Amazing service by Moi, he always gets the colors right! He cares about his work and cares about how you feel after! Simply amazing.

MOI is a god. Not only did he talk me out of an awful Carmel orange color for an ombré but he also spent an obscene amount of detail and patience on making my hair blend into the perfect color. He also put peekaboo highlights (terminology?) throughout so I could wear my hair down whether or not I curled it. Service was great, conversation was great, styling g was great, and the shop also smelled amazing btw. I will be back for a cut and touch up Ps - posted photos. read more

Natural Born Salon - The amazing ombré blenddone by god Moi - Hair Salons Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I came here once and had an ok experience with Lily. We scheduled my next appt 8-12 weeks out. I left work early to come to the appt and the door was locked. When Moi finally answered the phone, he said Lily doesn't work here anymore and it's weird that no one reached out to me. I didn't even receive a proper apology or accommodations for my inconvenience. Terrible way to treat new clients. read more

My hair sucks. Plain and simple. Among other things, it is straighter than an arrow and thinner than an Olson twin. For years I bounced around from barber to barber, from hair stylist to hair stylist. I even gave myself a home-styled crew cut for a solid couple of years because I so dreaded getting my hair cut. Then, a good decade ago, I stumbled into a local hair salon in my old neighborhood and sat in a chair of the first stylist to become available. As luck would have it, that stylist was Moi. I so enjoyed that first experience that I continued to go to Moi, even when he moved from that prior establishment to open his own place, Natural Born Salon. And since opening Natural Born Salon, Moi has only gotten better. Quite simply, the place oozes Moi. It is welcoming. It is stylish. And above all else, it is authentic. Natural Born Salon is not the cheapest place in town. If you want to get a $5 haircut like you would at a national chain, by all means go there. Or, come by my place and I'll take a pair of kitchen shears to you for free. The result will be the same, and you'll save yourself $5. Natural Born Salon likewise is not the priciest place in town. If you want to get a $100 haircut like you would at the trendiest spots in the city, by all means go there. Or, come by my place and I'll ignore everything you have to say, devalue your opinion and make you feel insignificant. Natural Born Salon is a small business owned and operated by a spectacular stylist, and an even better person. Someone who takes the time to learn about you just as much as he does your hair. Bring your business to Moi and you'll have a stylist, and friend, for life. read more

Moi is the first person I thought of when cutting my hair after 14 years. I wanted a new look and knew he would understand that it would be a process. He's been there for me through several iterations of hairstyles and always has been there for me and understanding in what I was going for. He also has an AMAZING girl named Ruby who is the only person I trust to handle my eyebrows in the last 2 years. Stop in and get the best work done by Moi And Ruby :) read more

I've come here twice and Trish has made a regular out of me. Had an hour long men's cut and she helped me with styling and figuring out products. The atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. Best place I've gone to in Chicago. read more

Decided it was time to move on from my barber of many years. He just wasn't cutting it :) Had Moi the owner cut my hair and he did an excellent job. My hair looked great and it grew out beautifully. Moi is a true hair stylist. read more

Thank you Yelp! I live near Natural Born Salon but had never been over there until yesterday when Ruby cut my hair. I have never gotten as many compliments and "omg where did you get your hair done?" in my life (including my wedding) as I have since then. And I LOVE it. I will definitely be back. A few things, just cause I think they're worth noting: 1. The setup for washing your hair is so comfortable - it is probably one of the more comfortable chairs I've been in for that. The chair slopes back slowly so it's not as much stress on your back and neck. Really appreciated. 2. Even if you make an appointment (and I love that you can book online), you may wind up waiting when you arrive. Everyone who came in when I was there had to wait, as did I. But they do such a good job that it's worth it. 3. The music is not like that at your traditional salon. No Enya here! We listened to everything from salsa to reggaeton to house and had a wonderful time. But if you're someone who can't function with a bass beat, this is probably not the place for you. read more

Yea, it's that good. Moi is the quintessential professional who takes his job seriously but humbly...in an industry that is anything but. He's paid his dues so to speak and has found a niche and location where comfort trumps "look at me, I cut hair at this totally awesome, fabulous location on MI Ave or similar vom worthy locale Check it out. On Western Ave, in a location where the elite would squirm and the rubes feel quite at ease...and get a cut better than anywhere in between. read more

