A nice little library, not very big, but has everything kids would want and grown ups would need from a library. The kids section is pretty nice with lots of children's books, several computers w/preloaded kids software and then a few kids-only reservation-required computers. The stacks for adults are pretty standard. There's a little section of books for sale out front from their friends of the library and they have good books for very reasonable to downright great prices. Apparently they get lots of donations of good books in good shape. All in all, this is a smaller but still good enough library and even as visitors, we enjoyed it. read more

Came here for the first time to donate blood and of course had to look around. It is a small library but has a lot to offer. As I was walking up to the entrance, I noticed that they offered free water and allowed people to come in and cool down. It was over 110 degrees that day and I appreciated that that was something offered for those in need. I discovered that the library also offers cultural passes to some of our favorite museums and destinations. As I looked around, I also noticed that they had free seeds that you could get. You do need a library card and there is a limit of 3 packets per three weeks. Both color and b/w copies can be done. The restroom was spotless and well-maintained. Very quiet inside - unless I'm there. Will I be back......of course. As I had to get a library card for the seeds and found a book I had to take home to read. read more

I grew up in libraries, really, spent a lot of time in my childhood at libraries, and it's always my happy place. This is my local library, and while it's smaller than other branches, I still enjoy coming here. Another Yelper asked me to do the Maricopa reads summer challenge with her, so I said, "Sure, why not?" I am always reading, so this will be fun! As an adult, you can also participate, and once you get to certain levels of points, the library rewards you with some prizes. I came here yesterday to check out my prizes, and the librarian was nice and handed me items I won. I got a free drink pass for Cane's chicken, a one day pass use for AZ parks, and also a free coupon to collect a gently used book at any local library. I honestly don't need any of these items, but it's still fun to win prizes. If you know me, you'll know I love to win free items, but honestly, who doesn't? Local libraries here also offer cultural passes to some of our favorite museums and destinations, so I really appreciate that! I did spot some passes for the Heard Museum, so next time, I am here, I will check them out so I can visit the museum. I have checked out the cultural passes for the Desert Museum in Tucson, and that was great! This library is also a cooling center, and if you need a reprieve from our hot desert weather, this place is for you. They also provide bottled water too. This time, when I was here, they were also proving free covid at home tests and also opiate naloxone reveral kits. I really appreciated seeing that! I love public libraries. Love coming here for the toddler classes. The Librarians and class instructors are all very nice and helpful.

First time visiting here was during the blood drive that was held here. The library is on the smaller side that has everything that the figure libraries half as well. There's plenty of parking and they even have EV charging. read more

I used this library for 15 years prior to moving. I think it's the best for many reasons. wide range of books: historical, comedic, mysterious, thriller, romantic etc. great kids books free interlibrary book rentals: I used frequently and never disappointed adequate seating for reading free computers and wifi set up a rental system during the pandemic so no face to face needed I've been to other Phoenix/Tempe/Chandler libraries. While they are good, Ironwood is the best I'm back in Ahwatukee and everything went smoothly so that I got a new library card with ease. It seems like a very nice building and a nice location, and my niece and I were very excited to get some work done. But we walked into the building at exactly 6:00 PM on a weeknight when their Yelp hours specifically stated that they were open until 8:00, so we thought we were fine. Well it turns out that the Yelp hours were wrong, and they actually closed at 6:00 PM, so even though the doors were unlocked and we made it inside in time, even as far as the lobby, a woman there approached us and immediately told us that they were closed and that we needed to leave. She was not nice about it either. What was funny is that we saw other people milling around inside, so we figured it should be fine for that reason alone, plus combined with the fact that it said 8:00 PM on Yelp, so I thought maybe she would have a heart and understand our expectation, but she wasn't having it. When I pointed to the Yelp website on my iphone and how it says they close at 8pm, she said that that didn't matter, and that all that mattered was their website. I get her point, but at the same time, is it not still a public courtesy to update your hours on generally accepted listing websites like for example Google and Yelp? I saw google has it right. I just thought it was interesting that she didn't have any general sense of responsibility or accountability for not updating the Yelp hours, and also couldn't even let us stick around for 10 minutes to look up a book really quick. Also we walked back to the car and by the time we left at like 6:08pm we still saw people spilling out of the library, it was very disappointing all around. I don't understand why they don't have any sense of civic duty to keep their hours updated on Yelp. Meanwhile I just tried to update their hours on Yelp, will see if it works. In a nutshell, closed Sunday, open M/F/S 9-5 and T/W/TH 9-6. We went to the other library nearby in Chandler and they were open to 8pm and were very helpful. I would have just emailed them via their website but I did not see a way to contact them. read more

This is a nice small library. I live in Chandler and this is the closest Phoenix branch to me. I reserve my books online, they notify me via email when they are ready to be picked up, and I go pick them up. Easy and convenient. I like that because it increases the selection of books I can get since you can request any book within the entire Phoenix library system. read more

I visited this library to study. I have my personal books and laptop, just needed a space to study. The place is quiet and clean. Although the space is not that big, there is enough accomodation for visitors. I would recommend going there! read more

