Just got home from a fabulous experience with Rachel. I have been a bit lost not having a salon to call home, and I feel like I found my place! It is so extremely rare to sit in that chair and feel like the stylist just "gets" what I'm looking for and can make it a reality. Rachel made it happen so painlessly and the experience was pleasant through and through (and the mimosa didn't hurt either ). I was so appreciative after having to cancel my appointment last week due to an emergency with my son, that Rachel didn't hold the cancellation against me and showed concern asking how he was doing. My hair came out beautifully, and Rachel took the time to answer all my inquiries about hair troubles and techniques. I will most definitely be returning! read more

Finding the right salon and stylist for you is a tough endeavor. Women aren't a fan of it if they don't already have someone they can trust. This was me. My previous stylist was a one-woman show and it rescheduling with her wasn't easy (in my opinion, this is a good problem for her to have!). I decided to do my online research to try and find a salon that was a bit closer to home, but still with that trendy flare I was needing in my life. Salon Rae Cal was it! Located conveniently near the highway in Worcester, I was sold on that aspect, but not just yet. Instagram is the cousin of Yelp if you didn't know. One must always search on other forms of social media before building that trust. I did that and called immediately after seeing the amazing work they did there. Sasha was my stylist and the vibes I got from her instantly allowed me to relax and trust her. While we were doing my toner, she said "did you want more lavender in here?" I said, "Sure, why not?" She said she liked it when my hair was wet and when she dried it, I know we made a great choice to do it! While she was cutting my hair she told me she was going to be taking a class on cutting bobs. What you should always look for with your stylist is them continuing their education and staying up to date with trends. These ladies in Salon Rae Cal work together so well, more like a sisterhood, and it shows. My question to you, reader, is why aren't you picking up the phone to book your appointment, too? A girl here did my hair and it came out awful. I called and asked for it to be re done and blended as it was very 90s like highlights rather than what we had talked about and was told my hair just doesn't do what it's supposed to do there was nothing else that could be done. There were chunks of bright blonde all over in between dark pieces when I wanted it blended to look natural. No offer on anything. I spent a lot of money to get my hair done and wasted my time on a service that was not in it for my hair needs but rather for the pocket of the girl standing over me. disappointing. Forget her name but it was girl who stands all the way down on the right. Dark hair. There are plenty of other talented hairdressers for way less than 350 dollars that will do it correctly the first time. Do not recommend this girl read more

This was my first salon experience in years and actually the best one I've had. Rebecca did an amazing job on my hair and was able to suggest what would work best for my hair. I've been to this salon twice, the first time for a haircut and it was subpar. And yesterday I went for a "balayage" service by a young hairstyling named Peyton. I showed her several reference images, and even had a consultation with her when I went in for my haircut weeks ago. My goals was to add some light dimension on my brown hair, however that was not at all it turned out to be. I started to suspect tell she did not know what she was doing by the frequency she would check in on my hair, "another10 minutes" she would say, I started to get nervous. I went in at 11am and left the salon at around 3:30pm (she had someone help blow my hair out). Now I've had balayage done at a number of places, top salons in metropolitan cities like Miami, and Los Angeles. It has never taken this long in my experience, and I should mention that my hair is about shoulder length. Anyways, the nightmare ensued when I called back to speak to the salon owner, who was very rude on the phone with me. I asked for a refund of $225 which was the total for this awful service. I clearly explained, that I just didn't feel comfortable going back to the salon to have my hair "checked out", and have her asses the damage. I was disappointed with her attitude as well as the salon's staff and the lack of professionalism on their end. She refused to give me a refund, she said that the salon "doesn't do that". Even though this policy is not stated on their site anywhere (not even in their digital receipts). If you're thinking of getting any services done at this salon, I would reconsider. Take this as a helpful tip! I'm not often someone who writes reviews like this, but I set out to warn people so they can avoid getting their hair damaged like mine. read more

While not terribly easy to find, once I did, I felt like I had found "my place". Since moving to Worcester three years ago I bounced around a bit trying out several different hair salons but never really feeling satisfied. Salon Rae Cal is not only a calming oasis once you enter but highly stylish as well. Based on favorable reviews on Yelp, I chose Rachael, the owner to cut my hair which was one of the best decisions I could have made. I had brought in a few images of the type of haircut I was hoping to have and Rachael agreed that it was a great choice for my hair type. I have to say, this was probably the best cut I have ever had. Another tremendous feature of Rachael's ministrations was her thorough and lengthy scalp massage. I could go back every week just for that. I definitely will be back to Salon Rae Cal when it is time for another cut. If I had a wish, it would be for them to open a branch on the East Side of Worcester, close to me. read more

