I've been many times. Came here for highlights, balayage and even got my wedding hair done here. Always disappointing. I've given them several opportunities to show their skill and it has failed. I've gotten treated horribly, I was left waiting for hours for service on my wedding day. I've gotten my hair colored here twice in the last year and it's been so awfully done. Is it because I wear hijab and they know I won't post a review of the awful job? When someone pays over $500 for their hair, you should care. Done giving chances. I went into the salon, wanting long layers and face framing. Shouldn't really be a difficult task for any stylist. When I walked into the salon, it was empty, which is a red flag for any salon on a weekend. After reading some of these other reviews, I can tell I am not the only one who has issued with the same "stylist." I didn't get a comfortable feeling the entire time I was there, but I was trying to remain optimistic. This is by far the worst haircut of my adult life. I don't typically leave reviews, but I hope my botched haircut saves someone else from dealing with this. Hair is a very personal thing, and for this woman to call herself a "stylist" and do this is, to say the least, unkind. Abeer did my blow dry with bottom curls, they turned out so beautiful and she was so sweet.

This place is so frustrating. Book online a blow out for $40. It doesn't say "starting at" just says that's how much I will pay. Pay $15 deposit. Go to salon and stylist says I'm going to flat iron too because it's hot and your hair will frizz. Sure, why not? Go to the front and they said it's $50. She upcharged me over 50% more without telling me. I asked the receptionist and she says the pricing online says "starting at" (not true for my service). Also, they say hijabi friendly and then you go and the main window is open. "No one can see" but yes they can if the blinds aren't closed. There were people literally walking up to the window talking to someone sitting there. That's not hijabi friendly in any way. It's actually rude for them to be dismissive. Don't recommend. read more

We had an important event and booked appointments well in advance, mainly because of our positive experience with Sara Moran during the booking process. However, on the day of the event, there seemed to be a scheduling mix-up. While my confirmation message showed my appointment at 3:30 PM, my sister didn't receive a confirmation message but was informed by Sara that her appointment was at 4:30 PM. When we arrived, the salon staff insisted that we were late, and the system displayed my sister's appointment at 2:30 PM, causing confusion. Regrettably, they declined to accommodate my sister and offered to do only my makeup. This put us in an uncomfortable position! Even if we were late they should talk a little bit nicer but omg on how rude and disrespectful they are! Despite recommending this salon to five other people due to our initial positive impression, we were disappointed with the service provided, and the interactions with the makeup artist left us feeling disheartened. Amal has been doing my hair for years here, and it's all been a great experience. I had never had my makeup done here before, and gave it a chance Friday afternoon with Sara for a wedding later. O.M.G. I don't know what wizardry she does with lashes but her lash application is incredible. I partied, washed my face, showered twice, flew cross country, and had no lift of my lashes until Monday morning. So impressive when every other makeup job I'm lucky if the lashes last the entire night. Next time I do want to try houdas lashes as this time I took my own from huda beauty. read more

This is the most horrible salon you can go to!! My original appointment was @11, they called to and asked to reschedule my appointment time for 1, 2 hours later and very late minute, unprofessional. I ended up changing my plans for the day. I went in to get my hair dyed and styled, I didn't get what I wanted at all. I was there from 1 until 7. I was mistreated badly and my hair was fried because randa was working on another 2 clients including myself, how horrible?! She forgot the bleach on my head , and not to mention got the hair color I wanted ALL wrong!!! It didn't look anything like the color I showed her. After I called the salon to ask what can I do to not let my hair fall off, they give me a mask to use at home. My hair is so damaged and falling off ,I will never go there again and would never recommend this salon to anyone!! read more

I used to sing the praises of the makeup artists here but after my experience here this past weekend, I don't know that I can do it anymore. I was scheduled to get my makeup done here for a wedding. As a bridesmaid I was with the bride helping her get ready and ended up running late. I called the salon 20 minutes before my appointment to let them know I'd be ten minutes late, and oh boy did I pay for it. When my artist came up to get me, I profusely apologized and explained why I was late and she said it was fine, but then continued to give attitude and make comments all throughout the remainder of the appointment. That I guess I can understand as I know how frustrating it is when people are late but, she definitely took it out on my makeup as a result. Gave me a foundation shade 3 shades too light to "match it to my neck." I have never heard of anyone doing that before (usually the neck is done to match the face, not the other way around) and looked like a ghost. Showed her a photo of what I wanted for my eyes and she went way less dramatic than I had asked for. Told her I wanted lashes but she didn't even ask me what kind, just applied whatever she felt like. I paid extra for lashes and it didn't even look like I was wearing any. Just applied a lip color without asking what I wanted (which isn't the end of the world, lips are the easiest to fix on your own.) She finished my makeup in 15 minutes and then left, meanwhile my friends who came with me who were also 10 minutes late were still being worked on for the remainder of their appointment slots. It was the first time I was really disappointed with the service and the results. I understand being annoyed I was late but I felt like I was being punished for said lateness. I basically has to go home and redo what she did. I do know that I will not ever go back to this artist. Highly recommend Arya and Sara O who I had on previous visits and they were extremely professional and do great work, which is why I'm giving 2 stars even though this was a 1-star experience. read more

