LOVE IT! I have…read morefinally found the hair salon I've been looking for! I'm a huge fan and will be a client for as long as Jay will have me! To all of you out there with curly hair who are so sick of stylists not having a clue what to do for you, stop searching and call this place. I got highlights and a cut this past weekend and love how everything turned out. The color is amazing and is exactly what I wanted. Jay knew right from the beginning the type of look I was trying to describe and got it just right. It was like a "Say No More, I've Got This" vibe from him that put me at ease, like he'd been doing my hair for years! And as for the cut, he has a certain way of cutting these unique layers for curly hair that make it look wonderful! It has been incredibly easy to style. Beyond the hair, all the small things that also make a huge difference were just as appealing! Heath handles everything at the front, and he was amazingly helpful in setting up the appointment, making sure things were fine the day of, and scheduling my next appointment. When you arrive, they'll offer coffee, wine, whatever, and of course, great music is playing the whole time. The salon itself is also super cute and they have fabulous artwork throughout, making it totally adorable. Just a note that due to no fault of their own on the particular day I was there, the hot water supply for the building was well, not hot at all! Jay, Heath, and Irene (the other stylist there) all took the time to actually heat cold water up just for my rinse and shampoo so I wouldn't have to deal with cold water. Talk about going above and beyond! They didn't have to, but they did. They're all fabulous, and I can't say enough wonderful things. I wish them so much success there! I've already told friends and co-workers this is the next salon for them, no question, and I can't wait for my next appointment!

I've been a Deva Curl lady for longer than some of the products have existed, and I spent years going to Deva Stylists while living in NYC. Will is truly at the top of the pack. He sat with me and discussed my goals (that I wasn't able to clearly define myself), and we didn't just talk about it for a few minutes, look at a picture and then jump right into the chair. Oh no. Will is so thorough and an artist. I've found my Hair Home at The Curl Lounge and oh it feels so good to look this fly in this head of curls! Thank you Will!

Calling all curly girls!!!…read more I've been coming to Will for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. I have naturally curly hair and hands down he is THE BEST. He takes his work seriously and takes his time with you - this is not a run of the mill salon! A couple things you need to know: 1) The appointments range from 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hrs depending on how long/thick your hair is. This time includes consultation, wash, cut, dry/style. Each consultation is unique as every curly girl is unique. He uses on deva curl products - which you really should be using if you're a curly girl, but he doesn't force it on you...he's never pushy with his products. I always buy something though because his prices are the best in town and he always has the latest/greatest additions. 2) He cuts your hair dry - one curl at a time, hence the time alotment above. This is the Deva Curl way - he was trained by the best, Lorraine Massey herself! 3) You will only need to get your hair cut every 4-6 months. I was one of those people that ued to go every 8-10 weeks whether I needed it or not. With Will, he shapes it so nicely that the shape grows with your hair so you won't have those unruly hair days for at least 4-5 months. 4) He's expensive - it'll run you $130 and up for a hair cut, BUT you're only going 2-3 times a year and it's worth EVERY penny. 5) It's a little tricky to find. It's on St. Mary's behind Bliss Salon. It's a backdoor entrance. I simply cannot recommend The Curl Lounge enough!! Will is amazing. If you're a curly girl, stop looking and come here!

I cannot begin to explain how difficult it is to find a good hair stylist in Raleigh. One reason…read morefor that is because most hair salons focus on coloring and Raleigh haircuts, without generalizing, are boring. It involves stick straight haircuts for girls that tend to blow their hair out with straightening irons. For an asian, who obviously does not need that and instead, needs a lot of volume, layering, and texture, I have gotten so many haircuts at some of Raleigh's "best" salons, including Samuel Cole Salon and Atomic, and have been either sorely disappointed or massacred by stylists that either don't listen or have no clue as to what they are doing. Stephanie at Marigold Parlour listened to my styling needs and gave me what I wanted, while also advising and adding on her own interpretation. The result is a great haircut that I know will grow out nicely. For 50 bucks, half the price of any standard New York salon, this place is a piece of gold in a pile of rocks. I definitely recommend it.

We both knew my hair wasn't going to get to be as light as the picture, but that was fine. After it was all said and done, I (regrettably) told her I liked it and walked out. I had already been there for so long, and I thought I could go home and style it myself and it would be fine. Not the case. She pretty much bleached my whole head except for about 2 inches of my roots. I paid money to look like I dyed my hair blonde 6 months ago and now it's growing out. It's pretty patchy too. After a couple days I had finally cried enough over my hair that I decided to contact the stylist and see if there was anything she could do about the horrible red tones. She offered to tone it, which I passed on. I'll pay someone else to fix this mess. I should've asked if she had done anything like this before and if she had pictures. Hindsights 20/20

DO NOT come here if you are a guy who spends money on your hair. Seriously. These people royally…read morescrewed up my hair and had zero self-awareness or common sense to just look at it and see that. I have a simple haircut that works for the shape of my head and deals with my cowlicks for years. I explained this in the consult and showed photo references several times to the hairstylist, and I should have recognised this pattern early because I told her I had just washed my hair like 2 hours prior so I don't need to do that again, and after the cape goes on she has me go over there and does it anyway. Zero listening or comprehension skills. Another creative way to describe the disaster is, it looks like I came in with vastly unrealistic expectations based on photo references that don't match the shape of my head - except all the photo references ARE OF MY OWN PAST HAIRCUTS DONE ON MY OWN HEAD. I opened with an ask for a trim and came out of this place looking like a drug addict from a trailer park. I'm too self-conscious and judgemental to tell in the salon (and what am I gonna do anyway, have them glue my messed up hair back on?) not to mention conflict-averse because at this point I've acquired serious anxiety with hairdressers from how many times I've had someone mess it up. To be specific, I had basic layering/tapering maintained here and my length was just getting a bit too heavy. I also have a previous haircut disaster that I'm trying to fix from when my last hairstylist insisted on cutting this godawful V-shaped taper in the back of my neck that destroyed my natural hairline - I made the hairstylist aware of this. She didn't do anything to it at all and it still is sticking out looking lazy and unkempt just as it did when I walked in. Is a hairdresser not able to comprehend the nuance of "hey the last person messed this up, but I don't want it to be sticking out either so just try to handle it to get it back to where it should be?" Whatever layering I had has been obliterated. I lost no hair on the back of my head and a ton off the top of my head, utterly destroying the sense of balance my hair created for my large cranium. The huge chunk of hair she hacked out of the front left side of my head makes it look like my hair is falling out! It looks God awful, I am horrified and ashamed to go outside because of what these people did to my hair. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE BUSINESSES THAT DO NOT RUN ON COMPETENCE OR COMMON SENSE. Avoid it like the Black Plague. I can throw $50 down the drain but I can't get my hair back to where it was. If I can't find a better place then I'm literally going to have to fly around the world to pay $20 to the random guy in Indonesia who did a good job six months ago. EDIT: The response to this review is more proof than the haircut that everything I said about this place is accurate and then some. FWIW, they did leave a voicemail and tried to ask if I could come back in so they could "fix it", which is not how haircuts work. No mention of refunds for the damage, no coupon, and no apology, so to think that was done in good faith is not reasonable. As for the personal attacks towards me running for federal office, yes, I ran precisely because there are too many people with money & power who are vicious, lying cowards and understood that Congress would be an excellent place to put that kind of thing out to pasture. It's a shame I didn't win because we could clearly still use this attitude of mine in light of circumstances like this! Thanks for nothing though!
