Oh, how lucky we are to have such a gem in this town! From the second you walk in, you are transported to another country with knickknacks, candles galore and white table cloths. It feels like you are visiting your Polish grans house that just wants to feed to you a delicious meal. And you're in luck! Cause a delicious meal is what's for dinner. The service is top notch! The wait staff is seasoned, kind, professional and helpful. I love seeing the same faces over the years and the food never disappoints. I'm not a beer drinker, and yet, I always go for the Lomza! It just feels right and pairs perfectly with every dish they offer. Warm bread and butter to start. Soft and delicious. A bowl of hardly cabbage soup is always what I get. I can't get enough of it! The sausage is just to die for! Perfectly grilled, with delicious cabbage and meat Bigos (stew) underneath. And the potatoes are out of this world! Crispy outside and the most creamy inside. The lamb shank was tender as could be with so much flavor. And of course, more of those famous potatoes! From the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave, you feel like family. Salt and Sweet is an affordable fine dining experience you must try!!!

Salt & Sweet Restaurant 3092 Lake Washington Rd., Melbourne, FL 32934 5 Stars I know that the Iron Curtain came down a long time ago, however, it took me years to not see Eastern Europe as a bleak, gray, bullet ridden wasteland peopled by hunched over women in scarfs. These days, I see it as a vibrant, colorful area of the Globe with oft-untouched treasures. That said, I do NOT think of fine dining when I think of Poland. I think meat, potatoes, dumplings and cabbage. I wager you do as well. The fare at Salt & Sweet in Melbourne, FL, has shattered that perception. Roxanne is my server today. I found her to be extremely honest and hospitable. She answered all of my questions regarding the menu without hesitation. I ordered a bowl of Tomato soup, a Polish Sampler and one of their Special Polish Dishes, Zrazy Polskie. While awaiting Roxanne's return, I took in the ambiance. I loved the décor and the old-world feel it exuded. The room was so charming that I half-expected someone's Babcia to emerge from the kitchen, berating staff with a cast-iron skillet in hand. Sadly (depending on how you look at it), it was Roxanne and not a loving Babcia who emerged bearing our Polish nutriment. First to grace the Big Boy's palate was the Tomato soup. Unlike some soups, this was not inspissated, but instead had the perfect viscosity for a Tomato soup and the flavor was complex, savory, and extensive in its taste. Next, I turned my attention to the Polish Sampler. This includes Pierogi, Golabki and Polish Sausage. At this time, I insist you look at those pictures. Yes, everything looked delectable. On this platter, the Pierogi are Polish-style and not Russian. These are filled with seasoned, minced meat and topped with sauteed onions. By far, some of the best Pierogi I have scarfed down. Never having had Golabki, I was delightfully surprised by the intricate flavors washing over my tongue. This is a Polish delight of meat-stuffed cabbage rolls topped with tomato sauce. In a word, this was, "Wow." Forcing myself onto the Polish sausage it was robust yet frangible. I turned my utensils on the Zrazy Polskie. This consisted of rolled beef stuffed with bacon, sauteed onions, dill pickles and bell peppers. This is a pretty typical "Gourmet" dish of Eastern Europe. I first encountered its German cousin, Rouladen. This was also out of this world. Everything was prepared with care and love and cooked perfectly. What else can I say? The Big Boy says, "Leave your expectations at home and experience Polish fine dining at its best!"

It was our first time here and our first time really trying Polish cuisine so I really don't have anything to compare itit too. With that being said you walk in and the decor and ambience was very nice. We were greeted as we walked in and seated right away. There was 3 of us, we had the duck, the sampler plate and golabki along with the dill pickle soup and had the appetizer escargot. The soup was an amazing treat of flavors. All of the dishes had nice portions and once again flavors that we've never tasted before that makes me wish I'd tried this place years ago. Along with a super nice and friendly service makes for an enjoyable experience. With no doubt we will be back!

    Sampler, amazing!!

We weren't even aware this place existed since it's in a strip mall but we are so glad we discovered it. The inside is not very big but super cute. There was one woman who acted as hostess and server who provided wonderful service and at the end thanked us for our patronage. The food was all amazing and very authentic, we especially enjoyed the Russian perogies, sausage, and veal. We will definitely tell our friends and be back.

Delicious food, great service! I got the Golden Duck and it was so good! Bread was also fresh and soft. Cabbage soup was good, just like how Mom would've made it. Pierogi also very delicious. I would recommend trying the sampler platter for a first timer here to see what you'd like!

I looked at the items in the market. Nothing stood out that I had to get. We then sat down and met our waiter which I believe is also the owner. He had that like Eastern European way about him, stern, direct and right to the point. We ordered the polish plate, pierogi, and potato pancakes and goo-lash. The pancakes came first. You can tell they're homemade. Very thin. Different sizes. They were good. The owner told us to try it with sugar as that's how they do it in Poland. I tried it. It was different. I then tried the pierogi. He gave us one cheese potato, one sauerkraut and one with something else. They were also good. We then got the polish plate which came with sausage, sauerkraut with meat, stuffed cabbage and potatoes. It was ok. I thought the potatoes were eh. The cabbage and the sauce was good the sausage was good. I then got the goo-lash. That thing was thick with large pieces of pork and gnocchi. That was very good. Filling too. Overall, the food was good. Nothing really bad. Solid place. I'd come back.

She greeted me warmly as usual. Since I used to live in the Chicago-South Bend, IN area, I provided her a little garden flag from the Pierogi Festival I would attend when I was up in that area. She hung it proudly in her deli and thanked me for the gift. I thanked her for bringing authentic Polish food back into my life! I purchased the Polish kielbasa sausage again as well as the Polish ham. Both were exceptional the last time I purchased them. This time, I added frozen pierogies-one made with cheese and the other with sauerkraut. It reminded me of the pierogies my mom used to make, and I cannot wait to serve them for the holidays. I then asked Monica if she had any golabki (stuffed cabbage). She said, "I just made some fresh this morning." I purchased a package of three. I had two of them later that evening and they brought back great memories of my past. They were as good as babcia (grandmother) used to make! It's always fun and entertaining to stop in here and enjoy a laugh with Monica. If you want authentic Polish supplies, this is the place to go!

I was pleasantly surprised to the find that it is a small international market store that offers groceries - canned, refrigerated and frozen - candies and other treats along with a small menu of food items and some personal care staples. I am most intrigued by the grocery options and they carry a few unique items that I've not seen in bigger brand stores like Walmart, Publix or Sprouts. A few times that I've come in since, I have seen some ladies in the back hand rolling dough for the pastries or other breaded goods sold. I do know that if you purchase a meat pie or pastry, that they will offer to warm it up for you. I've had a meat pie and a Danish and they both were delicious. It seems that most people order food items to go, however, they do have a quiet corner that appears to be set for indoor dining use. The prices of everything seem pretty reasonable and fair to me. I'm surprised at the variety of items that they carry given the small square footage that they have - they have done well. I think that this is definitely a gem hidden in plain sight. You may find that it is worth checking out.

There is a ton of seating both inside and outside, and at certain times there is live German music inside which is broadcasted outside on TV and speakers! One thing I was really impressed by was their ability to substitute sides. I substituted both of my sides for no extra charge. I highly recommend the German potato salad (warm kartoffelsalat) instead of French fries for a way more traditional schnitzel experience. The cucumber salad (gurkensalat), egg noodles with gravy (spätzle mit soße), and sauerkraut (sauerkraut) were all delightful as well!
