I might actually give them close to a 5 for menu. The S'mores Martini is very strong and very good. When it comes out, they set the marshmallows on fire -- I love an interactive cocktail. The crab cakes were excellent, the duck truffle fries were addictive (lots of parm cheese), the fried cheese was very good (especially dunked in the white sauce), and the Cajun flatbread was good (not as great as we expected). The dessert cheesecake was good as well though I'd probably opt to try one of the other desserts next time. The thing that drags the review down a bit for me is the ambiance. It feels like it's stuck in the 80's, but it's a new restaurant so the decor is intentional. It feels very 90's Vegas with the "modern" chandeliers and black decor. It might be okay if they had Frank Sinatra playing, but it's mostly pop from the 2000's, which doesn't match the decor. The windowless dark rooms make me want to take my food to go next time That said, it might not bother others but I'd just know that going in if you have high expectations.

This was nice! To start the service was great, the quality of the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was wonderful! They no longer serve the steaks on the salt blocks anymore, or so we were told. It is cooked on th salt blocks and then brought out on actual plates. Still was delicious. I did find it funny how it was paired with only 4-5 strands of asparagus which were just meh, I think the proportion was just a bit odd. My risotto tasted great but it was a bit underdone (still crunchy). If it's one thing that you should get, I'd say any of their appetizers! We ordered one of each although not all pictured, I'd say go for the ahi ahi tuna, that one bar far was the best bang for your buck! All were tasty and drinks were great! Food did take a bit to come out but understandable because we were a party of 12 but other than that, it was a great experience. Would visit again!

Came here for the first time last month. The wait time was crazy long even though we were the only table seated in the back section of the restaurant (after 1hr of being there we only had our appetizers). The music was too loud, so I asked the waitress if they could turn it down, but they said they couldn't. It was also way too darkly lit in the back seating area. They didn't bring out the meals at the same time (took an extra 10 minutes for someone to get their meal) The salt block was cool, but overall experience was mediocre. When we complained to the staff about their experience, they did offer to give us a coupon for next visit - likely won't visit again though

What a massive disappointment! We were excited to try SALT after reading the reviews. Huge modern place. You walk into an enormous bar room but have to hunt for the waitress strand in the far back corner - that leads to a couple of large, weirdly lit dining rooms. New, modern, cold grey walls with black trim - more suited for a funeral home. The prices were exceptionally high for the area - but I am perfectly ok with that - often, that leads to an amazing experience - this was not one of those times. They say they are known for their steaks - yet they only have a NY Strip and a ribeye on the menu - not my idea of great cuts. I went with the Pork chop - my guest had the fish. Both dishes were so poorly cooked, so tuff and overdone - it's no wonder why they put a mound of "chutney" on top of it. The chop was served on a strange "Salt brick," - but then they rushed to get you to put everything on a small salad plate - so they could use the "salt lick" for the next order (or something). I had a glass of wine (pretty sure it came out of a box), coffee was ice cold - so they put it in the microwave! Desert was a Costco product. $200 - including a nice tip (not their fault the kitchen sucks) One last comment - I have NEVER been to a restaurant where I have been asked so many times (I think it was 4) if we were celebrating a special occasion. WTF? I guess because we weren't wearing cut-off jeans. LOL Another review talked about this being a modern Super Club. NO WAY. Supper Clubs are known for their cocktails and quality cooking...SALT has neither! Sorry, but "You ain't worth the salt in my tears."

Came for my Mom's birthday. Loved everything about it, the colors, the service and food! The steaks come on a salt block with a plate on the side - the longer it stays on the salt the saltier it gets. All delicious. I got the Del Ray - very fruity with Malibu/Lemonade vibes. The salmon was great, the sauce mixed in with the rice is a flavor combination I always love. Carrots on the side - soft and salty. The potatoes with the New York Strip were really tasty. Seriously everything was good! The dessert menu is ~ live action - they bring all desserts out on a tray to see (I always look up pics on Yelp before ordering so I love this). We got crème brûlée and turtle cheesecake (they were unfortunately out of the banana bread pudding). They were training many people tonight so I hope to see them busy next time I come. Everything was amazing I'm glad we came! Can't wait to come back!