TERRIBLE TREATMENT, UNWANTED BLUE HAIR and NO ATTEMPT to fix anything. Never again. Genuinely so upset by my first [and last] appointment here due to what I experienced. I'm from a big city 1. with a lot of hair coloring experience so I know how to be reasonable with expectations 2. typically a huge tipper, and 3. if someone does right by me and my hair... (or is a decent interaction alone) .. I'll literally SHOWER them with love and support even if it's not perfect. but this whole experience was such a slap in the face. (minus the front desk ladies.. they were LOVELY). I sent the stylist pictures with a brief description of what I wanted before we met... but she then started to work on my hair without even talking to me. I tried telling what I wanted when I noticed she already started and she responded "you already sent pics"... (I sent her multiple pics of different things I wanted?) Even though I felt she didn't want to hear it I still tried to force a conversation but it felt like she didn't listen to me at all and just wanted me to stop talking. No questions, no descriptions to confirm what she was going to do, just a bunch of "mmhm's" and "yeah's". I tried to warn the stylist DURING the appointment that it wasn't going to turn out right by her foil placement and, surprise surprise, she doubled down and ignored my concerns... and she was gone the ENTIRE time without checking on my hair at all during processing even though it was my first time in her chair. I had to go to the front desk to have them go get her because it got me so nervous for the amount of time she didn't even check. Immediately when we finished I told her that I like her work (to be nice) but its not what I was asking her for.. it looked like I didn't even get my hair done except for THE FRONT OF MY HAIR BEING BLUE... it washed out for the most part after 5+ washes (I took pictures) but still looked REDICULOUS for weeks with the rest of my hair.... again no remorse and no awareness at what was happening with the person in her chair.. I was so unhappy and obviously concerned with how I was leaving. I was fighting back tears at this point and let her know politely I wasn't happy. She told me to reach out and come back in a couple of days to fix it if I don't like it... zero care that I was leaving unhappy.. didn't even offer a second rinse to try and make my hair less blue... just rushed me out like she had somewhere to be. I asked.. and she has nowhere to be and nothing going on after... So I went home. I was already pissed.. but still tipped. ZERO thank you or even acknowledgement.. but she answered immediately when I asked for her venmo name to send it. After I reached out to fix my hair I was ignored multiple times until I finally let her know how unhappy I was the the entire experience and her treatment of me (again, way kinder than I needed to be because you never know what someones going through)... and I just got a cold response AGAIN if I'm unhappy to make an appointment with the front desk. No apologies, no empathy, no trying to fix what she did... just a cold response for ME to handle it. Book another? after all that?? at this point I'd rather eat a shoe. (fyi never got anything fixed and no one else reached out) Best wishes to anyone going here because even if you express your grievances... before.... during.... or even after.... you're better off just screaming into a void. read more

I live in Boston proper and I ubered an hour each way to get to this salon, which is basically all I need to say about how great it is. I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted, using the word balayage when what I actually wanted was something completely different. I have dark, short, dry, keratin treated bi-racial hair that can be really difficult to work with and typically turns me off from trying new salons I haven't been to before. Lena really listened to me and gave me feedback about what would and wouldn't work, without making me feel stupid for not knowing what I was talking about. Lena somehow made my hair look better than what I had dreamed of it looking like. I could not be happier with the way my blonde turned out, I was in the salon for 5+ hours and the entire staff was so friendly and welcoming the entire time I was there. 100% worth the Uber to Worcester, I am sure I will be making the trip again in the near future. read more

I will never go here again the inside is nice they Offer you stuff to drink it is a very high end salon so when I came in I expected to get someone who knows what they where doing when I went in sat down I showed her what I wanted and I did not get even close to that the color was wrong the cut was wrong I then had a girl sitting next to me who had more color put in here hair who was there about the same amount of time I was who got charged less then me as I was sitting with color in my hair the staff was whispering and saying this behind my back cuz she asked me what I did for a living and was like oh that must be good money I was like a I do good then found out after from my friends that are hairdressers said that they took advantage of me and uncharged me and it was not even what I wanted and on top of all that she blow dryer my hair out and curled the ends so I typically don't wash my hair for two days after when I did I took my flat iron to it and my whole hair cut was very blunt cut which I hate and it was so uneven I was so mad I contacted her to ask her to fix it and she told me I don't have time mind you I spent almost 400 dollars and she did not want to fix it how crazy it that I will never go here again I felt like I was completely taken advantage the girl kept telling me to over and over oh the first time is always expensive but the next time you come in it will not be so bad then it was weird cuz I watched her go over and have the receptionist to put something in then she goes no no and changed it then looked ant the screen then goes to walk away then goes back changes it again I am so unhappy with my hair and the way the charged me I know never to go here ever again read more
