I've brought my boyfriend's mom (87 - thin short hair) to this salon, and a long time friend (75 with thick lush shoulder length silver hair). From Lisa at the reception station to the women who shampoo, lip wax, cut and color - everyone was very sweet and caring with these two precious people in my life. Francesca is an exceptional stylist and colorist - a true professional. She asks questions not only about your preferences for length and color, yet also about your lifestyle; carefully listening to understand how much time you have each day to care for your hair. She has a very keen sense of identifying the shape that will work best to highlight your face and fall beautifully all over your head (even when one side wants to flip up and the other side under, along with a couple of cowlicks to deal with!). The color she blends (I call her the magician) is exactly my color when I was a little girl, so it looks very natural. In the winter she warms it up a bit and highlights it for a natural summer look. For lip waxings, you could not find a more friendly and meticulous esthetician than Megan. My skin is ivory and very sensitive. It can easily turn a bright lasting red if a waxing is done without pre and post care. Megan also carefully reviews the skin after waxing for any stray hairs that require individual removal (some places just continue waxing over and over, which aggravates the skin). The fee structure for all services is also very reasonable. Overall, this salon does not disappoint and when possible, can accommodate that occasional same day service when something special comes up and you want to look your best.

Me, my two sisters, and my dad have all gone to her, and she has always done a great job. The salon is right next to the high school, which is really convenient because you can even walk there after school. She can do a lot of different things. She usually cuts and layers my hair, and she dyes my sister's hair too. For my hair, it is only around $30, which is a really good price. Brandy is super nice, and so are the other girls who work in the salon. The place also has a cute little rescue dog that is really friendly, which makes going there even more fun. They even have a little playroom for younger kids if their parents are getting their hair done. I have always had a good experience there, and I really appreciate how kind and patient she has been with my family over the years. Overall, I would give Brandy at The Avenue Salon 5/5 stars.

Had an extremely uncomfortable experience with the new hairstylist Liz. To the point I cut the…read moreappointment short, paid, thanked her for the trim and left to another salon to finish my service. It felt like she was upset with me from the beginning and the more I opened my mouth the more upset she became. She was extremely rude and rough with me, when I asked about her commission she'd earn for the service, out of curiosity but also because I worked in a dog grooming salon before and understand the grind/want to support other salon workers by tipping well. She told me she was uncomfortable answering which I apologized for making her uncomfortable and remained silent. But after that she would roughly pull my hair and demand what I wanted in a very curt manner. I asked for her advice for an alternative when she told me the hairstyle I wanted wouldn't suit me, but instead of offering one she just kept asking me to tell her what I wanted very angrily. I normally am not talkative as I am very shy and anxious, but I wanted to get out of my shell and practice my English and my social skills, and was very upset with the reaction I was met with. It was not my intention to insult or offend the stylist, but I don't believe that was a mature or professional way to respond to an innocent question, which i apologized for asking. There was no need to be rough with me. I still paid the full price of $85 despite leaving looking like a mess and without the hairstyle I wanted and specifically went to this stylist to receive, only got my hair washed and a trim on my edges. I was going to let it go as the stylist told me she'd just started a couple weeks ago and I understand everyone has hard days, but the salon made an instagram post the day after about "being besties with your stylist is the best" and prioritizing making a safe space for clients. it upsets me seeing posts like this when I had to go to the salon across the street due to how antagonistic Liz was. I just wanted a hush cut dawg go across the street or avoid booking with @cozarthair on ig. Big shame because she's clearly very talented.
