The food at this places ranges from mediocre to excellent. The problem is that it's inconsistent. I normally have it delivered via Uber Eats or pick up. Of the 6 or 7 times I've ordered over 1 1/2 years, it's been wrong 75% of the time. I always order the same thing, but it's never the same - two ground beef soft tacos on flour tortillas. Supposed to come with beef, cheese, lettuce, pico and sour cream. I order them with no lettuce and pico on the side. They put lettuce on them and left off the sour cream. What's wrong with those people? This is a $3.50 Taco! I ordered guacamole as it's usually good. Not tonight! Had to add my own cilantro and lime juice. Chips tasted greasy. Needless to say. Went here for my pre-birthday celebration with friends. We started with margaritas that were really nicely made. Chips and salsa served complimentary at the table were good. The salsa was tasty but would have been nice if the chips were warm. They were courteous about refilling both the chips and salsa. A couple of people ordered the standard fajitas in either chicken or steak they all thought they were average but good. I will be coming back for another spinach quesadilla very soon the jalapeños inside gave it a nice kick. The side of sour cream topped it nicely. I would like to try the guacamole next time as well. Our first trip here we dined-in. The wait staff was very friendly and kind. Our food order came out very fast- we were surprised! Our second trip we ordered over the phone for take-out and the girl taking the order from me was not very focused and I had to repeat my order. Good place to grab a bite when your in the mood for Mexican. Food is usually good and service seems to be better at this location than PJ. Decor is a bit Soho styling with funky decor and paintings. Prices are a bit higher than Baja Grill nearby and some menu items warrant the higher prices but portions are a bit below average for what you pay. Quality has slipped a bit in recent years as well but overall a decent place to grab a bite locally. We decided to stray from our usual go to spot and try a new place so we tried Salsa Salsa. It was a huge disappointment and waste of money. We ordered take out and honestly I have never had to actually throw out food but we did. The steak in the fajitas was visibly old, chewy, and disgusting. The chicken in the rice bowl was also chewy, rubbery and tasted strange and old. I took 2 bites and was immediately turned off, the chipotle sauce Mayo stuff was gross and it was all over. We also had 2 orders of nachos grande one with the gross steak and one without. We didn't even try the steak one bc of the fajitas. The appearance looked like a college kid threw cheap shredded cheese on a bunch of chips and microwaved it. When you broke through the wall of hardened cheese, you had stale chips to top that experience off. The black beans were canned and bland, the lettuce in the pico was old wilted and bc of the clear unfresh look we didn't even try, the guacamole was like they bought cheap artificial grocery store containers and served it. That was not guacamole. After just those 2-3 tastings we threw out our $90.00 take out order. It was garbage and I don't even think the raccoons will eat from my garbage tonight. We had to waste the food, the money and go buy dinner somewhere else for additional cost. I never write reviews or complain but I've also never had an experience of food like this before. You are better off anywhere else in the area. I'll never ever recommend or return. They need serious help. read more

