Popped in for a drink after diner and this is simply a nice place to chill. Inside the Horton grand hotel it is a time capsule of nicer times and more elegant surroundings. The drinks were superbly crafted and our server was excellent.

We were on an old fashioned & whiskey bar hunt and stumbled upon salt & whiskey inside the lobby of the hotel. Two of us first ordered a specialty old fashioned (I forget the name) and they ultimately both just tasted like bitters, which was disappointing. Luckily they had a happy hour and we then ordered their classic old fashioned's, which were way better. Did not try any of the food, but drinks and ambiance made this a 4 star experience! The staff was nice as well. Probably would return to try some of their gorgeous looking food. P.S. do not try to play the piano in the lobby, it is not allowed hahah :)

We got three medallions with broccolini, mashed potatoes and some delicious little onions. Forgot to take a picture of the full plate.

Ambience was top notch. Very chill vibe. Food was great. There was a full bar, our server was knowledgeable as neither of us like whiskey. I would return. Excellent place to show off distinguished guests.

Specialty cocktail from Chris for the win!

Salt & Whiskey is incredible, mostly thanks to Tyler, Chris, and Bailey. The service is top-notch--they are welcoming, fast, and make the whole experience better. On top of that, the drinks are perfectly crafted every time. If you want great cocktails and even better service, go see these three!

Every time I come here the people are so welcoming and kind. Everyone is treated as a local coming here. Definitely come back over and over for the food, drinks, and service. Chris and Tyler always behind the bar with the greatest personalities and best drinks. Bailey and Erika are equally as amazing. Love the people here and the food and drinks just make it even better. Highly recommend.

We stopped in after receiving courtesy drinks and decided to give Salt & Whiskey a proper try. The service was decent overall--our server was a bit on the slower side, but the bartender more than made up for it with friendly energy and generous samples that helped us pick our drinks. The food? Surprisingly good for what it was--well-prepared and satisfying, exceeding our expectations for a casual bite. All in all, a warm, relaxed experience with a few bright spots that made the visit worthwhile.

historic spot full of history and great bites. Came here for the steak frites and sliders with some truffle fries. all items were delicious and even had a comic con themed cocktail. The horton grand hotel has beautiful architecture and san diego history so for sure take the time to stroll by after (or before while you may wait).

We decided to visit the beautiful and classic bar at Salt & Whiskey tonight to enjoy some drinks after being introduced to the hotel a couple of nights ago during a ghost tour. We were greeted by a friendly group of bar staff and sat down. Bailey took our order and made THE most delicious espresso martini I have ever had!! I'm usually a one and done but I had to have another! She was so sweet and attentive to our small party and made the experience even better than we imagined when we walked in. We will definitely be back and tell our friends to visit!

After a trolly car tour we stumbled upon this place. I will say we were not greeted well and bartender was not in the best spirits but we had tremendous food and drinks. After we had been there a while and due to our sparkling personalities the service brightened. The food is a solid 5 as is the interior. Old historical hotel. Quite lovely.

    Margherita flatbread & shrimp tacos

Located inside the Horton Grand Hotel, this fancy looking restaurant caught our attention. Sadly, it was all looks and not much to brag about in terms of food and service. My friend and I stopped by for lunch last Friday (during Comic-Con). The restaurant was relatively empty when we came for lunch. Our server handed us the menu, filled our water glasses, and just disappeared. About 20 minutes later, we had to hunt her down to place our order. Since it was Comic-Con week, the lunch menu was very limited. We ordered a Margherita Flatbread and Shrimp Tacos to share. The flatbread was EXTREMELY GREASY! This was interesting, as you wouldn't expect this type of pizza to be greasy because there were no pepperoni or bacon that would explain the grease. We concluded that the grease had to have come from the sauce or they heavily greased the bottom of the flatbread. It was awful. I typically gravitate towards the Margherita Flatbread because it's relatively healthy in comparison to other pizzas/flatbreads. Clearly, this was a far cry from "healthy." In addition to the grease, the flavor of the sauce was just bad. The shrimp tacos were ok. You can't really mess up this dish unless you overcooked the shrimp. The shrimp were grilled and were a tad bit greasy. Overall, we were very disappointed with our lunch. The only good thing was the server did not charge us for the sparking water. We both asked for lime and she said they ran out of lime; they only had one rotten piece(it was brown, not green). Interestingly, our tacos miraculously came with 2 pieces of lime and they weren't rotten! Here's a tip: If it's rotten, don't serve it!

I knew it was a speakeasy but he did not. I was trying to double-check on my phone that Craft & Commerce was the right restaurant its housed in (yes) when he tried to jet set off down the block "to keep looking" rather than listen to me. I yelled, "MOTHER!" by accident and then he did truly leave me hahaha. He resurfaced a few minutes later, and then we walked in. It was 5:15 at the time, so 15 minutes after opening. I had NO IDEA how popular this spot was, nor anything about its nation-wide reputation. I actually didn't know that until two days ago when a Yelp-friend at home here in Richmond, Virginia, exclaimed excitedly when I told her we stopped in. The host who greeted us was kind, informed us there had been a line to get in that day, but that they had one barrel left; we jumped on it of course. It was happy hour, so the first cocktail I ordered was dirt cheap at $9. It was the Imperial Hawaiian with gin, rum, lemon, pineapple, and orgeat. I really shouldn't have ordered a second drink after that one, but I did have the classic Saturn later on in the night and it was absurdly good! Definitely my favorite of the two. The moody tiki vibe was so cool and fun. They even had frogs you could play on the tables. We had some fun neighbors too, which livened up the experience even more. We had a great time and both walked out heavily buzzed. We were asleep by 8 that night, but it was worth it!

The menu is mostly rum drinks since this is a rum bar however since I'm not the biggest fan I ordered the only thing with tequila on the menu. My drink was actually really good, it was refreshing, not too sweet or strong at all. I just wish there would be more variety.
