Idk why y'all got so many good reviews/stars. It must be some sort of town pride cause little Caesar's got the same pizza with better service. But alright. 2 stars cause my high ass ate it with my high ass boyfriend. Edit: I was upset yesterday so I will clarify the post. We entered and were greeted, Kinda. Ok, we're used to shitty service cause we work/ed in customer service. I mention that this is our first time we here, we might need a min. She does, nonchalantly and continues gnawing on her food. I then later noticed a special sign that cost $6 more but you get more food and a better deal. I'm now upset wondering why we weren't offered this, since I mentioned it's our first time here. Ok, fine. We get our drinks, go outside and wait. We wait and the same hostess brings our food outside, while simultaneously gnawing on some more food. Ew. Why? I should've asked for a refund right then and there. But damn. I didn't wanna start shit. Y'all have some pretty good reviews, we wanted to experience what the others did. But instead, you guys started rolling down the blinds and being obnoxiously loud indoors(????) and at that moment my boyfriend spills his drink. It covers his phone, instead of coming out with a rag. I hear 'ohhhh spill' etc. okay. I get it, it's annoying but it's literally your job? Lol. You work in a local pizza shop? So that's when we decided to leave the items there, because I felt disrespected. As we are walking away, I hear, 'OF COURSE THE FAT ASSES LEAVE THEIR SHIT OUTSIDE' we weren't even that far away from the door. Lol. Guys, seriously? Absolutely our go-to spot. I grew up in a small blue collar upstate NY town that was half Italian and half Irish with a pizzeria on nearly every corner. All with a little differentiation, the crust, the sauce, the cheese blend and all REALLY good. I struggled to find a pizza spot in Cali that suites my pickiness. After 12 years our final move to Cotati and Sal's is it! My family (when visiting) has confirmed they can definitely claim New York style! LOVE the pesto twists, a good old cheese pizza and when they get the ingredients right in the chef salad, it's perfect! (To go, always check.. its spot-on about 60% of the time). I had a Groupon for Sal's so next time I was in the area I dropped in. It was a clean and cute roadside storefront with eight inside and two outside tables. Service was fast and friendly but it was the pizza that was the real star. We ordered 2 fourteens, one with mushroom/ half pepperoni and half anchovy and the other with spinach and ricotta. Crust was crisp with just the right amount of chew, sauce was homemade and not too sweet and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. Overall not fancy or experimental, just high quality fresh ingredients perfectly prepared. This could be our new local hangout. read more

Wanted to try this spot for awhile due to them having cannolis. Saw online they close at 8:30 so I ordered at 7:30. When ordering over the phone the dude was hella rude. We got a simple order of two pizza dogs and two cannolis so it's not like it was a complicated order.. Probably won't be going back due to service. Food was good but i will definitely be looking for a new cannoli spot. read more

Yummy pizza, but it was unusually greasy. I soaked up multiple paper towel's worth off my pizza. They offer more than just pizza, such as Calzones, Salads and Breadsticks. They have pizza's by the slice as well as personal sized pizzas. Small but nice dining area, with some chairs set up outside. read more

Our favorite pepperoni pizza in the area! I'm not much of a pizza person, particularly pepperoni, but for Sal's I'm always down for it! I love how they season the pizza and their RANCH IS AMAZING! I don't know what they have in it but it's addicting. You can pay I think 10$ and get a mason jar of ranch instead of just a small cup, so we do that every time (my partner and I like to use the leftovers for salad, if there is any). I haven't tried their other pizzas but I'm sure they're just as delicious. read more

