This Salon has had my heart for years! It's simply incredible. Every touch has been thought of and expertly executed. Customer service is 10/10! In particular, Mia is the only person I'll ever trust with my brows, and MC is a wizard with a haircut! But truly anyone there will fix you right up and get you out the door feeling like a supermodel! I always adore my appointments there. read more

How are there only 178 reviews? Give me a break.$70 plus tip for a almost bald guy? My wife went there. My 90 year old mother went there, but after a year or so,we all agreed this place is stupid expensive. And we did find a nice place for half the price. read more

I have been obtaining cut and highlight services at Salon Spa W for over ten years and have been very happy. Starting in early 2023, I decided I wanted to grow my hair longer as I was seeing that look on more professional women. I get my haircut by Elle, she is so sweet and does a great job! I love seeing her every time I come in. I do not color my hair but I did have Ruby do it once and she outdid my expectations! I am natural and she added the perfect subtle touch I wanted. read more

For many years I came here for pedicures but then three nail salons opened within a mile of my home so I decided to try them out and not drive from WDM and pay for parking. But, I missed Rian, who is awesome but not easy to get an appointment with (because she is awesome)! But I snagged two appointments with her and enjoyed going there today on my birthday. Her leg massage is fantastic and I enjoy being able to look out the large windows that let light into the salon. Bonus was picking up some gifts for my Granddaughter from the tables they had set up. Guess I will make the trek at least a couple of times a year! read more

Recently my husband booked a mothers day facial for me and I loved the experience here. I got some delicious Prosecco to start my relaxing evening. I got a peel with Mariah I think was her name that day and I just loved the results after. She was so sweet and made me feel so serene. I was convinced I'd come back for a haircut which I did just that. Couple weeks I went in and got a haircut with Eva. Loved her down to earth personality. I was glad the stylist I had been scheduled with came in late because I got to meet Eva and found someone I feel comfortable coming back to. Before my haircut I got a scalp massage and it was very relaxing. She trimmed my short hair and framed my face a bit to add balance all through out my hair. Overall loved the experience as usual. Will be coming back to see Eva and get a few other services here. Definitely recommend to all friends and family. read more

Eyva and the rest of the staff were amazing today! I really appreciate the added value of the scalp and shoulder massage, as well as the paraffin hand treatment that comes with the haircut. If you have curly hair 3a to 4b, save your money and do not go to this salon for a blow out. They have no idea what they are doing. 1) brushing out curly hair while it's dry and brushing from the top down while pulling my hair down. 2) splitting my hair in sections that made zero sense with hair still in my face. 3) blow drying my hair with a paddle brush 4) blow drying while pulling my hair down 5) half my hair will pulled out bc they have no idea what they are doing and it ended up on the floor. 6) complete frizz and they tried to pass it off as a blow out. They are liars and they have no idea how to do a blow out on curly hair. They just want your money and tip. Find another spot. read more

I've been to this salon once before, I enjoyed it so I was going to become a returning customer. I called today and the lady on the phone was SO RUDE. (see screenshot) she was so snappy, from the beginning of the phone call she just gave the vibe she was short tempered. She asked me what i wanted done and when i said id like a women's hair cut, she raised her voice at me and so I hung up, i felt very uncomfortable from her condescending tone. Really upsetting because i enjoyed my last experience. Will not be coming back. read more

Let me tell you about my wonderful experience with Stephanie and this salon. I am on a work trip to Des Moines and I wanted to get a simple mani/pedi. Initially I was only able to book a manicure. What I ended up getting was an absolutely wonderful 3 hour experience. I was lucky enough to have a person cancel on Stephanie at the last minute and she was able to squeeze me in for a pedicure as well. Between the complimentary Prosecco, the hot neck towel, and the phenomenal conversation you're in for the best salon experience ever. She was not only an absolute wealth of nail care knowledge but also an absolute perfectionist when it comes to making you feel comfortable and customer care service. Her attention to detail is immaculate, her passion and enthusiasm will have you leaving the salon not just extremely satisfied with her killer skills but also with a new friend! read more

