Heard great things about Modo so i decided to get a soak off here while visiting in the area, and…read moreit was a huge mistake. i was overcharged and she completely ripped my natural nail bed off and did not deduct much off the payment. I told her to simply to stop because it was burning but she instead starting roughly buffing my nail while it was still heavily bleeding. She used an acrylic tip to rip the nails off my hands instead of soaking first. Do not go there unless you want to get an infection.

Midway through the service, I was suddenly told I had to pay an extra $5 in cash for "taxes." They claimed it was in the fine print, but I had read it thoroughly beforehand and there was no mention of any additional fees. I only paid the extra fee because I was satisfied with the job being done. I decided to give them another chance because I was genuinely happy with the quality of the manicure. For my second visit, I booked a gel manicure + gel pedicure using another Groupon. When I called to make the appointment, I was actually told about the $5 fee. However, halfway through the service, the technician told me I couldn't use the Groupon because I wasn't a "new customer." When I asked why this wasn't mentioned over the phone, she just kept repeating that she couldn't accept it. After some back-and-forth, she finally agreed to take the Groupon. The nail work itself is solid -- clean, well-done, and long-lasting. However, the repeated bait-and-switch tactics around Groupon vouchers and surprise fees left a bad taste. Management seems to rely on this trickery, which is disappointing and dishonest. I won't be returning.

I made an appointment online for a gel manicure and regular pedicure at Onyx with Irma, and it…read moreturned into the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. Right from the beginning, the experience felt rude and dismissive. Irma told me to just give her the nail color number. When I asked if she could quickly compare a picture of the color to the swatch to see if it was close, she barely looked at it and immediately said yes. Her attitude throughout the appointment was cold and unprofessional. Then, when she started my manicure, she began applying a rubber base gel instead of regular gel polish. I asked what she was using, and she told me it was rubber base gel. I explained that I never booked that service and that my appointment was for a standard gel manicure. She insisted I was wrong, went to the front desk to check, and came back claiming my appointment was for rubber base. I then showed her my appointment confirmation proving it was for a regular gel manicure. After that, her demeanor completely changed. She seemed visibly annoyed while removing the rubber base she had already started applying. She began using the drill on my nails aggressively enough that it actually burned, and I had to pull my hand away. Meanwhile, the manager was sitting only a couple chairs away watching the entire situation and made absolutely no effort to step in or address what was happening. Once the manicure was finished, I went to the front desk where the receptionist again claimed my appointment was for rubber base. I showed her my confirmation, and she eventually admitted that someone at the salon had changed my service because they "assumed" I wanted rubber base again since I had gotten it previously. When I asked why nobody simply called to ask me first, there was no real answer. The receptionist said she would get the manager, but he never even came over to speak to me personally. Instead, I was told they would "note my account" that I don't want rubber base and offer me a discount. I explained that there was nothing to discount because I never requested that service in the first place, and the rubber base had already been removed from the few nails where it had been applied. Despite the entire experience, I still tipped Irma 20% because I respect people who work in service. She literally grabbed the money from my hand and didn't even say thank you. Not once did anyone apologize for changing my service without permission, for the rude treatment, or for the overall negative experience. They were perfectly happy to take my money, though. Nail services are expensive, and customers are paying for a professional experience. I'm not asking for special treatment, but I do expect basic respect and accountability. Irma's attitude, combined with the manager's complete lack of concern over a mistake made by his staff, is unacceptable. I used to come to this salon years ago under previous management and wanted to give it another chance, but that was clearly a mistake. The customer service from some employees is extremely unprofessional, and their prices are no better than many comparable salons. I'll be spending my money elsewhere. And honestly, don't be fooled by all the fancy new names for their services. It feels more like a way to justify charging higher prices than offering anything truly special.

Very expensive, I get charged different amounts for the same nail service. Just had a nail tech,…read morecharged more for the same thing I had before, very disappointed.

I previously enjoyed going to this salon, however after my last experience I will not be going back…read moreagain. Every salon I receive a pedicure at, the technician and I always have a small laugh at how ticklish my feet are initially. This happened here as well, however the difference was my nail tech decided that throughout the ENTIRE pedicure it would be a great idea to randomly tickle the sole of my foot with his fingers, laughing to himself while I sat there very uncomfortably. Honestly, who does this? Even if he was or wasn't a man I would have hated it all the same; it was extremely creepy and evidently he does it to other women as well, as shown by other reviews. Because of this alone I will not be returning.
