I can't say enough wonderful things about Carmela! She is an amazing hair colorist and stylist and truly takes pride in her work. She always gets my color exactly right, and her haircuts are beautiful and flattering. Beyond how talented she is, Carmela is also such a kind, considerate, and genuinely caring person. She takes the time to listen to what you want and makes you feel comfortable and taken care of from start to finish. I always leave her chair feeling beautiful and happy with my hair. I highly recommend Carmela to anyone looking for an incredibly talented stylist and an all-around wonderful person! read more

This is my third time returning to Nick for my hair color and cut. I have extremely short hair with foils that Nick has done perfectly every time. He likes to remind me that it is not easy to do foils on such short hair, but he always does an amazing job. He is, as far as I'm concerned, the best in the business. Otherwise, why would I travel an hour to come see him lol! read more

I had a GREAT experience at Salon Maffei this morning and the days leading up to my appointment. I am 9 months pregnant and wanted to get a smoothing or keratin type treatment, as well as color and cut, and John was able to fit me in early so that I could do all of the treatments I wanted. He also was completely upfront about the cost which I really appreciated because sometimes you do these things and they end up charging you more because of something you "needed" on top of the treatment. I've grown to expect that at salons but this was different and refreshing! Donna did my Magic Sleek treatment as well as cut and color and did an incredible job. I could not be happier with the results and while getting all of this done was a long process, she explained everything every step of the way and was so lovely to talk to. For someone who is very pregnant, this salon was incredibly accommodating and kind (Plus, I could not have picked a better place to experience my first earthquake!) I will definitely be back to get my hair done with Donna! read more

I love Nick! He's great! I'm so glad I stopped by for my last haircut. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in almost two years (during Covid) and I stopped here to see Nick. I'm so glad that I did! I was so happy with the service and for my new cut! I'd definitely come back again! read more

The moment I started going to this salon, my hair has never looked better. Nick has been styling and cutting my hair. He is very professional and extremely talented. Since I started going there, I have been getting so many compliments and when my hair looks this good, it makes me feel good. The overall vibe of this place is also very positive, you are always greeted in a welcoming manner and always getting compliments. So many people smiling, and so much talking really makes the vibe positive. I 100% recommend this salon! Nick is the best! read more

Returned for my second visit with Nick for a 7 week touch-up - amazing!!!This visit I was blessed to get an appointment with Anthony - LOVE IT! He cut and styled my hair the way I wanted it to look. Took time to ask me what I wanted, etc. etc. He's fantastic as well. Nick, besides yourself, your entire team are FANTASTIC!!!! Danielle, John the other stylists in the salon. Can't tell you what a pleasure it is to go to a business and be greeted by sincere, professional people! Not to mention how fantastic my hair looks and feels!!! Love it! See you soon! read more

They exceeded my expectations the staff was gracious amazing and customer service friendly even the owner greeted me and welcomed me to his salon and of course the best was John my stylist who colored my hair perfectly just exactly like I wanted. Nick and his team are amazing. I am a 58 years old man with 90% completely white hair. Nick took a look at my hair and in five seconds came up with a plan for adding back color in a completely natural way. My son didn't even realize I had done anything at all when I got home, it is that subtle and natural looking. By matching my remaining color, Nick was able to impart that to my white hair, in a completely gentle way, not overdone at all. Nick is an artist, in the truest sense of the word. If you're a guy, on the fence about having color added to your hair, give Nick a call, he'll do right by you. I can't recommend Salon Maffei enough, excellent service in a beautiful, comfortable environment. A+++ read more

I've gone to Salon Maffei twice now for a hair cut and dye job, and it is now my go-to place for "big jobs". I'd recommend not going here if you just want a trim or something (as it is fairly expensive), but if you're looking for an awesome new cut and/or a high-quality dye job or highlights or ombre technique, Salon Maffei is the way to go. Seriously, there is none better. The staff is great and supportive - and really intelligent about their jobs. I have been talked out of dying my hair colors which would have completely washed out my skin many a time by the foresight of the staff. You'll be in good hands with Salon Maffei! read more

