This is the best kept 'secret' in Augusta, if you want a quality cut at very reasonable prices…read more Don't let the affordability trick you into thinking you're going to get a cut similar to the ones you get at 'superclips' or one of those places where you walk in and take your chances as to who is going to cut your hair that day. I've had some good and terribly bad experiences in those joints where the chances are high that the person cutting your hair is a new graduate from the local technical school (who is using your head to gain some experience). At Schon, you get only highly experienced hands and shears at a price similar to 'superclips'. The gifted hands that cuts my hair at Schon is Tsukasa - a Japanese trained hair stylist who is always pleasant and professional in everything she does. I spent some time in Japan and know for a fact that Japanese hair stylists don't get their papers from studying at a local technical school for a number of weeks. Japanese stylists must go through a lengthy internship where they learn every facet of the trade. Its not uncommon for a newly qualified stylist joining a shop and spending their first year cleaning up the premises, laundering the towels and linens, wiping down the chairs and assisting the more experienced and established stylists. Only after they perform those duties faithfully and perfectly, do they get to touch any patron's hair. Tsukasa has come out of that tradition and it shows consistently. All of the stylists including the owner are excellent. You will get a first rate cut at Schon hair Salon in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. If you're wondering about trying them, I strongly urge you to give them a try. If you do, then I predict that you'll become a repeat customer. I love this place.

I had my hair done about 3 times at this Salon. The first visit was great and then by the third…read morevisit I ended up with hives around my hairline and on both ears. The swelling and itching was pretty bad. I never had anything like that before and then after that happened the bleach used for the highlights completely fried my hair and it would shed and my hair was dry and frizzy. All of my natural curls were gone. It took about a year before my hair returned to normal and got my curls back. I will never go back to a salon again. It's too expensive to have your hair done and it looked bad from the damage.

IF I COULD GIVE 0 stars I WOULD!!!!!! I was scheduled with Taylor for a haircut at 9:00 am... first…read moreappointment of the day. When I got taken to the station I slipped on al the hair that was on the floor from who knows how many days. Taylor asked me if I wanted my hair washed, which seemed like a weird question since that should be regular procedure at a salon. I told her she didn't HAVE to since I had washed it the night before. I at least expected to have my hair sprayed with water because my hair has an slight uneven wave to it (I am a licensed cosmetologists of 12 years, I would know this). She starts to part my hair without any plan to it really, no comb lines, nothing.... Then she starts to cut... my DRY hair. I asked her if she was going to spray it because my hair did have a wave to it (and it would result in an uneven cut) and she just said "no I'm pulling it straight. After she cut the first section she then proceeds to take a 1" section (too thick to be able to see length cut) and that's when I stopped her and said asked if there was anyone else that could cut my hair, I proceeded to tell her that too thick of a section with DRY hair would make it impossible to get an even cut, and she said "i cut hair every day", (well, i cook every day, that doesn't make me a chef now does it??!) she said she was going to find me someone else because she was not going to finish my cut because she was not going to be spoken to like that. To which I replied, "Like what? I have not disrespected you nor said anything mean, I'm trying to tell you that the section you took (and I motioned with my fingers to say an inch) is too much. She cut me off by saying that she took very little off the length, which is NOT what I was talking about. When cutting DRY hair, on a person with straight ish hair with volume and some wave, it needs to be done in thin sections because otherwise the cut will be UNEVEN!... she stormed off saying she wouldn't be talked to like that. I guess constructive criticism to a young girl who most likely just graduated Beauty School is too much to handle. Never stepping foot in this salon again! Update: the owner did reach out to me and listened to me, she offered to fix things unfortunately because I have several other appointments today and errands to run, It was not going to work, but she did offer a 20% OFF my next hair appointment.