We bought a Groupon for a men's hair cut and style in July. Scheduling is done via text. We attempted to make several appointments over 3-4 months only to have them all canceled for no reason. I suspect this business js trying to get free advertising from Groupon because they don't want to honor any appointments. In the end he kept offering us an appointment date on a date after which we told him 3 timed the Groupon would already be expired. J don't know how they stay in business with kind of nonsense. I strongly suggest to anyone who reads this not to waste their time with this place. read more

I had an appointment with Tricia for a men haircut. when I got there, a lady came to me and she told me that Tricia ask me to do your haircut, and she wasn't there! I told her that I have an important job interview in two days, and I need someone to be well experienced taking care of my hair. I also talked to Moi in private and told him that this isn't professional that your hairstylist hasn't show up. I make the long story short, I left with an UNFINISHED haircut because it was a torture and I was really pissed off, and I directly went to another salon (Studio 84one) after there. Not a nice and friendly environment, bad management, unprofessional, awful haircut, bad services. Even my shirt and undershirt got wet on my back when she washed my hair. It was a quite nightmare. I'm not a mean person at all, and I don't like mean people; However, I felt so bad for the girl because it wasn't her fault at all. She was a nice girl and she tried to do her best. It was all ***Tricia*** and the owner faults!!! It was hot and humid day; however, the AC was off!!! and, they kept the front and back door open. I don't call this place a salon. This is a pretty silly joke. This place is just a BARBER SHOP. I called "Studio 84one" a salon! https://www.yelp.com/biz/studio-84one-chicago-2 Honestly, I should NOT pay for their poor service!!! read more

Lilly did an awesome job. I was a bit apprehensive at first because she was asking a lot of questions, but the haircut turned out amazing and I would absolutely go back to NBS. read more

Moi and his staff are the best! I am always greeted at the door and taken care of until the moment I leave and I have never left unhappy with a hair cut. I could not recommend Natural Born Salon enough!! read more

I did my haircut with ruby. She's amazing and really nice. I really like the results especially my eyebrows But the owner (the guy) has attitude problems I bought coupon online I went there without making a reservation so he refused to cut my hair,I understand that is all my fault, after that I tried to call for making a reservation but he told me to do it online his tone of the voice show as annoyed. So I booked it online and show up. When I entered he gave me a really mean look for a while then he decided to say "did you make a reservation?". I would give this place 5 star but I'm taking one off because of purely the owner attitudes. I definitely will go again because of ruby but hopefully the owner's attitude improve. read more

My experience for a full hour-lite and cut, with Moi, was undoubtedly the best I could ever hope for. Moi is a true professional in every sense of the word. He listened to my preferences, suggested where need be and provided not only a fantastic service but provided a wonderful experience in a relaxed environment. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable as well! Thank you all, and special thanks to Moi! read more

Natural Born Salon is ahead of the game. The reservation process is simple and user friendly. The reminder text messages are super convenient. The checkout process is simplistic and takes seconds to checkout. The staff is awesome, which includes Louie, the most adorable dog alive. I love the collaboration between the stylists to understand and prescribe the best solution for your hair needs. They are true to their customers and deliver. I highly recommend Natural Born Salon. I appreciate and thank everyone at Natural Born Salon...especially Louie, the dog. read more

My experience didn't go so well, my haircut was kinda below my average haircuts as my workmates said it looks ugly, bought Groupon based on the reviews, when I was calling to make reservation I was told I can't have the owner to cut my hair, so I went with the girl who was on the phone. The worst part was that It hurts like torturing me When the girl was using the grooming kit to trim my hair. Not very good experience here. Guess I should've had the owner to do it without the Groupon. read more

First time I ever made a review on Yelp but felt the service and quality was great. I've been going to large chains for years but not any more. This is my go to place. Looking forward to bringing my daughter with me next time, super friendly place. Support local !!! read more

I was recommended to see Moi by a friend that raved about him. So I am recommending everyone to see him. One thing I love about Moi is that he pays attention to detail. Never had I experienced this with getting a hair cut. Actually getting to know you. And see what fits your style. After several months with seeing him I decided to do something different. Giving Moi complete artistic creative control of my new style. Naturally having thick and curly hair. Never had I thought I could have thin straight hair. Now I am able to style it in way I never thought I could. Thank you so much for everything. Please call and set up an appointment with Moi. I am proud to call him my stylist and friend! read more

Moi is a literal hair GOD. HE is also SO kind. He took time to look at my hair and to make sure I was picking the right colors. I decided to get a balayage and he let me pick out my colors and then he put in his insight too. I kept telling him how I'm such a low Maintenance person and he understood completely. He added the perfect amount of copper and blonde highlights into my hair and he blended it in a way that it blends into my natural brown hair. Now I don't have to worry about any harsh lines when my hair starts to grow out! read more

No one else cuts my hair. Its as simple as that. Moi does an amazing job and as long as hes there he will have my business!!