It took me years to find a colorist in the area that does what Carmella can do! She is so kind, warm, talented, and passionate about what she does and it shows in her approach to her work and the results! I just really love this salon. Not only is the staff talented and warm, it clearly is the vibe at this place, the owner, Nick couldn't be more kind. He treats you like you are old friends. And they all treat you like they GET IT - your hair is important and you want to walk out of their looking like how you envisioned, and they make that happen for you. As far as being sanitized and clean, and covid precautions, they go above and beyond. I don't eat indoors in restaurants or go to nail salons since the cases started going up again, and I feel 100% safe here. Everything is sanitized between uses- both sprayed & wiped down AND UV sanitizer on top of that, everyone is masked, chairs are separated and there are partitions between the sinks, not one detail is over looked. Not only that but they regularly send emails to clients notifying them of new safety measures. All the safety and sanitizing measures are in place and the staff are really diligent upholding all of it. I actually don't want people to know how good this place is because then I will have to make my appointments longer in advance BUT I have to give them the biggest shout out. This place is a gem, the owner and staff are freaking awesome - so down to earth, talented, and kind - they just get it, you want to look good and they want to make that happen for you. I love this place, and I'm really picky. read more

Been going to Briana for hair color and cuts for the last year! She's amazing and super personable. highly recommend!

I visited on a Saturday at lunch time, before a wedding in Tarrytown. The salon is beautiful, clean, and the employees are very friendly and inviting. My appointment was for a blowout with Briana, and started with a relaxing wash & scalp massage. Briana did an amazing job with my hair and the pin curls she set stayed in all night, even on a rainy, humid day. I imagine it would have been even better had the weather cooperated! She was very sweet, friendly, and above all - a true professional who genuinely cared about doing a good job. I wish I lived closer so I could come back more often. Do yourself a favor and skip the blow out bars in the neighborhood, come here & book a service with Briana - you won't regret it. read more

I have been enjoying the talents and services of Saloon Maffei for more than ten years. Comfortable, friendly atmosphere with exceptionally talented stylists and colorists. What a lovely experience! I'm a sucker for décor and that piano in the front of the store was such a nice touch. When I arrived at the salon I was welcomed with a friendly staff and beautiful ambiance. Everyone seemed happy and the stylists were engaged in conversation with their clients. Let me just say I've never colored my hair - no highlights, no temporary colors - nothing! I am so glad that my first experience was here. I showed Nick what I wanted and he talked me through it. We had a chat about my vision and his so I can make sure I am comfortable and confident about the style. I don't think I've ever had such a good time in the salon. Nick was friendly and he explained things every step of the way. I asked about products and best practices and he was very patient explaining things. Special shout out to the lady who helped Nick - sorry I can't recall her name. When I was done my sister couldn't stop saying I'm coming here next time. Thank you again. I'll be back soon! read more

This salon is amazing. I came in with bright turquoise hair looking to get it to a dark brown for a wedding. Davide worked his magic, keeping it cost efficient for me. I walked out with an absolutely beautiful head of dark brown hair, with gorgeous red tones, especially noticeable in the sun. The salon itself is really nice, very clean, all of the staff is supportive of each other. There's definitely a family atmosphere in there. They offer drinks and light snacks when you first walk in and while you're processing. I've had great experiences there with both cut and color. Highly recommend. When my favorite hair stylist *ever* moved back to the Midwest from NYC, I knew it was going to take a while to find a new hair home. In the three years since I've spent literally thousands on my hair for results that were simply mediocre. That all changed today with my visit to Stephanie at Salon Maffei. For months now, I've been trying to achieve a rooted blonde, messy bob. I am naturally dark blonde, so this shouldn't be too challenging to achieve, yet today is the first time it happened! I always come prepared with realistic photos of what I'm trying to achieve, yet I've had stylists tell me 'that's not what you want' (but it really is!) - and at their most hurtful - 'there's no way I can do that, your hair is too thin'. So it was with trepidation that I arrived in Stephanie's chair this morning. I had done my research on her, followed her work on IG. I felt I was in capable hands, but a new color stylist is kind of like a first date except they can totally jack up your hair. Stephanie immediately put me at ease. She is friendly, professional and focused, and was the first stylist in years to confidently say 'yes we can do this style'. I was elated. Her work is meticulous. I am pretty sure I only booked enough time for a root touch up, highlights, and cut- but she took 4 hours (!) to expertly replace my grey roots and brassy highlights with a beautifully rooted ashy blonde. Without taking much off the length she managed to cut in blended, playful layers that enhance the color. And throughout those four hours she was supported by a friendly salon team who were there to help hand off foils, wash heads, or prep clients for color. The salon is very busy (a good thing!) but there was always someone helping and assisting - and doing it with a smile. I am thrilled with my hair, and enjoyed my time at the salon. A win-win. Already looking forward to my next visit. read more

