The Salt Cellar is a bit like some of the virgin islands, hard to find but so much enjoyable once you find it.
First, when going there, the staff actually smile, it costs nothing smiling but brings so much before even tasting the food.
The small staircase going down to the cellar gives a certain sense of going to someone's home.
The decor is quite rustic (too much maybe?) and the premises not extremely well ventilated.
For lunch time, this can be quite busy with business people from upper and lower Mount Street coming to get one of their sandwiches... well, let's talk about the sandwiches... Oh My Goodness!!!
I cannot think of any other places where I have had such a chicken breast; tender, tasty and big!
I would recommend: brown bread (home-made), coleslaw, bacon, melted swiss cheese and this famous-to-be (I would hope) breaded chicken breast.
Honestly, if you're around the area and want to treat yourself with a nice sandwich, think of the Salt Cellar.
The only minor points I could see: the premises, although it's a good networking place as a lot of business people come, their hot chocolate (I'm sorry but a Cadbury chocolate powder drink is not what I call a hot chocolate) and their location.
In a nutshell, this is a fine place to go and have a good, quick lunch. Sandwiches are definitely some of the best ones around. This would certainly deserve to be more known.
And I insist again, people there look like they love their jobs and want to share this passion with their customers - this make a huge difference!
4 stars - well deserved! read more
