Ran into this place while exploring London and during a bit of rain. Looks like local spot for those working in area and I have to say the food was excellent. We ordered a pizza and calzone and it was so good - wood fires and the crust was heavenly. We arrived at 12:30 for lunch without reservations. They indicated they had a table and it would not be a problem. We were seated immediately. When they asked what we wanted, we asked for 2 pizzas which would be shared, and asked for a drink menu. It was given to us later, but they never offered to take a drink order. The gentleman looked very upset and said, "At least the table will be clear in about an hour!" In very little time, the pizzas appeared. We never had our drink orders taken, and when all but one were finished, the waiter showed up with the ticket. The food was good but the service was very poor. When I received my receipt by email, I realized they charged 20% for a service fee. One pizza was 17pounds and one was 20pounds. And all we had to drink was water. Over$100 for 2 average pizzas and very poor service. Please find some other place to eat.., or go hungry rather than choosing this place. read more

Was out late looking for a spot to grab some dinner and was taken over by the bouncer at a nearby bar where the kitchen had closed. The main guy Elvis let us in even though the kitchen had just closed. We had a delicious dinner with 3 starters, 3 mains and dessert. The truffle pasta was amazing and he was heavy handed on the black truffle which was great. The fresh burrata and tomatoes was devine and what can I say except that it was the best pana cotta I've ever had so delicate and the perfect firmness to softness ratio. The chef came out on his way home and stopped by our table and talked to us. They were all super nice and we had an incredible dinner. It felt like a private dining experience with amazing food. We even took a pizza to go for a friend back at our airbnb. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would come back whenever in London. read more

Execrable service. Rude and obnoxious. Good food didn't make up for terrible attitude. At the end of the evening we asked that the very bold £19 "optional service charge" be removed and they refused. My 82 year old mother was just irate and had words with the management and he finally removed it. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by a rude host who sat us. We didn't think much about it, but in retrospect, it set the theme for the meal. It was difficult to communicate with the waitress, the tuna in the tuna tartare was not fresh and tasted fishy, the baby chicken tasted "off", the salmon was cold in the middle and we had to go to the bar to order drinks because the waitress could not communicate what drinks were available. Swarmy waiter/ manager/ owner totally annoyed us. He was offended that we didn't want bottled water and preferred the "poison" water per him. This restaurant is off the beaten path. Margarita and Diablo pizza to go and it was very good. Service was attenative, and I was inspired to come back for dinner another evening. Dinner was very nice we started with the tri color salad and tuna tartare for entrees we had the spinach raviolis and the scallops. Everybody was very good and done well. The scallops were the on the small size but still very tasty. The service was attenative but not overwhelming and the deco is very pleasing to the eye. I understand how dramatic this sounds, but this was genuinely the most disappointing meal i've ever had. The pizza was sopping with grease and rates below any frozen microwave pizza i've had. The "bruschetta" was simply chopped up tomatoes, no seasoning whatsoever, on top of toasted bread with again 0 seasoning whatsoever. I don't have to words to accurately explain the lack of flavor in everything we ordered. On top of the meal, the overall ambiance in the restaurant was off-putting- empty on a Friday night and playing strange music. The staff was nice but also gave us an off-putting feeling. I have eaten dinner here three times in two weeks I have been in London on business and I'm sure I am not done yet. I have tried pasta, tuna tartar, rack of lamb and even pizza - all fantastic. The wines by the glass are quite respectable and for those not eating solo, the wine list is very good. The lamb tonight is perfectly cooked as are the French beans. While on a business trip last week, I stayed at a business hotel right across the alley of Salotto 31 on Lovat Lane. I wasn't sure what pizza to get and the dark haired skinny waitress recommended the burrata and prosciutto pizza. She was correct, it was really good. The pizza came out fast. I was fascinated by their credit card machine. They don't need to take your credit card away to make the purchase. It had a little printer inside of it and printed my receipt. 10 out of 10 I would come back the next time I'm in London. read more

Came in on a quiet night (weekend) and got to know the owner, Elvis. Food was superb, wine options were out of this world.

This was a great little find that was off the beaten track near fenchurch street. We were able to make reservations on opentable the same day. The place feels like you're stepping into a home and it's very clear that the entire team is from Italy, Venice to be specific. Everyone is very kind and welcoming. We started with a bottle of montepulciano and ordered the wild boar tagliatelle and the veal and side of vegetables. The tagliatelle was amazing with homemade pasta and slow cooked ragu. My husband had the veal and loved it. We ended with a homemade tiramisu and they offered us a complimentary grappa and limoncello. Lovely ending to the dinner I must say. read more

My meal was average at best. The salmon had a weird tomato/onion sauce that reminded me of a Big Mac and the sautéed spinach tasted frozen. The roasted potatoes were good and the Italian bread was quite tasty which leads me to believe the pizza is probably good. Likely won't return. read more

"Hidden Gem! Fabulous service, food, and wine - thanks for making us feel so special each time we were there :)" We were staying right across from this fabulous restaurant and ended up having dinner there 3 times. It was so good - and after long days of sightseeing -- we kept thinking - why are we even looking to eat somewhere else! The service was fantastic. The food was SO good. My husband had the lasagna all three nights. I had the spaghetti with crab two times and a delicious chicken dish with side grilled veggies another night. My glasses of red wine were a good pour and fabulous as well. We originally thought the restaurant was just pizza and wine place - and in fact, that's what we went in for the first night. What a pleasant surprise to find out how much more they had to offer! Everything was fabulous - but, what was even better was how wonderful they made us feel each time we were in there. This is one of the best "hidden gems" that we have found in London. The experience starts with the owner who is from Venice, but speaks pretty good English. Follow his recommendations. The burratta was just delivered from Italy and was the best I've had. He also recommended the tuna tartare, which was also wonderful. The pasta is all homemade and superb. I only tasted pizza and it was a bit dry to be honest. Also they don't really overdo with cheese/ whatever you choose on top. They should get better as the dough itself is not bad at all. However I also saw some very good looking dishes being served to other guests. Hence the 3 stars. And also prices are not excessive for the area. Conveniently located. Don't get the pasta carbonara. The sauce was bright yellow and runny and the pancetta was awful.

Decent enough food, pretty awful service. Plastic in the crabmeat, was told the change was free of charge only to be charged. Charged wrong amount for the final bill. Shame. read more

Came across Salotto 31 last week while visiting London. The owner welcomed my brother and I into his restaurant on a Sunday evening and treated us like guests in his home. We had intended to stay for just a glass of wine but he was so gracious that we stayed for several hours. His personality, the decor of the restaurant, and the quality of the wine could not have been better. Although we did not have an opportunity to taste the menu as the kitchen was closed, this will be the first restaurant we dine at when we return to London. read more
