Love love love the salsa, ensalada de pollo, veggie taco salad, even their salad with the grilled shrimp. My daughter loves the burrito with grilled veggies. Guacamole and sangria are yummy. They recently renovated the inside, which is still casual and very cool, but it's the same chef and staff thank goodness. So they "identify" as a tex-mex restaurant which I guess is because they serve some food with tortillas, rice and beans. But they go beyond the traditional tex-mex menus. My wife and I have been going there for about 10 years or so, our first visit with a Groupon (had been to PJ prior). We were so taken by the food which most of the menu is the same as the other locations but this being a sit down with wait service, they serve beer and sangria. The beer selection is not extensive, but they offer some very good beer which from what I understand is personally evaluated (consumed) by Chris and Juan. My wife and I were lured in to make repeated visits by the high quality of their food. attention to preparation and the comfortable and friendly service. We would return salivating about the choices we were planning on making only to be waylaid by the specials menu items that just by the description made you want to order, which we have on multiple occasions, and we were in awe of the flavors and the creativity of the meal. Salsa Salsa is a regular and frequent destination for us for lunch or dinner. Juan spots us in the parking lot and knows to put in an order of bang bang shrimp, he and Chris are ready to recommend one of the premium craft beers they carry (and the selection constantly changing), also the chips and pico are worth the visit. I have lost count of how many times we have eaten here and we will continue to enjoy dining here. This is going to sound so terrible but I don't even remember what I ate here. I tried looking at the menu to see if it would jog my memory but sadly it hasn't. Do you know how lackluster the food had to be for me to completely forget what I ate here? I had to go and look in my "check ins" for a photo. According to my caption I had "so so tacos". Salsa Salsa is in the same strip mall as Mavis so I came here to have a quick bite while I was waiting for my tires to be rotated. I was seated in the last booth on the left hand side in the back so I was directly across from the server station. Food was so so and so was the service. My server or owner? Was sitting at the booth directly across from me with a big stack of paper and a calculator. Like can you go and crunch numbers somewhere else? He was more interested in his paperwork then he was in me needing another glass of water or ice tea. I didn't want to BURDEN him so I ate my tacos and asked for my bill. We order work lunch from here constantly. Our order is delivered exact every time. The women we normally speak with on the phone is friendly and helpful. A few of us are picky and like things on the side and extra sour cream and they always pull through and never forget ! We all can get pretty hangry if things aren't correct. I ordered a grilled steak fat burrito with the extra cost sour cream? But at least it included guacamole with the upcharge. I thought grouping those 2 condiments was a strange upgrade pairing option. The burrito was extremely bland at best. Brown rice is the default, I don't know if you can get white. I wasn't impressed at all especially as this place has been around for a while. This place was low key when me & my friend went around 8pm. I had the fish shrimp and steak taco. The fish taco was cooked and season to the T. I wish I would've got two fish taco. The steak taco was pretty good also I enjoyed it. The shrimp taco was okay could have been better but it was still okay enough to eat. Upon arrival you get chips and salsa. The salads has a kick, beware... I love Spicy do that was okay for me. I asked for a side a quac and the quac was FRESH . Loved it will be returning. My friend got rice and beans side ... Came here with my best friend yesterday and I was sooooo disappointed. She ordered a steak burrito and a margarita; I got a beef taco for my daughter. The steak in her burrito had no taste or seasoning and the rice in it was hard. My daughter's taco tasted very similar to what they serve at Taco Bell. The margarita was good and my daughter's bottled mango lemonade was ok. If the food was this bad you think they would make up for it in the service. This was not the case. The man serving us was rude and in a rush. The kids working there didn't really know much about the food. Not a smile from anyone. Everything about this place was so off. Oh MAN ! I don't know where to began. I gotten a grilled shrimp salad and grilled steak burrito for my boyfriend. My grilled salad lettuce smelled spoiled. The shrimp in the salad was sooooooo chewy, I didn't know shrimp can be as chewy as it was. I had asked for the avocado and they had hide it under all the lettuce and the dressing wasnt present with the meal. The steak burrito was burnt at the bottom and stuck to the bottom of the to go pan. The burrito also only had a few pieces of steak and a load of rice. There was more rice than steak. I hate to give a bad review but maybe it was just an off day.
