I really enjoyed this place. We sat outside to eat. The menu is on a chalkboard in English and French. I ordered escargot as a starter. Yummy! Very tender and the sauce was very nice garlic butter. I had scallops with a risotto top with curry vegetables blend and made into a pate. It had a sweet sauce on the plate. Very well done. It had some thinly sliced fried scallions on top of the scallops. It was pretty but I didn't like them. Everything else was delicious. This is a typical Paris cafe. It was a bit chilly so they had blankets at each table and a heat lamp on. It seems to be a local spot. Which is always refreshing instead of catering to tourists. I would definitely go back again!

At the recommendation of hotel staff enjoyed our first meal in Paris at Cafe Milou. It's where the locals go. We made our way ordering food with limited French on our part and English on the servers part, she was a trooper. The food was tasty, very homemade in taste and a nice presentation. The place is very small, limited seating outside, and a great atmosphere. Great first meal to celebrate our arrival in Paris!

Very friendly and affordable cafe just around the corner from the train station. It sits across from un petit parc, creating a little island of solitude and quiet around the otherwise frenetic space.

This is the new facade. It's black, not like the old red one.

Nice meal in a restaurant that is not touristy in the least, despite being quite near the Gare Montparnasse. We had the brochettes Provençal, which were great--quite tender, and perfectly done--and the mushroom omelette. The mulled wine was delicious. Great service. The menu is only in French, but our very cool waiter was mostly able to translate it for us. Check out some of the Breton businesses nearby.

Tomato, basil, mozzarella salad. To. Die. For.

It's become like a set image of what one, as a tourist, should do in addition to the Eifel Tower, The Louvre, etc. We had only one day in Paris, and wanting to make the most of it, we avoided a lot of the touristy stuff like tours, and crowded restaurants to save time. As you can imagine, the mentioned cafes were packed, with wait lines and on top of that it was hot outside. So instead we kept walking to find this cute little place, on Rue Jacob. One outside table seemed to be waiting just for us. There was construction outside so maybe this is why it was not as busy as the rest of the places but to us that was perfect. We grabbed that one table, wanting to do the "must do" outside seating Paris thing, and immediately the girls that worked there came out with waters and menus (English version). They set the table for us, and allowed us some minutes to make our choice. They had some food options, including meats and cheeses to pair with their wines. We were planning to eat somewhere else so decided on wine only. Debating on which one to get, they brought us samples of 3 different ones. After our first glass they came out and recommended others, also allowing us to try them before purchasing. They also brought some fresh prosciutto on the house to accompany the wines. The staff was so nice, prices so reasonable, and the place so cozy, we spent there more time that we had intended and loved it. This was a lovely experience and one I would repeat if I find myself in Paris again.

As we walked miles through Paris on our own walking tour we put together, we walked past many wine cafes with dozens of tourists. It didn't look personable or romantic or necessarily fun, so we kept going. Then, as we walked down a somewhat quieter street on the Northwest part of town, we came across a quiet place with a large bay window, Le Petit Jacob. we walked in and asked about a table, but then we spotted that there was one solo table out front. the gal there said she would bring out wines for a us to taste, "don't worry" she said, so we got a spot on the sidewalk. She came out with a couple of red wines. We tried both and ended up getting a glass of each. Very nice pours by the way. It kicked back in out chairs and couldn't believe our luck. It was a great spot, in the middle of a "T" of 2 streets, so we could see things going on in every direction. after a bit, the girl came out again and offered to get us another. We tried 3 more reds and chose 2 more glasses. We were tempted to try some of their bites, but we had more walking to do. The menu looked tempting though. After some time we headed out, after we had paid there extremely affordable check. I think water would have cost more. I'm not sure when we will be back, but Le Petit will be one of our stops again, 100%.
