We stopped here for dinner on the way to jfk airport one night. They happened to have had a special that day by chance that we were able to take advantage of. Basically buy one pizza get one free. Great deal. The pizzas were tasty and the interior was cute. The owner was our server I believe, and she was very kind. Would recommend this place to everyone!

Empty at 7pm on a Friday night. Super small pour of montepulciano for $13. Margherita pizza was good. A bit soft in the center but crust is tasty. Meatballs were pretty small too. But tasted good in a bowl of sauce with two pieces of bread. One toasted, one not. All in all it's good but average. Too many great spots making pizza these days in Queens. Not likely to return.

We have been here twice now. Once on a Monday for the 10 dollar margherita pie and on a Tuesday for buy a pizza get one for 5. Its an amazing deal for such good pizza. And of you like to drink like we do they also have happy hour deals till 6. Service was great and I will definitely come back.

Cuisine: 9 Service: 8 Decor: 7 Value: 9 Overall: 9 Middle Village does not have many great restaurants. I'm glad to announce that there is another one now. This is Salsa's second location, with the first being in busy Green Point. Not sure how they found their way to such a quiet neighborhood. Not complaining. For a pizza lover like myself, I'm happier than a clam. It's just a ten minute walk from my house. During its grand opening week from March 31st to April 6th, they are offering Buy One Get One on Margherita and Pepperoni pizzas. We got both tonight and they were amazing! As I took each bite, my head kept repeating, "Finally! Thank you!" Why? Because I have a legitimate Neapolitan pizza shop in my neighborhood. That wonderfully chewy crust, with a refreshing tomato sauce, and ooey gooey cheese blends beautifully together. Fyi, these are large 12 inch pies, so quite substantial for the price. We also had the Meatballs, which was a bit firmer than my preference, but the tomato sauce was zesty and delicious. The Orecchiette Pesto was enjoyable too, with perfectly al dente pasta tossed in a creamy sauce, walnuts pieces and a whole burrata. Once again, the portion size was generous and the price is very reasonable. I met the owner Mike, who said that his favorite pie is the Sud Italia, so I will try that another time. In the meantime, you might find me back here before the BOGO is over on Sunday. I really hope that the locals show this newcomer some love and keep this nice addition to the area around for a long time.

We drove here for these pies coz I heard about this Neapolitan style pizza place opening, and I personally prefer Neapolitan to New York style pizza (no hate). We got Margherita pizza and we were not disappointed - first of all, the dough is right. That's the most important thing for me, though some other places have a more flavorful dough that smells wonderful, this one got the texture right. The flavor's also good - the sauce isn't too sweet, which is another plus for me. We got takeout, so perhaps because of that the middle part of the pizza was soggy after being in the box. I suggest they strain the cheese (if they haven't already), and also let the pizza sit on a wire rack for 5 minutes before putting it in the box. All in all it's a good pie - and we'll be back for more!

Amazing. I have never been the biggest neapolitan pizza fan. I don't disagree with a big name pizza reviewer who thinks they are mostly all the same. That wasn't the case here, there was something special about this pizza. The pizza was light and airy but the dough had a lot of texture and taste to it. The ingredients were fresh. The pizza's aren't giant but they definitely aren't small. We tried both the margarita and the pepperoni. We can't wait to come back and try others. In addition to pizza we tried the meatball app. Two meatballs again not giant but wow these were amazing. These might have been the best meatballs I've had in a restaurant. Simple but the texture was perfect. Tip if you get the meatballs. Keep the sauce to dip your pizza crust into. You pay when you order It was a little weird paying before eating at a sit down place but I liked just leaving when we were done.

Great pizza in Forest Hills/Rego Park area! A major rarity, so this is a very pleasant surprise. Buy one / get one free on Margherita & Pepperoni pies for grand opening week, so go now for 2 amazing pies for $16.

Amazing! The owner is from Italy and it really shines through with the food. We came for a casual lunch but would definitely come back for a quick dinner. Pizza was great, meatballs some of the best I've ever had. Prices are fair as well. Can't wait to come back and try more!!

I didn't see prices for slices (but maybe native NY'ers know you can order by the slice I saw a lot of people with slices only) so we ordered a whole "pie". They were very nice about letting us order something off menu (pepperoni and mushroom) and half sautéed veggies. You order at the counter and then wait for the pizza to be brought to you. It's a chill place with a couple of tables. The pizza was piping hot and I didn't even know I burned the roof of my mouth until after I was satiated from the pizza! The cheese pull on the pepperoni mushroom was great. The cheese was obviously fresh cuz of the pull without having to load on tons of cheese . It was very well balanced. The red sauce was sweet (is this a NY thing?) but I didn't mind it. If you want a pizza with great cheese pull. Go here! But you have to eat it while it's HOT. The sautéed veggies pizza was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly cuz I am not a veggie fan in general but it was good enough for me to enjoy eating the entire slice! Great pizza! Next time I want to try the grandma slice to see what the difference is from a regular slice.