Moi is a hair wizard. My girlfriend and I go to see him when we want a stylist we can trust. The first time we visited him, we were both impressed by his honest assessment of our hair and his insightful recommendations. Long story short, the man knows what he's doing and does it very well. read more

This review is for Moi, the stylist who I've used. Moi has worked on my hair on and off for 8yrs at other salons. I've definitely regretted when I stopped going to him. Now, I found him here at Easy Cuts. He took over Easy Cuts recently and is doing a fantastic job. My hair looks great again. Thanks Moi! Btw, you can park at the theatre parking garage for 2 bucks. read more

One year and never had a bad cut and style here. Moi is a total creative professional that cuts with a sense of confidence that you simply don't see very often. I am impressed by all of the stylists that have worked at easy cuts but now with Moi being the anchor artist in the salon, Im confident that they will do more great things. read more

Letting another man cut your hair (or letting anyone cut your hair, for that matter) is a uniquely personal experience, and a great haircut is far from commonplace. Moi (the owner) utilizes his obvious skill set, not to give you the haircut he thinks you should have, but to shape the haircut that you want into something more. It may seem like an obtuse way to describe that process, but trust me, it's spot on. During my first visit, I showed him a picture I had clipped out of GQ and said, "give me that." And he did. But he also made it 'me'. He didn't make me look like the guy in the magazine; he made me look like I should be in a magazine of my own, a skill which he has applied to each subsequent visit (I've been going there for over a year now). There are no scalp massages or complimentary bourbons here; just damn good haircuts, easy parking, and a competative price structure. If you want the best haircut of your life, well, you heard it here first. read more

Moi is an expert!!! My wife and I both get our haircuts from him and are always happy. Check him out and you won't go anywhere else.

Natural born salon is a very clean and professional establishment. I have been going here for about 8 months now and my hair has never looked better. Moi the owner is always super welcoming and friendly. Moi is well versed in many different styles and I let him have full artistic control over my thinning head of hair. I always walk out with a smile on my face knowing that my new haircut will definitely be turning some heads! I completely give credit to him for turning my dating life around after his miraculous hands crafted my new hair.. I would give him 6 stars but yelp only allows 5.... read more

I bought the Groupon and got such a great haircut/had such a good time that then made an appointment to go back, and both haircuts have been fantastic. There is no cookie-cutter here--he really gets to know you and your hair/inquires about your lifestyle. Very lively yet professional shop. I'm a guy who doesn't care about his hair much but want it to look nice for work and for my wife--so I'm as surprised as anyone that I'm going to be a regular somewhere. I put two dollar signs--I don't know, it's not "cheap" compared to the cheapest haircut you can get, but it's an excellent value for the service and the quality. read more

Cut, color and highlights as well as an engaging chat with Moises was a very pleasant Saturday morning. The salon is clean and modern with the most comfortable chairs for wash and rinse. Far superior to the large chain places. Moises consulted with me and really listened. He asked about my ideas and made suggestions. I received great. Color service and a customized cut. Moises is an trainer for a product line of color so the results are expert level. In addition, he has had training from Aveeda as a stylist and has worked under a Vidal Sasson trained stylist in his travels which culminates in a very well rounded stylist. Highly recommend this salon. Really reasonably priced! Plenty of street parking and great music too. read more

Moi is by far one of the best hair stylists I have come across. He is able to work with my curly hair and give me the right cut so that my curls have that natural bounce. He also cuts all of my young niece's hair. He is also able to straighten my hair so that it bounces and has just the right wave. I bought his perfume from his own line and have received many compliments on the smell. I definitely recommend him if you're looking for a new stylist, affordable, and walk ins welcomed. read more

I had an amazing experience with Ruby today! Attention to detail was 10/10 - she spent a lot of time on my ombre and the results were amazing. What I liked was when I was talking to her and Moi before the treatment, they decided on a color that would be a good fit for me hair. They want your hair to look and feel good not just as you're walking out of the salon but the next week, month, etc. read more