I went in for a haircut with Jamie and was very impressed with her. I showed her some pictures of what I was looking for and discussed with her in depth what I wanted and didn't want. She listened to me and my concerns thoroughly. She gave me exactly what I wanted. I really appreciated her skill and professionalism. She's very good at what she does. If you need someone who can do a good technical haircut, she's your girl. She even curled my hair for me and showed me some tips on how to do it with a flat iron. I liked the scalp massage and the paraffin wax hand treatment. She offered to do a makeup touch up after my haircut but my parking meter ran out so I decided to skip it. She ran out and put a quarter in my meter for me while I was paying so I wouldn't get a ticket. Now that's service! read more

Salon Spa W - I feel so amazing! - Hair Salons Near Me - Des Moines, Iowa

I am in town visiting my friend and her husband booked us a 45 minute signature facial and a pedicure. The facial was disappointing. It only lasted 29 minutes - I get that some places account for undressing and dressing but 16 minutes? I did a B2 hydration add on per the recommendation of the esthetician and it was just a sheet mask, which ending up costing $35 when the facial itself was $85. Despite the add on, I still got done at the same time as my friend. Also, no eye cream or anything for my lips? That's not good. The pedicure was slightly better. My foot bath was just hot water, no soap or salts or anything. My friend's next to me had something in it based on the bubbles in her water. My nail tech filed a couple of my nails crooked so I had to have her fix them but she did a great job with my cuticles. I get monthly facials and pedicures at home so I'm not new to this. I wouldn't come back here again. read more

Had two great experiences with Salon Spa W so would definitely recommend to others. When my sister was getting married she had another hair and makeup place change her person a few times and then finally cancel the order as they didn't have experience with people with darker skin. It was very disappointing and stressful so I called Salon Spa W VERY shortly before the wedding date to see if they could even fit in one person so we could get her bridal makeup. They were able to get her in and she got the airbrush. The staff was diverse, had experience with lots of skin types and tones, and color matched her skin perfectly. She was glowing and said it was a no amazing memory to start of her wedding day. After that, I asked how far out they booked so that I could get my makeup done there too! I had airbrush and my bridesmaid had regular bridal party makeup application. I had to call back a few times to change the count later in the year and also to change the time to later in the day. They handled it all well and had each item under the guests name, so if one wanted to get her hair done, they could see what time her makeup was to work around that too. My sister still remembered and recognized her makeup artist from a year ago, that's how much she loved her experience! They allowed me to request if I wanted everyone to be similar, if I wanted the same eyes, if they could just pick their own style, etc. When I showed up they had a sign and red carpet and water to welcome me and my party. I brought a few photos for inspiration and also had them adjust a little at the end which they were so nice about. My two bridesmaids and both mothers loved their makeup and experience- a few even found a new favorite lip color and bought the lipstick to keep! Everyone's makeup lasted all day. The only advice I would give is I did get hot during the day and a little shiny so keep some blotting sheets on you. The appointment payments must also have a card down to hold them so if people want to pay separately, make sure to separate them out beforehand as the charge goes through the day before. They email you a receipt and charge for tip so you don't have to worry about how much to tip and can just send that to your party too if you'd rather just do one card and venmo each other. Overall wonderful experience, great start to the day, and great staff read more

Left feeling amazing after this massage, still feeling it at the end of the day. So I'm out here from Southern California to work for a couple months I looked on Yelp for a good place to get a pedicure and found Salon Spa W I had a great pedicure with Angie she was so thorough and gentle she was great! Then I asked about a massage and I met Rian I had a 1 hour massage wow!! She was beyond professional and so accommodating it was the best massage I've ever had I left so refreshed that I scheduled a 90 minute massage in the next few weeks! Rian is awesome! read more

I went in for a Keratin smoothing treatment and I had an amazing experience!! Very happy with the service and the outcome. After moving here from California, I had difficulty finding a good salon in the area that offers this type of hair treatments. A mom recommended this salon in a local mom group that I follow and I'm so glad that I gave it a try. My hair has been severely dried and damaged over the years bleaching and ironing my hair daily. The treatment definitely helped. My hair is now more soft and manageable. It takes me less time to style and get ready in the morning. I definitely plan to come back here in the future to get a routine treatment. read more