For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari and the baked clams. I absolutely love their baked clams -- I don't eat them from anywhere else. What I appreciate most is that their clams don't have that strong "ocean" taste; they're seasoned perfectly. Their sangria is also the BEST. I had the white sangria, which was delicious, and my husband and dad ordered the red, which they really enjoyed. For the main entrées, I had the shrimp scampi, my husband had the penne alla vodka, and my dad ordered spaghetti with garlic and oil with a side of broccoli. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The vodka sauce was creamy and tasted homemade. My daughter ordered a personal pan pepperoni pizza and loved it. The service was excellent--our server was really polite, knowledgeable about the menu, and checked on us often. I also love the atmosphere: when you walk in, it feels like a classic pizzeria, but once you head to the back, it transforms into a cozy fine-dining space. The lighting is perfect, and the music is just the right volume. The last time I visited was over four years ago, and I'm happy to say the food and drinks still taste just as good as I remembered. Overall, it was an amazing experience for my dad's birthday, and we'll definitely be back again.

I went into the bathroom quick to pee and when I came out my table was cleared and no can of Sprite that I only took 2 or 3 sips of. I totally understand that someone would think the person left and table needed to be cleaned, however, I explained I just went to the bathroom. I want my sprite. They asked one of the workers, he explained that he thew it away. No problem- I said ok I'm going to grab another can. He asked the guy , was it empty? While that may rank as a relatively mid-tier title by NYC standards, as the neighborhood restaurant average is sadly and shockingly low, especially considering its location in the literally center Queens, this is nonetheless a very special neighborhood treasure, befitting it's stalwart status at now over 30 years of age. Classic Italian American with some New American flourishes, the place stays consistent and honors its tradition while simultaneously managing to keep things fresh and staying up with the times. The pizzas are well-executed and make great use of the gorgeous wood burning oven, but for me it's almost impossible to order anything else but my go-to order, one of the house specialties the classic Cavatelli with broccoli raab and some particularly pungent hot Italian sausage. A modern day classic in the cannon, finding decent versions around the city is tougher than one might imagine, particularly in my experiences in this borough. The version here, served like the rest of the offerings in an extremely generous portion that usually yields some delicious leftovers to take home, is a strong contender for the best in the borough title. Also of particular note is the exemplary super-thin and savory chicken parm, served in the previous era in various forms including with spaghetti and broccoli, as well as with risotto, currently served smothered with a spicy vodka sauce and paired with rigatoni. I've only recently became aquatinted with the rich and unctuous dry-aged burger, served simply and unadorned save for American and sharp raw union, on a classic and proper sesame seed bun, it's a stealth under-the radar competitor for the best burger in the hood nod with previous title-holder Dirty-Pierres. The expansive, two-room space, an ideal setting for the many private events and family gatherings that regularly occur here is aptly bright and inviting with the aforementioned pizza oven serving as its centerpiece. I generally sit at the bar which offers ample opportunity to converse with the top-notch staff, just as genial and affable as you would hope to find in such a longtime neighborhood institution, as well as the fellow patrons, who are, more often then not, you guessed it, longtime local resident regulars.

This was one of the best new pizzerias in NYC, opening to great accolades from various publications. Being a poor kid in Junior High School working for a mere $3.75/hr across the street at the corner Baskin Robins (RIP) did not give me the opportunity for quite some time. Anyway, fast forward 5 years and I finally had the chance with a few friends to experience what many called the best pizza in Queens, and I was very impressed. This became my regular "fancy" pizza shop of choice. What I loved most about it was the crispy and charred thin crust. It adds so much to the overall taste and enjoyment. The sauce was deliciously tangy and the fresh mozzarella made it a level above everything else in the neighborhood. One word of warning, the pizza could get a little soggy in the center if too many toppings are ordered. I usually choose none or no more than two. Also noteworthy is their yummy calzones. My personal favorite combination is sausage and spinach. Mixed with all that oozing ricotta and dipped in some tomato sauce, that is one great bite. Lastly, I like most of their salads too. Their food has been a staple in my diet for most of my adult life. Decades go by, and out of nowhere, I hear the news that Nick's had burned down. What a loss for our community! What a loss personally! Thankfully, they are back and feeling every bit like the original. Food is as good as before, while the decor and service has always been on point.
