I know it isn't authentic, and I don't care. I like this "fresh Mex" or "California Mex" style more than authentic Mexican food. The Grilled Shrimp burrito is on of my all time favorites. Loaded with shrimp, wonderfully marinated and cooked. I love their salsa..I can almost drink the stuff. It's the perfect combination of sweet, smoke, and heat. One complaint I've heard from others, and I can't argue with, is that some of the staff could use a bit of ....tidying up. Not asking them to wear tuxedos or anything, but just a minor up-tick. The decor is ridiculously colorful, but I find it refreshing. Used to love the one Port Jefferson but not being able to sit there ever used to keep me away. I hope this place is here to stay. I can say this, we'll be back. I had a ground beef taco and a soft chicken taco while my wife has the ensalada de pollo. Both were surprisingly fresh and tasty and very light on the wallet to boot! This place is damn good. The food is really fresh. I do wish they gave the same amount of tortilla chips you used to get. My family orders from this place all the time, and we used to get 2+ bags worth of tortilla chips. Now they only give 1. But that's okay, it's still a good deal. I really like their salsa. My favorite thing to order is a chicken burrito. My family and I mostly get the take out. I have eaten in person before, the place is really tiny... I have ordered take out numerous times from salsa salsa. I only order one menu item which is the BLT taco. Best FREAKEN taco around Hands down. I think I've ordered their quesadilla as well which was very good, but something hard to screw up so I don't really judge my review on that. Wifey has ordered many different items off the menu and was pleased everytime. Def worth a try. I drive about 15 minutes to pick it up since no one around me has anything close to the BLT taco. My boyfriend and I went here on a Groupon and are glad we did. The place was packed but we were seated in an ample amount of time. The staff was super friendly and knew the menu well. And the steak in my fajitas was so tough that I had to cut it into small pieces before i could eat it in a tortilla. not only was I upset by the food, the customer service was a severe disappointment. ordered the nachos grande with chicken, a cali burrito and a chicken taco. the chicken was unseasoned and felt like I was biting into rubber, The cheese on the nachos was shredded cheese and it did not taste good whatsoever. the carne asada was also dry and flavorless and looked old? if that makes sense. Definitely wasn't fresh. Ive never in my life said something to a waiter regarding my meal not tasting good but I had to. The manager im assuming came up to our table and said "whats wrong with the burrito" I nicely unlike him responded saying the food wasn't good and we were unsatisfied. he then invalidated us and said he tried the chicken from our plate and said it tasted fine. our meals were practically untouched and rudely said he'd take one thing off the bill like we were bothering him. I don't know what food he's used to but I was deeply unsatisfied and he showed a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. After reading some reviews with people also expressing the same feelings its noticeable by their responses that they need to learn a thing or two about customer service. If I could, I'd give them 3.5 stars, because they're a little bit better than A-OK and not quite warranted for four. This is a solid Mexican place. Burritos and Quesadillas are great. Wings are pretty damned good too, but they can be a little pricey. I'm a steady customer, so they do things right there. Just a little inconsistent at times. But not overly! (Figures the best places are right in your backyard the whole time.) I like that their guacamole is fresh and doesn't contain a filler like mayo (yes, some places do add this to bulk it up and cheap-out on using more avocado, gross.) and the salsa has a nice kick to it- not too mild, I'd say its a medium on the spicy-level. I ordered a grilled shrimp fat burrito served enchilada style. Compared to all of my other favorite places (Chipotle, Green Cactus, Bubba's, Cabo Fresh, etc.) This is hands down my favorite. Everything was so good and the portions were generous enough that I was able to bring home leftovers. I will definitely be back soon and I really recommend you try it. The only downside is that its kind of setback in the parking lot and I almost couldn't find it, but when you do find it- it will be totally worth it. I went there a few years ago with my family. We got the chicken fajitas, and they smelt terrible, turns out the chicken was bad. Couldn't go back for years....So a few months ago i went back. Got 3 steak tacos, 2 for me and one for my son. I bit into my taco and there was a 3 inch piece of metal in my taco. Thank god my son didn't get that metal in his taco. I will never go back. Mediocre. Ordered guacamole and I've had better elsewhere. Chips were nothing special either. Salsa was good at least. Had three tacos, one chicken, one steak, and one chorizo. They were all as if I made them myself at home although I'd make them tastier! All three were pretty bland, I had to add salsa to give it flavor. By their mistake they gave me a pork taco but the waitress quickly overheard the server and corrected him. They took my plate away and two seconds later told me to start on the other two tacos while waiting for the chicken one. Less than a minute later they brought my chicken taco on a plate. It was cold and started to get soggy. It sucked! I've had better chicken tacos at Taco Bell. So disappointed. Also had a 1/2 pitcher of mango/blueberry Sangria which was good. When paying the bill I showed the woman at the front counter my phone for the 10% off Yelp check in and she wasnt too happy with it telling me she didnt even know how Yelp has the discount available because she never asked for it or did anything to have the promotion in the first place. I just picked up an order I placed of a "super fat burrito with grilled chicken" meaning it was supposed to come with sour cream and guacamole. However, I came home with a tiny little chicken burrito with no sour cream or guac. When I called to let them know, they offered me a CREDIT for the extra money I spent on the sour cream and guac, but didn't offer to make me a new one! They even said, "but I'm sure you're not going to drive back for that." Even when I placed the order, the guy was so bothered and careless. He didn't even repeat my order back to me. Customer service was horrible and, quite honestly, so is this burrito. It's dry and tasteless, hence why I wanted the extra things I paid for. Wasted my money. I really like this place. I have been coming here since I was little, and I think a couple years ago they changed ownership and I think the food quality has gotten better. I like their chips and salsa. Not crazy about their nachos, you would be better off just sticking with the chips which they gladly refill for you. Their frozen margaritas are really really good, though pricy. If you are more than two people I would recommend getting the full pitcher instead of the half sized, which doesn't cut it. I love their whole wheat spinach burrito, and I always get it. The size is a bit small, and the only side that comes with it is some measly plaintain chips, but I love that burrito. You can also get the burrito smothered with cheese. The quesadillas are good, but my boyfriend only gets them when he's not terribly hungry, otherwise he goes with a burrito. The taco salad is also very very good, and a really big size, you will probably need leftovers! Comfortable atmosphere, nice staff (though at times they have messed up my order and can be a bit slow), takeout is always good. The place is small and gets crowded quickly.
