Charming dining room with a rustic yet modern vibe, waitresses always at the ready, and cutlery tucked into a brown paper envelope: this restaurant has all the makings of a truly wonderful Italian meal.
Unfortunately, the food is not up to snuff. They brought out wholemeal bread and two tiny dips (red pepper and parmiggiano--good when mixed) as an amuse bouche. Then, our starter arrived: burrata, served with olive oil and salt. You can't really go wrong with burrata. After just one bite into our main courses, however, my dining companion and I knew we wouldn't be coming back. He had meat lasagna, I the recommended beef ravioli in tomato and spring vegetable sauce. In short, they lacked taste and originality. I had to add lots of parmesan (the kind you buy pre-grated in itty bitty granules, heavily processed) to bring out the flavor. The lasagna was equally unimpressive.
As another reviewer mentioned, the portions were small. This I didn't mind, because the taste didn't leave me wanting more. Good thing we ordered the burrata, though. Otherwise we would have walked away disappointed and still hungry! read more