I returned about 10 minutes later and paid for my $81.00 bill then took a peek in my bags and noticed a lime nor salt was in the bag with the half pint of margaritas I ordered for my guests. I asked her for a lime and some salt, she walked away without a word as she rolled her eyes at me. I hear her telling a gentleman just beyond the tables "that lady over there wants salt & lime for her margaritas" in such an unprofessional and immature tone. As she handed me the little containers I said to her how rolling her eyes at me and being disrespectful is not a good trait for someone in the service industry. She leaned over the counter with nastiness saying a few things. All I could do was look at the gentleman worker from the back and tell him how the food is wonderful but I would not be returning to deal with an attitude such as that when I asked nicely for 2 items that should come with my order anyway. I have been coming here for years and they have always been great, but I feel like over the last few months with the new menu they have really refined their menu items and the quality is exceptional. I am not big on burritos but the Piggy Burrito is INSANE! Best burrito I have EVER had. I'm upgrading Salsa Salsa after their new ownership. The old staff were very friendly but I always felt their food was a little bland. The new folks customize the food better if you like it spicy. In the tacos or fajitas they will add grilled jalapenos: yummy. Once, I got grilled habaneros, what a tasty adventure! But they don't always carry them which is a bummer! Can't tease a foodie with some fiery habaneros and then expect him to settle for jalapenos the next time! That is like going from Marilyn Monroe to Peggy Bundy! Delicious quaint little Mexican takeout/sit down joint. The ambiance is nice, and on a Tuesday night it was busy but not packed. It reminded me of Baja Grill up the street but much better. This is easily the best Mexican food anywhere near Smithtown (there's a stand-up bar in Port Jeff), and was a welcome find. We moved out here from Roslyn, and swore that we'd never find any Mexican food that was as good as the Green Cactus Grill there. Like Green Cactus, everything is FRESH. No refried beans, no can openers, nothing frozen, and it tastes that way. I know there are different types of Mexican food, but this is the style I prefer. Their Burritos are absolutely transcendent, and cheap, to boot. Wifey raves on the Quesedillas, and the Tacos were equally good when we tried them. Can't go too far wrong here. read more

The first time we visited here, we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and the owner even helped us himself, made us a free drink, and explained the menu and what he recommended. The service was also amazing. We were so excited to find a great restaurant in the area and were very excited to return. Today we returned for dinner and unfortunately did not have a similar experience. I don't believe the owner was there tonight, which may have been why things were different. Our waiter was nice, but the service was just not great at all (complete polar opposite compared to our last visit where the service was impeccable). We both had pulled pork based entrees (tacos and a burrito) and it was so chewy and dry that most of it wasn't even edible. I had pulled pork the last time I was here and it was absolutely delicious, so I was definitely disappointed this go around since I had been looking forward to it. I have to mention that my drink (frozen margarita) was good and the corn appetizer was also good, but the pulled pork was inedible and the quality of service was very disappointing. Pulled pork burrito is amazing! You can get a 'not so fatso' version without as much stuff in it and multigrain rice. Their salsa is so good and has chipotle spices in it. Good spot for Baja Mexican and they have great salads and lettuce wraps. If you like healthier Mexican options go here. The food here is actually pretty good. I can't knock that. What i can knock is the atmosphere. I went on 11/11 and it was cold night. The place was cold inside as well which wasn't fun. I liked the music, i just wish it was on better speakers and filled the resturant better. I also thought tbe lighting was a bit too bright. However, the decorations were fun and hit on the culture very well. Its a small place as well. Because of this, you don't really get a sense of privacy or exclusivity if you're on a date. While we were eating, guests would pop in and pick up their orders and it would be distracting to my experience of the meal. These are small things and would probably be considered nit picky but they do add up. Also, the pictures you see on yelp portray the resturant in a different loght that can be misleading. The pictures of the food are spot on but there are very few of the actual resturant. Of the licures thay show the resturant, they are framed very well so kudos to the photographer but when you arrive on person, it is very underwhelming. This place is, more or less, your mom and pop resturant and a good place to stop in during lunch or a quick bite. I wouldn't reccomend for a date. Its more of a place for families and high school kids. Like i said earlier though, i can't knock the food. The food was really good. I got the super quesodillas with steak and they were great. The cheese was melted very nicely. The steak wasn't dry or over cooked. The tortila wasn't flimsy and the meal had virtually no dripping oils or anything which is nice. It tasted very clean. The best though, was the dessert. We got a fried ice cream and coconut dish with whip cream. That thing is killer good! Its worth a look everybody so go try it! read more

A very cute little mexican restaurant. They give you chips and salsa to munch on while you browse the menu. The food here is great and not at all expensive. My personal favorite is the vegetable taco salad. It is basically grilled vegetables and guacamole over lettuce, beans and tortilla chips. yum.