I Only see Huda to get my eyebrows microbladed. She is so precise and takes pride in her work. I wouldn't trust anyone else. I have never had a chance to get my makeup or hair done here but I follow them on Instagram and have seen such amazing work! Find them on Instagram and you will see. I came here for my hair and makeup for my wedding. I expected a lot more. My makeup was nothing special. My nose contour was horrible, my eyeliner was uneven, and she over lined my lips even though I asked for her not to. The worst part was when they made me wait an hour and half to do my hair because they book appointments too short. They were very inconsiderate especially because I paid $350 for the bridal package. I went in at 10 am and left at 2. They made my wedding day very stressful. All around they are very unprofessional and the salon was hectic. Went in for a blonde balayage and instead had gold roots and white ends.. She bleached my hair for over an hour with foils and under the dryer, and then teased it so vigorously that I think I lost half of my hair in that hour. Also they'll tell you a certain price, then when it's time to check out it's way higher. Regardless of that my hair is completely fried, and over processed when I didn't even want platinum if you would even call it that (my ends were literally clear, transparent, WHITE) I'm so disappointed in my results, all the years and money I spent taking care of my hair all went down the drain. The day of my appointment, the day before my sons wedding Christiano had the receptionist cancel my appointment (Salon West Telegraph) 10 minutes before it was scheduled. ( She managed to find me a stylist at The Michigan Avenue location where I got a migraine due to the cigar bar next door.) When I made a follow up phone call she told me that I had been "de-chaired " by Cristiano as I had on a previous appointment questioned the price of a toner as the rate of $85.00 dollars had never been quoted to me when I made the appointment. I HAVE NO WORDS! NO ADJECTIVES! For a 500 dollar haircut (including tips) Cristiano though talented is a Diva and the staff there is complicit in his shoddy treatment of clients. He taints their reputation and his own. I did ask to speak to the owner. They said he was a silent investor. Too bad he gambles on them. Please be advised the $30 price advertised for woman's wash and hair cut is to get a haircut and walk out with a wet head. If you want your hair blow dried it's going to cost $60+. A bit misleading because I always assumed blow dries were included with a haircut and a style would mean there was a flat iron or curling iron used while styling. I had my hair colored and cut here months ago. First of all the service is terrible, my stylist made me feel awkward because the entire 2 hours she kept trying to talk me in to a Brazilian blow out that was over $300 and that I didn't want. I was pretty unimpressed with the final color but she said I could come back for more toner to fix it. Anyways the main reason I'm writing this review is because ever since I colored my hair here my hair texture completely changed and has started to fall out in chunks. I have actual bald spots now, my hair is drier than straw and impossible to comb. I don't know what product they use but it's clearly bad for your hair. I have seen spent hundreds of dollars trying to repair the damage caused by this salon with no success, my hair is thin, brittle, dry and ruined. Don't go here! read more

Front desk is kind of weird and rude, everyone is in a damn rush, my hair was trimmed in all but 10 minutes and felt like very little care was taken to give me the cut I wanted. As soon as the word trim came out of my mouth the stylist got straight to business without really giving me a chance to elaborate. As soon as she finished she took the cape off and was somehow already on the phone? Also blow dries here are not included in the standard haircut which might be normal in some places but was new to me. So she dried enough so I wasn't dripping wet when I walked out in the cold but my shirt and jacket were still soaked by the time I got home. Would not recommend, would not return. I went in to get my hair done in May and I wanted a burgundy ombré. I would have submitted a photo of the before and after in two weeks but I wear the hijab. I was charged around $300 total for the coloring and a blow out. The worst part is that after I shampooed and conditioned my hair, the dye faded and my hair faded into an orange color. I appreciate all the precautions Salon West has taken during COVID. Went to get my hair dyed by Olfat Kassem and was very pleased with her work. I recommend booking hair with her. She is so sweet and passionate and is extremely talented. She took her time, was careful and gave honest and caring feedback on what she can do with my hair in order not to damage it. She even came in on her day off for myself and a family member in order to work with us. I am definitely going to book with her moving forward. read more

