Now where this restaurant needs some work is on the chips themselves. I am not sure if it was an off day but my chips came out dry and felt like they have been sitting out for a while. I'd expect with paying almost 30 quid that the chips would have been better quality. Overall, I would still recommend this place and would return in the future hoping that the chips are improved.

I don't know if the quality of fish and chips is typical for London, but I'm not that impressed. A small town on the Oregon coast had the best fish and chips ever. I will say, the onion rings were the best even though they were a little greasy. The coleslaw is not like USA slaw, but it was pretty good. I will probably try another restaurant for fish and chips to get a good comparison.

One of my colleagues told me of a place close by our old office that was good, and I guess it was here since it is the only place close to Frying Pan Alley. When I arrived I saw that it was a "chippy" and smiled since I had never been in one before. I had an hour till closing so did not dawdle. Went whole hog for the large cod and chips with a side of mushy peas - gotta have at least one veg. For dessert I had the Spotted Dick with Custard. Even though they were fairly close to closing the food was hot, fresh and delicious. Good to see real chips and malt vinegar. Again, they don't use vinegar in the US. Ambience was rustic and nothing fancy and also nothing pretentious. Server was a friendly fellow so service was great.
