Today, I finally decided to bite the bullet and give Illusions a shot, and I'm so glad I did! My appointment for a gel manicure and regular pedicure with Tina was at 1pm, and I got there a few minutes early. We picked out polishes and then started the pedicure before moving on to the manicure. I was there for about 100 minutes total (some of the reviews said three hours, so I was relieved). Tina is METICULOUS and so nice. She has been doing nails for 30 years, and it shows! She was able to recommend what would look best, my cuticles look amazing, and the pedicure didn't even tickle me like it normally does. I paid $70 for both, and tips are cash only. This is not the place for an upscale, pampering spa day--it could use some updating, instruments didn't come in sterilized peel packs, etc.--but the price is right for a standard and high-quality mani/pedi.

He left my hair dangling in my eyes for most of the time I was in his chair, which felt like torture by tiny razors. I still paid (but not for the blow dry) and tipped, because I'm a decent human, but he should have compensated me for the loss of my hair. This man has no business touching women's hair. Unfortunately, I could not hear the woman's name. I went to the salon today and asked to speak with a manager, and actually met with the owner (Mr. Carmen- apologies if that is not the correct spelling). He listened to my tale and asked if I could wait 10 or 15 minutes and he would have one of his stylists fix the issue. That stylist ended up being a wonderful man named Jesse Z. He was able to diagnose my issue immediately and assured me that bobs are his specialty. He was not lying. He was able to make my hair look great. But Salon Alure did not just simply have someone fix the problem. When I was checking out...they not only did not charge me for today's fix (which I expected)...they gave me a gift certificate for my next visit as well. I certainly did not ask for that, nor was I expecting it. I must say I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative. I know everyone has a bad day now and then, Lord knows I have had my share.