Had a wonderful evening at Salt tonight. Originally we had reservations at 5pm for the igloo as my mom has cancer and is currently going through chemo and we needed to be separated from others for that reason. Unfortunately they couldn't get everything working with the igloo, but they called me at 4 to let me know and made special accommodations for us to be in our own area away from others. Dana was great making sure everything was set up and totally made it extra special. Nick was our server and he was great! Explained the specials and made sure we were always good on drinks. The martinis....excellent!!! Had the grasshopper and the s'more and they were so good! We had the tenderloin with shrimp, bone in ribeye, fried haddock and shrimp, and the Mediterranean salmon, and Nick explained with the food and the salt blocks that the longer everythjng stayed on them the saltier things got. Everything was superbly excellent!!!! I got the roasted Brussel sprouts with my bone in ribeye instead of asparagus and they were just how I liked them! Perfectly roasted and yummy! My steak cook beautifully was flavorful and I splurged on the mushrooms....delicious!!! Unfortunately my pics of the bone in rib-eye were not great or didn't turn out but I'm attaching one blurry one...sorry...but really amazing flavors and when things got a bit salty we moved our steaks to plates instead of the salt block. The pesto risotto was super good too as I got that instead of a potato choice. We started with the cheese curds, spinach artichoke dip and the duck truffle fries. The gravy with those duck truffle fries....I need that gravy every day....it AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!! Almost reminded me of a poutine if you took a cheese curd, with a French fry and dipped it in that delicious gravy!!!!!! All were amazing though!!! The wonton like crispy chips with the spinach dip were so light and really good! My mom had the French onion soup too and just loved how rich it was and all the onions!!!! Loved loved loved SALT and it's now in my top 5 as this was our first dinner here as we had lunch there and thought it was great but had not tried the dinner yet. Wish they still served lunch and they totally need to put the maple sweet potato fries back on the menu as this is a MUST when eating there. They are soooooooooooo good...lucky for me those came with the fish and shrimp special they had tonight so I got to sneak some on my plate. Highly highly recommend! The bartenders were great, staff wonderful and honestly the ambiance was not cold as I have read from other reviews but reflected the place well. They made our time there perfect and having my mom there and out for a change made the night extra special. I will never forget tonight and the excellent food and family time! Thank you SALT!!!!

Was not expecting this place! You will be driving through the beautiful town of kaukauna and then all of a sudden you are seeing a farm field and restaurant. Amazing service! If you are looking for higher level dining experience and a unique practice (they grill their steaks on salt blocks) then Salt is the place for you. We did not try anything that was not delicious. Check out the menu and you can try something more tame or go for some of the more adventurous fare.

    Great bar.

What a surprise find in Kaukauna,Wi. Tip: closed Sunday and Monday. Tip2: make reservations Tip3: reserve the outdoor igloo/dome dining. So cool. Great beer selection. Apps: try the fried risotto. Main: coconut crusted mahi-mahi with coconut rice. I ordered asparagus and requested to leave it crunchy. Not a fan of wimpy... it was perfect. Definitely recommend. Main: Snapper and grilled shrimp on saffron risotto ordered with crunchy/aldente asparagus. Perfection! So good. We aren't fans of food getting cold so we always forget to take pics. The place is large and pretty dark after hours so when you walk in, you're really unsure where the dining hostess is located. Immediately we were greeted by the bartender and offered a seat or offered directions where to check in. Friendly and knowledgeable bartender with fast and efficient service. We ordered drinks.apps and a main and were out in less than an hour on a Thursday between 5-6pm. They have a large bar selection and great martini options. Top shelf and well options. Great for an intimate dinner or group gathering. No problems with parking at all. I love small town dining gems and this is one.

Mushroom Swiss burger with sweet potato fries
    Tracy N.

I went here for lunch today and the mushroom Swiss burger was one of the best I've had in my life. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly and were crisp. The drinks are strong and the staff is personable. Lunch has a more limited menu but everything I ordered was absolutely fantastic.

Halibut with Saffron Risotto and Tomahawk Bone-In Pork Chop

Made a reservation online for an anniversary dinner to be had on a Thursday evening(online booking is a nice offering). Ambiance is very nice, large modern bar right when you walk in that leads to the hostess table. Sat immediately and service came by very quickly to begin the meal. Tried the shrimp and chorizo nachos for a shareable and they were pretty decent! Shrimp was cooked well and the portion was plenty for two. Ordered the Lauderdale cocktail signature cocktail and it was fantastic. For dinner we ordered the seared Halibut with saffron risotto, and The Salt Block Tomahawk Bone-In Pork Chop. The plates were delivered and we immediately noticed the amount of liquid that separated from the risotto had pooled on the Halibut plate. The Pork Chop looked better aside from the charred grill marks. Upon tasting the Halibut it revealed that it had been over cooked and the protein was chewy and sticking to our teeth. The Saffron Risotto was relatively Al dente in some spots yet with pockets of crunchy uncooked rice throughout. The saffron tasted cheap, plasticky, and overwhelming, not the sweet, floral, earthy profile it should be. The healthy amount of citrus in the plate helped but overall a major loss on execution of this plate. The Pork Chop was a great looking cut, but it was thick, dry and yielded little to no flavor with the exception of the outside that still, seemed to have very little flavor aside from the dark grill marks that resulted in a handful of unpleasant burnt tasting bites. The asparagus was cooked perfect and along with a solid garlic mash those two items were unfortunately the "highlights" of the meal. At the price point for the plates, I'm pretty disappointed. If you're offering an elevated menu with prices to match, the expectation is that you provide a well executed dish. Not sure if the executive chef isn't present for Thursday dinner service, but I don't think you could convince me to pay for another meal here. Looking back this critique should have been left in person to give the kitchen a chance to correct but with a busy evening after dinner we had just decided to cut our losses and not come back. Great service, good drinks, fantastically curated menu concept, just horrible execution.
