I had a GREAT experience at Salon Maffei this morning and the days leading up to my appointment. I am 9 months pregnant and wanted to get a smoothing or keratin type treatment, as well as color and cut, and John was able to fit me in early so that I could do all of the treatments I wanted. He also was completely upfront about the cost which I really appreciated because sometimes you do these things and they end up charging you more because of something you "needed" on top of the treatment. I've grown to expect that at salons but this was different and refreshing! Donna did my Magic Sleek treatment as well as cut and color and did an incredible job. I could not be happier with the results and while getting all of this done was a long process, she explained everything every step of the way and was so lovely to talk to. For someone who is very pregnant, this salon was incredibly accommodating and kind (Plus, I could not have picked a better place to experience my first earthquake!) This is my third time returning to Nick for my hair color and cut. I have extremely short hair with foils that Nick has done perfectly every time. He likes to remind me that it is not easy to do foils on such short hair, but he always does an amazing job. He is, as far as I'm concerned, the best in the business. Nick and his team are amazing. I am a 58 years old man with 90% completely white hair. Nick took a look at my hair and in five seconds came up with a plan for adding back color in a completely natural way. My son didn't even realize I had done anything at all when I got home, it is that subtle and natural looking. By matching my remaining color, Nick was able to impart that to my white hair, in a completely gentle way, not overdone at all. Nick is an artist, in the truest sense of the word. It took me years to find a colorist in the area that does what Carmella can do! She is so kind, warm, talented, and passionate about what she does and it shows in her approach to her work and the results! I just really love this salon. Not only is the staff talented and warm, it clearly is the vibe at this place, the owner, Nick couldn't be more kind. He treats you like you are old friends. And they all treat you like they GET IT - your hair is important and you want to walk out of their looking like how you envisioned, and they make that happen for you. As far as being sanitized and clean, and covid precautions, they go above and beyond. I don't eat indoors in restaurants or go to nail salons since the cases started going up again, and I feel 100% safe here. Everything is sanitized between uses- both sprayed & wiped down AND UV sanitizer on top of that, everyone is masked, chairs are separated and there are partitions between the sinks, not one detail is over looked. Not only that but they regularly send emails to clients notifying them of new safety measures. All the safety and sanitizing measures are in place and the staff are really diligent upholding all of it. I actually don't want people to know how good this place is because then I will have to make my appointments longer in advance BUT I have to give them the biggest shout out. This place is a gem, the owner and staff are freaking awesome - so down to earth, talented, and kind - they just get it, you want to look good and they want to make that happen for you. I visited on a Saturday at lunch time, before a wedding in Tarrytown. The salon is beautiful, clean, and the employees are very friendly and inviting. My appointment was for a blowout with Briana, and started with a relaxing wash & scalp massage. Briana did an amazing job with my hair and the pin curls she set stayed in all night, even on a rainy, humid day. I imagine it would have been even better had the weather cooperated! She was very sweet, friendly, and above all - a true professional who genuinely cared about doing a good job. I wish I lived closer so I could come back more often. What a lovely experience! I'm a sucker for décor and that piano in the front of the store was such a nice touch. When I arrived at the salon I was welcomed with a friendly staff and beautiful ambiance. Everyone seemed happy and the stylists were engaged in conversation with their clients. Let me just say I've never colored my hair - no highlights, no temporary colors - nothing! I am so glad that my first experience was here. I showed Nick what I wanted and he talked me through it. This salon is amazing. I came in with bright turquoise hair looking to get it to a dark brown for a wedding. Davide worked his magic, keeping it cost efficient for me. I walked out with an absolutely beautiful head of dark brown hair, with gorgeous red tones, especially noticeable in the sun. The salon itself is really nice, very clean, all of the staff is supportive of each other. There's definitely a family atmosphere in there. They offer drinks and light snacks when you first walk in and while you're processing. I've had great experiences there with both cut and color. Highly recommend. When my favorite hair stylist *ever* moved back to the Midwest from NYC, I knew it was going to take a while to find a new hair home. In the three years since I've spent literally thousands on my hair for results that were simply mediocre. That all changed today with my visit to Stephanie at Salon Maffei. For months now, I've been trying to achieve a rooted blonde, messy bob. I am naturally dark blonde, so this shouldn't be too challenging to achieve, yet today is the first time it happened! I always come prepared with realistic photos of what I'm trying to achieve, yet I've had stylists tell me 'that's not what you want' (but it really is!) - and at their most hurtful - 'there's no way I can do that, your hair is too thin'. So it was with trepidation that I arrived in Stephanie's chair this morning. I had done my research on her, followed her work on IG. I felt I was in capable hands, but a new color stylist is kind of like a first date except they can totally jack up your hair. Stephanie immediately put me at ease. She is friendly, professional and focused, and was the first stylist in years to confidently say 'yes we can do this style'. I was elated. Her work is meticulous. I am pretty sure I only booked enough time for a root touch up, highlights, and cut- but she took 4 hours (!) to expertly replace my grey roots and brassy highlights with a beautifully rooted ashy blonde. Without taking much off the length she managed to cut in blended, playful layers that enhance the color. And throughout those four hours she was supported by a friendly salon team who were there to help hand off foils, wash heads, or prep clients for color. The salon is very busy (a good thing!) but there was always someone helping and assisting - and doing it with a smile. I am thrilled with my hair, and enjoyed my time at the salon. A win-win. It will save you money and time bc you won't have spent time undoing or doing over what could of been done right in the first place My hair woes started when i went to a salon down the street from for a deep conditioning treatment. I left here with