So far the best hair saloon I've ever been. I did my very first balayage on my dark black hair with haircut and had a life changing experience. While I got consultation (Jackie) gave me tons of suggestions to choose from as I was confused about my color. Also got unlimited refills of wine and snacks which made my experience to get 5 star lol. Honestly she deserves to be the the no1 level stylist. She made sure she was talking throughout casually while detailing the steps in the hair appointment. Unfortunately I moved out of Desmoines to the Bay Area and miss this kind of quality experience. read more

This was my first time going to Salon Spa W. I needed an eyebrow wax like you wouldn't believe and a opted for a manicure as well. Zoe did my manicure and she was amazing. She was super friendly and personable. She helped me pick the perfect color. She even recommended the salt scrub which I did and I am so glad I did. My hands feel refreshed and look beautiful and better than before. Then I saw Mia for an eyebrow wax and she did a lovely job. She shaped them perfectly to my face and was gentle. Which helps when you're getting any kind of wax. I definitely did not leave disappointed and will definitely return for some more "me time" and even some sister time. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Great spot for a girls day or just a you day. read more

I traveled to Des Moines for work and wanted to unwind after a long day of driving. This spa/salon is fantastic, they really know how to take care of you. Abby did my pedicure and she made me feel very relaxed. She did an excellent number on my feet, and she's been working here a long time. Go to her. Molly did my hair, and she done me up good. She gave me a complimentary hand treatment and took care of my dry scalp! She's got a great soul and seemed invested in my happiness. It's everything I wanted. At the end she didn't pressure me into buying product. They offered me wine, and two different options of fruit water. It was very busy but I felt like I was the only one there. I highly recommend this place - I feel lovely. read more

Jess was absolutely phenomenal. I was long overdue for a haircut. I knew I wanted something different but wasn't sure what that was exactly. Jess knew EXACTLY what to do and I left feeling like a whole new person. Took 7 inches off and completely transformed my hair in all the right ways. This was my first time visiting this salon and it will not be my last. I highly recommend, it was a great experience. Thank you, Jess! Shout out to Tanner for the scalp/neck massage! read more

Great experience! I was there to get an updo for my family wedding. Upon arrival someone greeted me and offered something to drink. They had everything upfront and ready. Great experience and also not overly expensive! read more

Salon Spa W is great! I like that it feels like a relaxing experience instead of just a regular haircut. Love coming in and getting a complimentary neck massage and glass of prosecco. The staff and stylists are literally so nice and I don't feel pressured to buy a bunch of products. They do make really good recommendations though and then I can decide from there. The stylists are all really great. I usually try to book with the same person but they legit can book out like a year in advance so if you like someone, book your next appointment way before you need it. Absolutely loved my experience! It started with a discussion on what haircut I wanted and Frankie provided great ideas to accommodate the cut I wanted without going too short. The place is cool but the owner is awful. Treats her staff so poorly and is the definition of a bully. The gal that cut and the one that colored my hair both left. Salon Spa W is one of those places that helps you leave all your stresses at the door. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by friendly ladies that check you in, offer you some wine or cucumber/lemon water. The salon itself is modern, immaculately clean and an incredibly relaxing environment. Personally, I go to salon Spa W for my Pedicures! I always see Rian, she is AMAZING. The pedicure area is made up of big comfortable couch like chairs with a beautiful bowl for the water below. Upon sitting down, Rian always asks me if I would like a warm or cold neck wrap which is a delightful touch. It helps me relax my shoulders while my feet are being pampered! The pedicure itself is blissful. Rian gets everything off my feet and takes her time to make sure my feet are baby soft when I leave. (For someone who wears birks every day, this is a mammoth feat!) They are polished to perfection and massaged until I am almost asleep. The sanitization is always TOP NOTCH as well. You get your own file and buffer and are always offered it when you leave, they sanitize the bowls after every use as well. I have always noticed the steps they take for sanitization and they do make a difference! If you want a fantastic salon service with unparalleled customer service, Salon Spa W is your place! PS: be sure to get a punch card for your nail services! You get little treats after so many services! read more

Salon Spa W is absolutely one of my favorite places to go to get my hair done. I love that they have separate colorists and stylists, so you know that you're getting someone who is really up to date on all the new techniques. Blakelee still does my color after over a year now. I can't see myself ever going to anyone else! She is such an amazing professional, and outside of how long my hair color lasts and how much it's improved, she has great tips for places to go in the area!
