I love my hair, thanks to Vardan! He gave me a superb haircut--exactly what I wanted. I also got a…read moretouch-up and partial highlights, and he exceeded my expectations. Before coming to Vardan, I used to go to a very good hairstylist at Mario Tricoci - Old Orchard, but it was far. Since my sister and two of my friends are happy clients of Vardan, I decided to make an appointment with him. It was a great decision--he gave me an even better haircut than I used to get at Mario Tricoci, and for a lower price ($110 for a haircut there). His skill and attention to detail truly stand out. The salon carries a wide variety of Aveda products. Before this, I had no idea Aveda had a skincare line! I ended up buying an exfoliating treatment and hope it works well for me. Highly recommend!

How is it that no one has written about the Lather on Montrose? You know, the one that's oh-so…read moreconveniently located fifteen paces away from the Montrose El stop? Yes, that one. It's fantastic. This salon is like my Truvy's Beauty Parlor, from "Steel Magnolias". Except the owner has considerably smaller breasts than Dolly Parton and nobody talks with a Southern drawl. I love coming here. I don't have a "regular" stylist because I trust them all. The staff is fun and friendly, the prices are fairly reasonable and I can get my bangs trimmed for FREE. You can too. I love coming here for more than the haircuts, though. I like to stop in for a hearty dose of personality. This staff could be on a reality show, they're so entertaining. I haven't been to the Damen location, but if the same stylists work there, then you know what I'm talking about. For those who haven't been to Lather, get yourselves a haircut. You won't be sorry.

There was no timer set for the actual time the Keratin was in my hair. Most of it was just flat ironing my hair. So my hair is straight now but will it be tomorrow? I know that is was Express Keratin treatment but I think that the Keratin should have been left a little longer in the hair. Everyone at the salon is really really nice but the decor of it is little drab if not plain: white walls, black mirrors and nothing else. I am really torn about Lather on Montrose. I really love the people, I hate the decor and I am not sure about the whole Keratin procedure. If anything it was a fun experience.

I received an extremely harsh, unflattering haircut yesterday with short layers everywhere. The…read morecut isn't flattering for my bone structure or my hair texture. Yesterday I walked in here with high hopes based on the positive feedback I received from a woman who had just received a cut for her and her daughter. I walked in without any appointment and Joachim examined and scrutinized my hair that had been cut into a soft, texturized shag. He was very eager to critique the other person's work and he decided to take a full inch off and then without hesitation claimed he would add "body" to my hair by cutting in short layers. He dug into my hair without considering my long-term goals of having a longer hairstyle. He actually removed my natural body by introducing all these shorter layers and said I'd like my hair by next year! Obviously I took a shower to to see how my natural texture looks curly because he blew my hair out straight. When I wet my hair I instantly felt he had removed way too much weight and body with these short layers. I was patient and let it air dry and my hair just doesn't look flattering from any angle. It looks harsh without any roundness or softness. I'm not sure what his logic was but I'm very unhappy that he rushed me into a cut that won't grow out nicely. I don't understand why most stylist don't understand the nature of curly wavy hair but I look like I don't even have a style anymore. I'm extremely disappointed and let down. There was enough hair for him to work with and he gave me a very harsh style that isn't flattering for my bone structure or the texture of my hair. My hair lacks body, softness and natural movement. I'm literally not going to trim my hair for a very long time because I'm very upset right now and I try to be open minded and fair but he definitely didn't use good judgment. Oh and one last thing...I have cowlicks and waves everywhere and he strongly discouraged me from growing my hair long. He is the ONLY stylist in the city of Chicago who suggested I should never bother to grow my hair long. He also retaliated by writing me a 1 star review on my Google Business profile because he's too full of ego to admit he's made a huge mistake with my hair. I would never recommend his services to anyone