ORANGE old lady hair and non stop tears. So a friend recommended a lady who apparently did hair for vogue magazine (haha) to fix the problem WELL she increased my hair problem .. I came across this salon from a Groupon offer for a wash, cut and style. I am very impressed by both the service and result! My stylist was Melody and I was very pleased by her skills. She was very experienced and was extremely nice. She also took the time to walk me through the cut explaining everything she did and teaching me various ways to style and maintain the style. She gave great suggestions with valid reasoning and took her time to pay special attention and detail to the cut. You don't always get stylists like that, so I really appreciated it. My groupon was $40 for an $80 cut. I'm typically the kind of girl who will get cheap trims at Supercuts for $8 (converted due to years of mediocre service at luxury salons) so I thought this was a little on the pricey side at original cost, but I was very happy at the end. AMAZING!! I have been to many salons before and never have I been this happy with my hair color. Thanks to the amazing Rosa Russo! I was shocked how my hair went from almost black previously dyed hair to a golden/honey blonde in 1 session! She made sure the whole time to not damage my hair at all, and it wasn't. My hair felt so soft after she blew it out! I had a bombré (balayage ombre) and she blended it perfectly (no other stylist I've gone to was even close to being capable of doing it as good as she did) no harsh lines and I even looked through my hair to see if there was any uneven spots and nope nothing! When I left my appointment for color, I was pleased at what had been done, but was hoping to make an adjustment based on some subtlety that I'd asked for. I hesitated to call and when I did, I was welcomed warmly back, and Nick insisted to see me. It's beyond clear that he values his relationships with his clients. I was stunned that he took the time to stay a few hours past the salon's closing time to ensure that he finished the adjustment I was hoping to make. He won't let you leave the business until you're 100% satisfied. I think we can all agree that hair is a fickle thing and sometimes--even if we're initially pleased with the result--there's a vision in our heads that it only hit 95% on. Ok, I had a chance to go back and have a cut and color with Nick, who is the owner of the salon. My second experience at the salon was a huge improvement over my first visit. I was greeted warmly, offered coffee, and didn't have to wait for my appointment. The woman who washed and combed my hair was gentle and checked to make sure the temperature of the water was comfortable. She even asked if I prefer conditioner all over or just on the ends--a small touch that I appreciated. Nick and i discussed my visions for color and cut before getting started. The color he chose was very complementary to my skin and eyes--a definite keeper. He attempted to fix the mangled cut I had received almost 2 months earlier. It wasn't grown in enough to fix completely, but he did blend it together nicely. Hopefully by my next cut it will have grown in enough to wear down again (as opposed to the ponytail/bun I've been sporting for 2 months to hide the uneven, choppy layers). Rating the salon based on these two very different experiences has been tough. Based on the second experience, I would definitely go back--but only for an appointment with Nick. I can't speak to the quality of the other stylists there (aside from Lia, who I don't recommend), but I do appreciate the good customer service on the part of the owner and the willingness to make my experience there a good one. read more

Melody is by far the BEST hair stylist I have ever had. I've gotten my hair cut in throughout famous salons worldwide, including Manhattan, Connecticut, and even Milano, Italy... Melody by farrrr tops every stylist I've ever been to. She is the only person I trust to style my hair (which is very very thick). I've been cutting my hair with Nick since I was around 13-14 years old, I am now 22 years old and every time he's not available to cut hair and I go to another salon someone ALWAYS messes it up... Not Nick... He always knows if I got a haircut somewhere else because HE KNOWS how to cut hair. He's done everything to really short hair to medium short hair, he's turned my hair into red, purple, white, silver, blonde you name it... Every time I go to Maffei is the same experience, I get my coffee or tea, and I sit down to have a great experience. The price range for haircuts vary depending on what you'll get. Just a reminder, expect to pay more than a hundred, this is a hair salon with knowledgeable hairdressers so it ain't cheap. The hairdressers here ask you what you want, give you options, and are very open minded. I have had different hairstylists cut my hair and they've all done a really amazing job. Also, sometimes Nick goes to play piano in front of the salon and it is just fantastic to get a chance to hear him play! I really wish I could see him play often but if you ever get to see him it's amazing! Anyways, from all my years of experience Maffei salon has never EVER disappointed me, and I can definitely assure you that there's no place in White Plains that can be as good as this. read more

I have been going to Salon Maffei, for now, two years and every time I leave the salon I am stunned by Carmella and her coloring and blowouts. Let's start with the salon itself, the salon is beautiful and so clean. The staff up front are so accommodating and friendly and you are always greeted with a smile upon walking in. I also love that the front desk girls make a note to remember your name and always ask how I am doing which I appreciate a lot. Jaz who washes my hair is amazing and a breath of fresh air. My hair is very thick and curly and for many of us who have this type of hair its hard to find someone who knows how to blow-dry such curly hair without pulling hard but Carmella is able to blow out my hair without pulling and is able to achieve a beautiful blowout. When first telling Carmella I wanted to go blonde she told me its a process and her number one priority was to make sure my hair was healthy and blond is not achieved in one sitting but instead its a process because my hair is so dark. I appreciated not only the honesty but the fact that it shows how much she cared for her clients. Every time I leave the salon my hair looks beautiful and I'm so thankful to Carmella and the entire salon Maffei staff for everything they do to make sure my experience is amazing. Carmela has been coloring and styling my hair for close to 10 yrs. She always makes my hair color look flawless. We are always changing up the cut she is not afraid to take chances with my hair. I totally trust her I have never had a bad experience at Salon Maffei the staff is always friendly and accomodating. Ronnie, who works the front will always try to get you in when you need to be touched up so you always look fabulous. Melody is also great for touch ups and blowouts.