LISTEN LADIES, if you want something done right go here !Get someone who knows what they are doing . It will save you money and time bc you won't have spent time undoing or doing over what could of been done right in the first place My hair woes started when i went to a salon down the street from for a deep conditioning treatment. I left here with ORANGE old lady hair and non stop tears. So a friend recommended a lady who apparently did hair for vogue magazine (haha) to fix the problem WELL she increased my hair problem .. It became straw and brassy! At this point i wanted to do a britney spears and shave it all off . THEN i was referred to NICK and he saved my life . He worked his magic and fixed my disaster and I even fell in love with my hair again. It was soft and manageable plus it was so close to my natural hair color , i couldn't believe it ! Although he is on the expensive side , I wouldn't trade him for anything . I spent so much time trying to fix a disaster and wiping tears that if i went to him in the first place , i would have saved money and kleenex. LOVE , LOVE , LOVE him and his staff . well worth the visit ! read more

I came across this salon from a Groupon offer for a wash, cut and style. I am very impressed by both the service and result! My stylist was Melody and I was very pleased by her skills. She was very experienced and was extremely nice. She also took the time to walk me through the cut explaining everything she did and teaching me various ways to style and maintain the style. She gave great suggestions with valid reasoning and took her time to pay special attention and detail to the cut. You don't always get stylists like that, so I really appreciated it. My groupon was $40 for an $80 cut. I'm typically the kind of girl who will get cheap trims at Supercuts for $8 (converted due to years of mediocre service at luxury salons) so I thought this was a little on the pricey side at original cost, but I was very happy at the end. I plan on returning! read more

AMAZING!! I have been to many salons before and never have I been this happy with my hair color. Thanks to the amazing Rosa Russo! I was shocked how my hair went from almost black previously dyed hair to a golden/honey blonde in 1 session! She made sure the whole time to not damage my hair at all, and it wasn't. My hair felt so soft after she blew it out! I had a bombré (balayage ombre) and she blended it perfectly (no other stylist I've gone to was even close to being capable of doing it as good as she did) no harsh lines and I even looked through my hair to see if there was any uneven spots and nope nothing! I received so many compliments on my hair! She is now my new permanent hair colorist. I have found the one! read more

I just got home from Salon Maffei and I'm still in awe from the haircut , color and service I received today. My mom and sister sent me to Nick as a gift for Mothers Day and I couldn't be happier I went to him. From the minute I walked in I was greeted with smiles. What a wonderful atmosphere. Every staff member in this salon is happy, friendly, professional and absolutely beautiful. I got a cut and color. I think I cut off about 13 inches of hair today and that is not something you would just trust anyone with. My color is perfect!!!! After letting Nick handle my hair, I will never go to anyone else. Nick you are awesome!!! Talk about knowing what you are doing. I think this man could have cut my hair with his eyes closed. I went in with an idea of what I wanted and left with something above and beyond what I could have imagined. And my eyebrows have ever looked better. I had the threaded after my hair was done and they look amazing! I feel wonderful right now!!!! You can and will not be disappointed if you trust this salon with your hair. This was honestly the best experience of my life. read more

