I have not gone local to a salon for 7 years because people have made me feel bad for the thickness in my hair in the past and did a bad job. But, Studio G, I've learned today, is definitely where I'll be going and recommending from now on. 20% your first time there, and for getting color, blow out, and a cut it was reasonably priced I feel (around $100). Had gone to many different salons with very different pay scales. I can't say enough about Studio G & Brianna. She nailed it!!! I was very happy with the results, professionalism, & cleanliness of the shop. It was my first time there & Brianna made sure she kept looking at the picture that I wanted my hair to look like. Most places I've gone to prior, you show them a picture & they never look at it again & just do what they want to do. Brianna had a lot of different steps she had to take for processing the color I wanted w/o damaging my hair. I very highly recommend this salon & Brianna. Whoever scheduled the appointment failed to ask her any questions about her hair or the color service she wanted and simply told her to come in. When she arrived, excited and ready for her appointment, she showed the staff what she wanted, only to be told that the process would take too long and they couldn't accommodate her. What upset me most wasn't that they couldn't perform the service. It was how they handled the situation. There was no apology for the miscommunication or acknowledgment that their scheduling process had failed. Instead, they looked at her hair in a way that made her feel as though something was wrong with it. A simple conversation when booking could have prevented this entire experience. If certain color services require additional time or a consultation, that should be communicated before accepting an appointment. My daughter came in excited and left feeling embarrassed and upset. Regardless of whether a salon can accommodate a particular service, every client deserves to be treated with kindness, professionalism, and respect.

I am just passing though NJ, but after some Google search I found this salon. It was close to me and the cost seemed reasonable on their website (135+ for bayalage). Which is totally normal for my hair, it's usually 250 after tip. My salon experience cost me 414 after tip, which is mind blowing-I was so flawed over the price my hair color didn't hit until the next morning. I shouldn't have offered to pay before the service was over, I was just being kind so the owner didn't have to come back and close up after us. I never got a recept or a breakdown of what I was charged for. I have a feeling I was charged for additional services I didn't ask for, nor should have been warranted for a bayalage. I had Yngrid as my stylist and I LOVE how she cut and thinned my hair, but she missed the mark on the color after showing her pictures and telling her how I wanted it. Ultimately my hair was just highlighted an ugly gray color, it was "glazed," which I've never had done, and a root treatment...the point of a bayalage is that it doesn't start at the root, which I had stated in the chair...I wanted it to start a few inches from my root. Therefore a root treatment should have never been needed to "blend" the color. While I was also getting my hair done a client came in because she was not happy of the color of her hair. If I had time I would have gone back to have them tone it but I'm on the go and work late. I took time out of work to have my hair done (it was very over due). Overall this salon over charges for services, and it seems like the artists just do their own thing. If you can't simulate the style in the photos don't do the hair!

As I continued to search, I found Ms. Finele listed as a Certified Consultant on the Sisterlocs website. The process of calling and obtaining an appointment for a consultation was simple and straightforward. Prior to the consultation: Ms. Finele called me back once available; Automated text message system reminds of upcoming appointment; Location was easy to find and parking available upon arrival.   During the consultation: Salon is clean with personal and individual sense of décor; I was warmly welcomed, offered a beverage, provided with information literature and tasked to watch a short video prior to the start of my consultation; Ms. Finele provided additional information on Sisterlocs. She proceeded to check on my scalp health, hair health, asked about hair habits, and amount of stress experienced in general. Furthermore, she discussed possible post-partum effects (while this did not apply to me, it was in my opinion an important information to include in the conversation). This was the most insightful consultation I had. Ms. Finele was knowledgeable, attentive and patient. She proceeded to install tester locs, showed photos and explained my options to help me finalize my decision.   While waiting, I had the opportunity to see Dannavan working on a client's hair- who informed that she has been coming to the salon for more than a year. While everyone's hair is different, the client's hair style was simply beautiful and I could not help but project myself into the future with a similar coiffure. My consultation went well and I felt such a positive vibe that I agreed on an installation for Sisterlocks, signed the contract and paid the deposit the same day. I did experienced a bout of cold feet afterward. Fortunately, I had the chance to speak to a 20+ years Sisterlocs client of Ms. Finele who provided a wonderful feedback and high praises.   Installation: About a month later, my installation appointment date came; Consultant came on time and worked late, asking me if it was alright to continue past the hours previously indicated; VIP treatment was provided for 3 days- delicious a la carte meals and movies galore; I was constantly asked if I was comfortable and provided with ergonomic pillows to alleviate any discomfort.   Post installation: Consultant called the day after completion to enquire on how I was feeling- customer service level at its finest ; I was provided with clear instructions on how to care for my hair; Consultant has been very gracious via phone and text message to respond to any questions and or concerns I raised; Follow up appointments are scheduled in advance, with flexibility to accommodate as needed.   As of today, I had 4 reties post my install and my only regret is not doing it sooner. The professionalism, expertise and clear communication I experienced with Ms. Finele and Dannavan are outstanding and as such I highly recommend them based on my positive experience.

I had to cancelled my appointment and she was only willing to give me half of my deposit back. I was already Leary on going to her. Because of her attitude. Never personally went into the shop. So that was one reason why I felt that maybe her attitude should have been different. Never met her in person just spoke to her over the phone a few times. I do hope that she will change her attitude, I'm Sure her business is doing well like it may have been before I met her . But I'm not desperate and there are so many more Loctician I can go to.
