I just noticed it's been 10 years since my last review of this salon! I am thankful that my previous review still stands. Paul is my colorist who is an absolute genius in his profession.He will occasionally change the base color of my highlighted hair based on my skin coloring and the season. Monica is an amazing hairstylist that always asks "what are we doing today?" if it's just a clean up or a new style it is always a discussion and suggestions if necessary. I recently wanted to go short and Monica made me find a picture so we could discuss it to make sure that is what I wanted and it is perfect.I constantly get compliments on my cut and color. I have several friends who go to other stylists at the salon and everyone is happy.The salon is aesthetically pleasing, the staff is warm and friendly and it's like a family atmosphere. I highly recommend this salon over some "celebrity" salons where I left with the wrong cut or color. read more

Paul was able to color my hair so the gray vanished completely, for once, and also blend it into the old growth. Then Pina cut and styled my hair so beautifully. What's a girl to do to tame her curls? I used to purchase all my Aveda hair products monthly, at The Westchester, but they've since shut down their Aveda store a few years now. I do want to make something clear that my review, is solely based (for now) on my quickie ins and outs to purchase my Aveda products-and not, when I style my hair there. Without considering anything else, Evangelista Hair Salon is cute and posh. They are a retailer, carrying a great amount of what you'd see at an Aveda store or salon. Obviously, they see the need to target women with different hair types or they would not carry Aveda's products. Although I've yet to style my hair at Evangelista Hair Salon, I will admit that, while I'm making my quickie Be Curly hair product pick ups, stylists, all seem as they are going the extra mile to satisfy their customers hairstyling needs. I never ever write reviews but I had to on this place because they are HORRIBLE. I went here on a whim because I moved towns and I wanted to find a new place. They had given me Monica I believe her name was. Older lady, Curly blonde hair, and a tan. I should have ran away just then because u know when u can look at a person and just get a bad feeling they don't know what they are doing? I asked for more highlights on top of the ones I had before but a lot lighter and blonder. Anyway I get in the chair and started a half head highlights and first off she took the brush and didn't even start highlighting near the scalp at the top it looked like my hair was still gown out. She brushed the color but not even to the ends like she just rolled it all up in the tin thinking it would blend? I mentioned it right then and still assured me she knew what she was doing. Anyway she left me there for no longer than a half hour( which we all know for highlights you need quite a bit of time to set in) then started me up at the washing station. Didn't even do the toner to blend everything together and needless to say it all came out horribly wrong. Nothing came out like the picture and after paying almost 200$ I complained. They said they would book me another appointment free of charge the next week. The next week I go in and I don't know how but it actually looked worse and even darker then how I even originally had it. Just horrible don't go there. If I could give no stars I would. read more

My stylist is Claver she is amazing! She takes the time to look and decide what is most healthy, safe and proper for my hair. She talks to me and we come to a decision that suits both of us. Sometimes I have an idea of what may work but then she explains why an alternative is best. I have those pesty greys and long hair but thinning at the same time. She recommends the right color to cover those greys and also gives my hair a treatment during the wash. I couldn't ask for more. Looking forward to new highlights which may also help blend the greys. Go see Claver she is worth every penny. I also have to give a shout out to the rest of the staff who are incredibly friendly and helpful. I came here because of the great reviews. I have blond hair that is naturally very light on the top and gets darker as you go towards the neck. I explained this to the hair dresser and she said she understood and will ensure it is even. I didn't notice till I got home that the back of my head looks like it did before I got my roots done! The dye was not long enough. I'm sure the hair dresser noticed and she blow dried my hair and paid extra attention to blowing out the back. She had to have noticed and not said anything. I would rather her say something and fix it. Would have been happy to stay longer. It happens. But this is just ridiculous read more

Maxine B. Peter cut my hair today. It was the first time I have ever been in the shop. The cut is wonderful and I will certainly make this shop my go to! I also so much appreciate that he advised me about the 3% discount for cash or check payment vs. a credit card. Not knowing that in advance, I only brought a credit card. Claver is an expert at what she does. I had my hair done once by her, and it grew out better than any haircut ever has. The highlights and color was done very smoothly where it looked so natural instead of streaky. The next time I went to see a friend in my area because it was more convenient which was a big mistake. I had to make an emergency appointment with Claver to fix that haircut. She was so nice kind and fit me in within just a couple of days. She even took off $20 just for being her loyal customer. The main thing I liked about my haircut was the shape and layers. She layered is appropriately to make my curls look fuller and lay nicely while wearing it in any style. For about 3 years prior I never wore my hair down because it looked stringy and flipped out in weird directions and just had split ends no matter what I did. Now I wear my hair down the most I have ever in my life! It looks full and beautiful and everyone compliments it, and I feel so pretty. Thank you Claver Romero.