I am a client of Rosa Russo's at Salon Maffei. Rosa is absolutely amazing at doing both hair and make-up. She knows exactly how to make you look and feel gorgeous and can do any look for both hair and make-up. My hair came out amazing after she colored and cut it! It was exactly what I wanted. It's hard to find a good stylist in Westchester. As far as make-up application, she is nothing short of phenomenal! My face and eyes looked amazing. I truly felt like glamourous. I'm not one to typically write reviews of businesses, but I wanted to share how pleased I was with Salon Maffei: specifically the attention and customer service of the salon and especially Nick, the owner. When I left my appointment for color, I was pleased at what had been done, but was hoping to make an adjustment based on some subtlety that I'd asked for. I hesitated to call and when I did, I was welcomed warmly back, and Nick insisted to see me. It's beyond clear that he values his relationships with his clients. I was stunned that he took the time to stay a few hours past the salon's closing time to ensure that he finished the adjustment I was hoping to make. He won't let you leave the business until you're 100% satisfied. I think we can all agree that hair is a fickle thing and sometimes--even if we're initially pleased with the result--there's a vision in our heads that it only hit 95% on. Nick & Salon Maffei will work to make sure that extra 5% is taken care of. You can rest assured that you'll be heard, taken care of, and made to feel special here. read more

I had my first visit here with Melody to fix my hair color from another salon. She did an awesome job of listening to what I wanted and she delivered. Thank you again and I will be back. This is my new salon for my haircuts and color. Melody was awesome!! read more

I have been part of the salon Maffei familia for over fifteen years. I find it difficult to express how I feel about this marriage ! Because you know folks it is a marriage ! However unlike a marriage there aren't any high and lows . The salon experience is a finely tuned orchestra from the moment you book your appointment! Teresa is the conductor! She will make certain without fail to accommodate you anyway she can . I so appreciate her . Let's face it folks the front desk is the heart beat of any business . The staff which includes the stylists and those that wash hair are indeed talented creative artists ! The entire experience from beginning to end has a rhythm. In fifteen years I have never felt rushed or pressured. This includes my most recent cut and color in the wake of COVID. Nick has prepared the salon to make absolutely certain in this time of uncertainty your well being is paramount! Every precaution has been taken into consideration by Nick and staff without sacrificing the comfort of his clients . That all aside my cut and color by Nick just stunning ! Thank you ! So come on in ! This is a five star experience ! It is the fine dining of hair ! Best of luck everyone . So happy you are back . read more

Ok, I had a chance to go back and have a cut and color with Nick, who is the owner of the salon. My second experience at the salon was a huge improvement over my first visit. I was greeted warmly, offered coffee, and didn't have to wait for my appointment. The woman who washed and combed my hair was gentle and checked to make sure the temperature of the water was comfortable. She even asked if I prefer conditioner all over or just on the ends--a small touch that I appreciated. Nick and i discussed my visions for color and cut before getting started. The color he chose was very complementary to my skin and eyes--a definite keeper. He attempted to fix the mangled cut I had received almost 2 months earlier. It wasn't grown in enough to fix completely, but he did blend it together nicely. Hopefully by my next cut it will have grown in enough to wear down again (as opposed to the ponytail/bun I've been sporting for 2 months to hide the uneven, choppy layers). Rating the salon based on these two very different experiences has been tough. Based on the second experience, I would definitely go back--but only for an appointment with Nick. I can't speak to the quality of the other stylists there (aside from Lia, who I don't recommend), but I do appreciate the good customer service on the part of the owner and the willingness to make my experience there a good one. read more

I've been cutting my hair with Nick since I was around 13-14 years old, I am now 22 years old and every time he's not available to cut hair and I go to another salon someone ALWAYS messes it up... Not Nick... He always knows if I got a haircut somewhere else because HE KNOWS how to cut hair. He's done everything to really short hair to medium short hair, he's turned my hair into red, purple, white, silver, blonde you name it... Every time I go to Maffei is the same experience, I get my coffee or tea, and I sit down to have a great experience. The price range for haircuts vary depending on what you'll get. Just a reminder, expect to pay more than a hundred, this is a hair salon with knowledgeable hairdressers so it ain't cheap. The hairdressers here ask you what you want, give you options, and are very open minded. I have had different hairstylists cut my hair and they've all done a really amazing job. Also, sometimes Nick goes to play piano in front of the salon and it is just fantastic to get a chance to hear him play! I really wish I could see him play often but if you ever get to see him it's amazing! Anyways, from all my years of experience Maffei salon has never EVER disappointed me, and I can definitely assure you that there's no place in White Plains that can be as good as this. read more