Although there is nothing particularly wrong with this library, it is simply 'ok' in my book. They pack quite a bit of books that ranges from old to new across all genres in this limited space. What keeps this from being a 4 or 5 star review is the limited seating and the reading environment that is limited due to the packed location. read more

Wow! My first time to this library. Impressed! Really small parking, but I have never seen a library with a BIG parking lot anyway so we all managed. I think I will walk to visit next time. Plenty of chairs and computers available. Free wifi as well. Oh AND because this is Arizona it is kept nice and cool. The bathrooms are clean and adequate. Getting a library card is easy. Showed Driver's LIcence and got a card. You get a choice of key card or full sized card. This location has passes for 2 to various museums and sights around Arizona. I have not done this yet, but will post the process once I do. I like it! read more

This is a small library, but they are extremely helpful. I found it much easier and quicker to get things done at this library then at Burton Barr downtown, simply because of size/volume. The best part? They are close! And, you can return anything within the Phoenix Public Library system to any location. So, if I get a book from downtown and need to return it... I don't have to drive all the way back downtown! I'm so lucky to have a library here in Ahwatukee! read more

I used to love coming to this library to study and use the culture passes. But I've slowly realized this library basically doubles as a community center. I will no longer be coming to ironwood because today they literally hosted a magic show or something in the middle of the library with loud speakers and screaming kids. If you are looking for a quiet place to study, read, etc. Don't come here. read more

This is a great library. It's in a good location, the WIFI is free and there's a good selection of items. They recently started stocking television shows, which is awesome! They have both old and new shows on DVD and the best part is, they're free! I really love the hold system. If there's something I want at another library, I can just place a hold and within a few days, it's shipped to me and I can pick it up. The staff is pretty great at this location. Everyone i've encountered has been helpful and nice. All the librarians who do storytime are great! The shelvers manage to keep the shelves in decent order and the check out desk is quick with my holds! read more

Really appreciate the helpful staff here. They are pretty knowledgable and if not, then tbey search out the answer. My kiddo can always feel good to ask what kid wants. Purified water dispenser available. Clean restrooms. I really like that they have childrens restroom too. Wish it was strictly KIDS ONLY though, no random adults. I have been coming here for years since my kiddo was a baby. Nothing has changed. No improvements, fresh paint, new couches, nothing for about 8 yrs. But the sad part is I feel they could update the kids section. Maybe a nice mural, couches, pillows, small aquarium, complete puzzles, etc. Also, I feel like the youtube channels/internet access in childrens should be limited to educational games or programming only. No access to regular youtube. Its repulsive to walk by and see a child watching some skantily dressed people shaking it in videos. *Culture Pass is a must. Must check out at desk and they give a receipt which is your ticket. But worth it to get free entry for two to a interesting place. read more

This library has the BEST infant and toddler classes. I've been to several different places for classes with my daughter and this is my favorite place to go. The songs and the music and the stories,,, it's all done so well. My daughter loves it and definitely learns a lot going to these classes. And there free taboot. read more

One of my favorite libraries! Nice and clean and a decent selection of books and DVD's considering its size. Two things to note are the staff who often seem annoyed at having to check books out when the self checkout doesn't work. Also, I find all the informational solicitation out front a bit annoying. Other than that I like be this library also for the extra programs and our daughter loves the reading to a dog event. read more

The children's section has an amazing assortment of books and a cute play area that has some innovative activities for little ones to do while their parents gather books nearby. I love my library. I can put books, Cds, DVDs on hold via my account at home, and I get email notifications for holds ready, items due, etc... I am studying Spanish online through their education resources. It's a super neighborhood library. I only gave it 3 stars because. Staff was so great BUT the nice, helpful staff is gone and mostly only the grumpy people are left; I always look to see if any nice staff are available at the desk before I ask for help. One of them is just mean. I like the rearrangements done recently to the layout it changed traffic flow inside. The parking lot is cramped so drive slow and be careful! read more

I must say I really enjoyed this little gem of a library. I just recently moved back to Phoenix (Ahwatukee) after 4 years of hanging tight on the far east side of town (Gilbert/Chandler area). This is a very clean library with ample seating and various degrees of lighting depending on what area you are in. I'm one of those nerds that still enjoy reading a good hardback book. I noticed they also had a decent amount of public computers available if you need a place to get some work done. The staff was really friendly and the lady at the desk quickly helped me to update my information in the system. They don't have a large selection at this library but it is in-network with all the other Phoenix libraries so you can reserve a book from another library or have a book sent here for pick-up. Another cool thing about this place is they have meeting space you can rent out for less than $10 an hour! Go check out your public libraries, heck your tax dollars are funding them so you might as well use them. read more

As many of the other Yelpers have summarized, this is a great community library in the Ahwatukee area. The place has great upkeep and everything feels new and clean. It is a cove of books and more than a dozen computers. There are plenty tables go study and lots of outlets. The noise is minimal but there is no quiet room for those who need to study in complete silence. The staff is super friendly but there are also self automated check outs for those who like to do things themselves. read more