I decided to order the Small chicken and garlic pizza. The Small size was enough to feed 2 people. My limit for pizza is two slices only- so I was very excited to see huge slices lol. (Ended up eating 3 slices anyway because it was soo good) I arrived on a Sunday around 6:30 pm. There was no customers inside at the time, and I could see why. The inside of the place felt like an oven. It eventually cooled down after an hour. But I wish I had arrived later on for a more enjoyable experience. The slices were thin, so if you're a crust lover- this isn't going to satisfy you. Another thing, if you love ranch with your pizza, they charge $1.50 for it Most places charge $0.50 if they even charge you At All. So there's something to factor in. Another thing is jalapeños. I'm a jalapeño lover. Need to have it on my pizzas. But for an extra couple bucks? No thanks! Little tip- They have red pepper on the tables that is a good alternative. Overall- if I could change my experience I think I would have. Maybe sit outside instead of inside. Bring my own ranch lol. But this is a great spot for a little date night. $28 fed me and my boyfriend a Delicious pizza, one coke, and one cannoli. This place is a lot better than Mountain Mikes. Almost no grease from my pizza. Crispy. Gooey cheese. I'd definitely recommend to try this place out at least once. We will Definitely be back. read more

Accidentally wandered into Sal's halfway through a family road trip. Kids were tired, hungry, and had to pee - which is to say I was not expecting much from this lunch stop. HOLY SMOKES THAT WAS SOME GOOD PIZZA. The crust is super thin style which is seriously hard to get right - and it was perfectly crispy with a great flavor. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever had prefect super thin crust until today. Topped with a really tasty marinara in perfect proposition to cheese and crust, this really is one of the best slices I've ever had. Side Note: I got the spinach salad, because, you know, healthy. It was super fresh and the dressing was really yummy. So glad my kids have small bladders! read more

Pretty solid pizza in a an area with a dearth of even mediocre pizza places. If you order and pick up, know that they often WAY over state the wait-time, so if you want the pizza as fresh as possible, call it in and head down immediately. If they say 30 minutes, your pizza may be sitting on top of the pizza oven for 15 minutes. They used to have a monthly "special" pizza which was always some kind of unusual and interesting combo, but they haven't done that in a year, so I guess it's gone for good. Wow! We usually stick around Petaluma for our pizza, but tonight decided to go to Cotati & try something new, so glad we did. Went in for an easy dinner tonight (too tired from early Holiday shopping to cook!). The nice woman host/server was fantastic. We had a mix up with our order and she was INCREDIBLY cool about it, seriously THIS is what GOOD BUSINESS is. She corrected the situation with total professionalism AND a smile, talk about great service. Total 5 stars. Our Pizza was delicious too, and the salad (basic salad with creamy italian) was great, homemade croutons too. Nice beer selection, generous pour on the wine as well. I'd come back here in a heartbeat. I'll say it again --- great service is a HUGE thing these days, I won't say its "rare" because lets face it, we have awesome restaurants here in Sonoma County! Sometimes it comes down to the smallest thing---how they react, how they make you feel--if they smile and if it seems GENUINE. The restaurant is small, but the service is great, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by waitress. We had the cheese pesto twist, so delicious. I would come back here just for these. It is, with out a doubt, the best pizza in CA, both Nor and So (admittedly, California has notoriously horrible pizza, so this isn't a huge crown). Also, its run by pretty good dudes. We split the large spinach salad with their awesome poppy seed dressing. Had a 12" Combo. As an afterthought anchovies would have been nice (maybe not for you though). This pizza is really good! I ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza and had it delivered. It took a while to get here but it was well worth it and they found the little place I'm staying at in the country in Penngrove so that's a bonus. The sauce was perfect, the cheese was perfectly proportioned to the fresh mushrooms and hearty pepperoni. It was actually so good I went back and had their slices on demand. I have to say that that experience wasn't as good. The method that they used was not on par with New York Style. They use pre-made cheese and add toppings after the fact then reheat. Anyway, it wasn't that bad and the delivery experience was great so I give it a 4 stars and would definitely order delivery or a fresh made pizza there again! read more

I used to work at Round Table Pizza a couple years ago and ate so much pizza that I normally can't even stand the smell anymore. I drove up to Petaluma from the Bay Area to visit my boyfriend and he chose Sals for lunch. At first I wasn't super excited about the idea of pizza but after only a couple minutes of being there I felt so welcomed. Extremely nice staff and amazing food. Best place in Rohnert Park or Cotati for pizza. Delivery is also a nice bonus. Hopefully they stick around, I know I'm a regular.