This place is GREAT!!! I can't stress that more.... I went there for a color and blow out for the first time and besides the staff being so warm and friendly, the color and blowout by Stephanie were amazing... and I had the best shampoo I've had in a while... the girl took her time and gave me a wonderful scalp massage....and let me tell you... when it comes to my hair...I am generally a pain-in-the -ass customer... never happy... Just got the best haircut I've had in years from Melody ! Its always intimidating going to a new salon, but from start to finish, the team at Salon Maffei absolutely blew me away with their excellent customer service, approachability, and wealth of knowledge. I was searching for a new stylist and was feeling pretty self conscious about the state of my hair. I really appreciated that the receptionist asked me about my hair style and texture on the phone when deciding who to schedule me with. I was VERY lucky to be scheduled with Melody, and right away I knew I was in good hands. She was so easy to talk to and kind. I felt she was the most knowledgeable stylist I had ever worked with, I learned a lot about my hair while sitting in her chair! Melody really listened to what I wanted while also guiding me to a better style for my hair. I was also totally charmed by her, she is truly kind and knows how to make her clients feel important! By the end of the appointment, I was so excited about my new style and felt amazing walking out the door with a perfect blow out and curl. Can't wait to go back to Melody for my next cut! read more

I am a regular visitor to White Plains (home is in Atlanta) and really needed a cut and highlights. Luckily I scored a last minute color (which turned into a corrective color) with Nick and a cut with Patty. Three hours later I emerged a new woman with a much more natural color and a very easy to fix cut. Overall I am thrilled with the results and plan to make this my new salon. Also, Patty gave me a great hug before I left which I thought was pretty cool. The only con is this place is not for someone on a budget. Luckily I subscribe to the "you get what you pay for" school of thought! read more

Melody is by far the BEST hair stylist I have ever had. I've gotten my hair cut in throughout famous salons worldwide, including Manhattan, Connecticut, and even Milano, Italy... Melody by farrrr tops every stylist I've ever been to. She is the only person I trust to style my hair (which is very very thick). I also referred my friends, sister and mother to go to her, and they are all obsessed with her work. Melody is truly the best stylist. I'd recommend her to anyone with any hair type. She has also educated me so much about how to care for my hair (& She is also the nicest, most welcoming person ever). read more

I have been going to Salon Maffei, for now, two years and every time I leave the salon I am stunned by Carmella and her coloring and blowouts. Let's start with the salon itself, the salon is beautiful and so clean. The staff up front are so accommodating and friendly and you are always greeted with a smile upon walking in. I also love that the front desk girls make a note to remember your name and always ask how I am doing which I appreciate a lot. Jaz who washes my hair is amazing and a breath of fresh air. My hair is very thick and curly and for many of us who have this type of hair its hard to find someone who knows how to blow-dry such curly hair without pulling hard but Carmella is able to blow out my hair without pulling and is able to achieve a beautiful blowout. When first telling Carmella I wanted to go blonde she told me its a process and her number one priority was to make sure my hair was healthy and blond is not achieved in one sitting but instead its a process because my hair is so dark. I appreciated not only the honesty but the fact that it shows how much she cared for her clients. Every time I leave the salon my hair looks beautiful and I'm so thankful to Carmella and the entire salon Maffei staff for everything they do to make sure my experience is amazing. Below I have attached my before, the second is my hair after the first time dying, the second photo is the second time I have come in and the third is the third time coming in! read more

I have had a few occasions where I needed my makeup done and Rosa is amazing she made me feel super sexy. I walk into the salon looking plain and left looking like a hottie! Who doesn't want that? She has also done my hair and the color matched exactly. I highly recommend Salon Maffei you will not be disappointed. Everyone here knows their craft!! read more

The arrogance of Nick. I replied once before after he responded saying I know who you are. Sadly enough, I am not that person nor am I the disgruntled person who did not get a job with him. I am in fact a disgruntled client. The nerve to charge me almost $300 after leaving me in a chair for several hours to correct his staff's incompetence not to mention the pain endured from the correction. Perhaps, Nick may want to show some humility and own his own blunders as a salon owner and that of his staff!" read more
