She had a groupon showing that if she paid $80 she could have a full head of highlights, deep conditioning, and a blow dry. She had Jizel as her hair stylist. On consolation Jizel asked for reference photos. She wanted chunky highlights. She was told that platinum might be too light. My mother said purple highlights would work also but she definitely wanted it to be big chunks. She was given estimated pricing before anything started. Boy was this going to visit going to teach my mom a lesson about using new salons because of a groupon deal. The highlights were not lifted enough even though her hair was healthy but more importantly, they were not chucky at all. After the toning, her hair doesn't even look highlighted in photos. When she complained at the end, completely in tears, she was told that people who use the discounts get novice hair dressers. This information was only given afterwards. They never offered her to come back and fix it. (To be fair, she was so upset she would never go back). As if completely ignoring the request of the client wasn't enough, she was given a bill of $269.36 $70 Glaze color $120 Color between highlights $69 New Client Promotion Special When I called and spoke to the owner Melissa, she was not interested in seeing the photos, she said that you must contact the salon within one week of an issue. I explained that my mother already did contact them the day of in tears. She told me that now 17 days later, they can not do anything. Umm, you can refund her anytime. Since she is not interested in seeing the photos. Please enjoy reviewing and decide if you would want to risk not looking at all like your reference photos when complete.

When I went to checkout, she charged me for the price of full face + eyebrows. She had the opportunity to share with me what "sides of face" vs "full face" meant in the studio when I said the exact term "sides of my face" and when I pointed out what areas I wanted waxed. She asked me if I wanted my chin waxed but I said no, I only needed the sides of my face done. If I thought I was getting a full face wax, I wonder if she waxed my chin, if she would have charged me an additional price for chin. So there's plenty of room for communication on pricing and the ambiguous services with no descriptions online. It's easy to mix up what does "full face" mean vs "sides of face" vs "sideburns", etc. and that "full face" also does not mean eyebrows are included. Had I known what I was being charged for, I would not have come here to begin with, so it's disheartening to have given away $75 plus a cash tip to this place just to get my sideburns/cheeks + eyebrows waxed, and no other part of my face, when I could have found better pricing elsewhere. Also their online pricing was different from what they were charging me in the system, and there's no signs or brochures in person that show their latest raised prices. The last thing is the site says you get $20 off your first service as a new customer, but in person, they said it only applies to hair coloring services, which COULD be easily clarified online, but It's just online bait, which is another reason why I initially came to try out this place.

My friend booked hair appointments at Salon Concrete for her wedding day. I'm not sure if this was provided by the salon or the bride, but there was a table in the center of the salon which had bagels, muffins, juice, mimosas and water for us to enjoy while waiting. Since we couldn't all have appointments at once, it was nice to be able to have a little nosh. I believe there were two or three stylists working with our group. Cassie did my hair and did a great job. I knew I wanted some sort of flowy curls with half of my hair out of my face, but I left the rest up to Cassie's expertise. Cassie and a few other stylists strategized and then she got to work. It took a while to curl my hair but my hair is very thick and wavy so that's expected. She meticulously went through each section. I was very happy with the end result. I only wish a few more pins and spray had been used. I had to run back to the salon to pick up a friend a little after my appointment and another stylist was able to touch me up which helped the style last through most of the night. The whole party, especially the bride, looked gorgeous so I would certainly recommend Salon Concrete for your wedding or formal hair needs.

The left side of my hair was actually longer in the front than it was in the back, while the right side was significantly shorter in the front than in the back as it's supposed to be with face-framing. Backstory: I have been in Boston for a summer internship but came home to NJ for one weekend and decided to get my hair done here since my mom raves about Salon Concrete all the time. I noticed the unevenness when I got back to Boston and figured they wouldn't mind fixing it up a little for me when I got back...WRONG! I just called Salon Concrete, granted it's been a while since I figured it didn't matter when I call them because I won't be back until the end of August, to let them know about my hair and that I'd like to come back to get it fixed. The receptionist that I spoke to this time around was incredibly unpleasant and unfortunately I didn't get her name. I was informed that when I returned home from Boston they would not fix my hair but I could pay for another haircut since the grace period has ended. I understand that when I return from Boston a few weeks will have passed since my haircut, but the mistake will still be there! It would really only take them 5 minutes to fix it! I'm VERY disappointed with their customer service after my appointment. I will not be returning to pay another $70 for a quick fix that should not cost me anything because it should not have happened in the first place, I of course understand that people make mistakes and that is okay with me. I do not understand why Salon Concrete thinks it's okay to let there mistakes go unfixed. Aside from the fact that Salon Concrete will not fix their mistake, Kristen and Nina were both great. Nina did an awesome job with my color and aside from the one mistake, I'm loving my cut from Kristen. I simply cannot overlook the rude receptionist and the terrible customer service that followed my appointment.

I don't trust anyone else with my hair! I have long, very thick hair that I only cut about once…read moreevery 5 - 6 months and they know exactly how to deal with my 30 pounds of thick hair. I recently got a few highlights put in, which I was nervous about, so Teresa put just the right amout in my hair, so it just looks a bit sunkissed. They always bend over backwards to make sure you're happy and comfortable. Oh, and the shampoos are hypnotic! A complete treat!