For such a known salon, I found it incredibly offensive that @makeupbyysarah (Sarah azaz) did not have any foundations or Concealers that matched my skin tone. Like I know I may be a lot tanner than her normal client base, but it's a huge salon. You need variety of shades to match people of color.I had to have my makeup redone 3 times, and at the end I had to use my own foundation and concealer. The makeup she ended up doing was makeup I could of done myself and better. I was extremely upset and she stated she felt uncomfortable..... trust me I felt even more uncomfortable paying for a full service for it to be half ass. And the fact that she wanted to charge me extra for redoing it was shocking. Like I'm paying you for the service , service should be completed per customers satisfaction. A receptionist named "Layal" will ruin your whole visit with her unwelcoming attitude. She's extremely rude and inconsiderate, and will overcharge you because she thinks she's a "good" receptionist. My family and I will NEVER return to this place again!! Other salons do better work with tons of smiles that you leave happy even if you're not so happy with the services. Sooo... a few years ago, I had a horrible experience BUT I was there 2 weeks ago, because my aunt urged me to give them another try.. I was very pleased, my makeup was done with Yasmin.. SHE IS A SWEETHEART. And my hair was done by Souheila. Souheila has never failed me whether it was my brows or my hair. She's just amazing and so down to earth. I was impressed. I did notice a difference in the atmosphere since the last time I was there, in a good way ofcourse lol I feel like it was rather out of control before and now there's a tighter no bullshit policy coming from management (thank God, because some of the things coming out of those girls' mouths were so disrespectful and MEAN GIRLISH). Definitely didnt hear any shit talking about clients this time around either.....lol Overall, absolutely no complaint this time. I cannot rave about this place enough. I attempted to get both hair and makeup here done for a close family member's wedding and unfortunately they were completely booked for hair appointments (rightfully so) but I still made an appointment for makeup. Arya does an absolutely incredible job. She asked me how I wanted my makeup done as well as colours. She was fast and efficient and I was so happy with how I looked. I had to get my hair done somewhere else which came out looking terrible (not an exaggeration) but she recommended me to talk to the front desk to see if someone was available to fix it and they were so accommodating and quick. Olfat (an angel on earth) fixed my hair quickly and did not even charge me. Looked even better than I could have imagined. If you have any event the ladies here are incredible. I didn't like the makeup that was done on me. She put way too much highlight on on my cheeks that I had to go home and take it off. The brushes were slapped around my face and she seemed like she was in a rush. Didn't take her time. It's a shame $65 had to go to waste. Also, my friend was getting her hair curled and they burned her scalp! She found out the next day from a different salon because they didn't want to be held responsible for it. I wish I read the reviews before I booked an appointment. First and foremost, the deposit policy is something that y'all should avoid especially when it's just a hair salon. I came in for a formal style for a friends wedding, and the girl I was booked with did such a sloppy job, it's something I would've done for a normal day out. It seems like she didn't know how to do my hair, I emphasized that it was short BEFORE we began and I wanted a certain style, and I even had pictures and showed how it's done. Midway through the process, she says my hair towards the bottoms too short to make it into an updo, but the picture I showed her clearly showed the hair wasn't pulled up, but gave an illusion as an updo but it's just bundled together. She stopped doing my hair then told the hairdresser next to her, olfat, to continue as she can't continue working on my hair and our session wasn't even over. Olfat agreed to take over once she was done with her client even though I wasn't even scheduled with her. Olfat did such a fantastic job fixing up my hair and did it exactly how I showed her in the picture. When olfat finished, I went to go pay and the girl at the front desk said that I lost my deposit and that I wouldn't get the 50 dollars deducted, and I would have to pay again since "I" changed my hairstylist and I told her that wasn't the case, the girl that did my hair literally stopped working on my hair and handed me to olfat, she herself asked olfat to take over. The manager overheard and told me not to worry, that she would go double check this info w olfat, olfat confirmed and I didn't have to repay the deposit. If you're coming to this salon, literally book it w olfat for hair as she does a good job and was willing to take me even though she had her own clients. Other than that, the quality of the hairdressers is poor, and even their makeup service looks a bit botched. The manager was nice, and olfat was terrific.
