Gardener presented by U of A Maricopa Master Gardeners. Seed exchange Free Garden Seeds (limit 3) Break TIME Chandler Recreation Guide And numerous other Community Events -all viewable on their website. Keep in mind, you must have a library card to use most of the things mentioned.

People were having loud conversations, talking on speakerphone, children were crying and running around, and there were constant distractions everywhere. At one point, a woman sat next to me and conducted multiple business calls on speakerphone the entire time. I also overheard very personal conversations about evictions and divorces that really shouldn't be discussed loudly in a public study space. It was nearly impossible to focus or concentrate. I understand libraries serve many purposes today, but there should still be some level of respect for those trying to study or work quietly. Compared to libraries I've used in New York, this environment was far louder and much less conducive to studying. If it weren't for the computers and resources available, I would definitely choose another place to complete my coursework. Unfortunately, with over 30 hours left of classes and assignments to finish, I didn't have much choice. Very disappointing experience.
