He also put peekaboo highlights (terminology?) throughout so I could wear my hair down whether or not I curled it. I came here once and had an ok experience with Lily. We scheduled my next appt 8-12 weeks out. I left work early to come to the appt and the door was locked. When Moi finally answered the phone, he said Lily doesn't work here anymore and it's weird that no one reached out to me. Thank you Yelp! I live near Natural Born Salon but had never been over there until yesterday when Ruby cut my hair. I have never gotten as many compliments and "omg where did you get your hair done?" in my life (including my wedding) as I have since then. And I LOVE it. I will definitely be back. A few things, just cause I think they're worth noting: 1. The setup for washing your hair is so comfortable - it is probably one of the more comfortable chairs I've been in for that. The chair slopes back slowly so it's not as much stress on your back and neck. Really appreciated. 2. Even if you make an appointment (and I love that you can book online), you may wind up waiting when you arrive. Everyone who came in when I was there had to wait, as did I. But they do such a good job that it's worth it. 3. The music is not like that at your traditional salon. No Enya here! We listened to everything from salsa to reggaeton to house and had a wonderful time. But if you're someone who can't function with a bass beat, this is probably not the place for you. read more

We bought a Groupon for a men's hair cut and style in July. Scheduling is done via text. We attempted to make several appointments over 3-4 months only to have them all canceled for no reason. I suspect this business js trying to get free advertising from Groupon because they don't want to honor any appointments. In the end he kept offering us an appointment date on a date after which we told him 3 timed the Groupon would already be expired. J don't know how they stay in business with kind of nonsense. I strongly suggest to anyone who reads this not to waste their time with this place. read more

I had an appointment with Tricia for a men haircut. when I got there, a lady came to me and she told me that Tricia ask me to do your haircut, and she wasn't there! I told her that I have an important job interview in two days, and I need someone to be well experienced taking care of my hair. I also talked to Moi in private and told him that this isn't professional that your hairstylist hasn't show up. I make the long story short, I left with an UNFINISHED haircut because it was a torture and I was really pissed off, and I directly went to another salon (Studio 84one) after there. Not a nice and friendly environment, bad management, unprofessional, awful haircut, bad services. Even my shirt and undershirt got wet on my back when she washed my hair. It was a quite nightmare. I'm not a mean person at all, and I don't like mean people; However, I felt so bad for the girl because it wasn't her fault at all. She was a nice girl and she tried to do her best. I did my haircut with ruby. She's amazing and really nice. I really like the results especially my eyebrows But the owner (the guy) has attitude problems I bought coupon online I went there without making a reservation so he refused to cut my hair,I understand that is all my fault, after that I tried to call for making a reservation but he told me to do it online his tone of the voice show as annoyed. So I booked it online and show up. When I entered he gave me a really mean look for a while then he decided to say "did you make a reservation?". I would give this place 5 star but I'm taking one off because of purely the owner attitudes. I definitely will go again because of ruby but hopefully the owner's attitude improve. read more

My experience didn't go so well, my haircut was kinda below my average haircuts as my workmates said it looks ugly, bought Groupon based on the reviews, when I was calling to make reservation I was told I can't have the owner to cut my hair, so I went with the girl who was on the phone. Moi is a literal hair GOD. HE is also SO kind. He took time to look at my hair and to make sure I was picking the right colors. I decided to get a balayage and he let me pick out my colors and then he put in his insight too. I kept telling him how I'm such a low Maintenance person and he understood completely. He added the perfect amount of copper and blonde highlights into my hair and he blended it in a way that it blends into my natural brown hair. Moi (the owner) utilizes his obvious skill set, not to give you the haircut he thinks you should have, but to shape the haircut that you want into something more. It may seem like an obtuse way to describe that process, but trust me, it's spot on. During my first visit, I showed him a picture I had clipped out of GQ and said, "give me that." And he did. But he also made it 'me'. He didn't make me look like the guy in the magazine; he made me look like I should be in a magazine of my own, a skill which he has applied to each subsequent visit (I've been going there for over a year now). I bought the Groupon and got such a great haircut/had such a good time that then made an appointment to go back, and both haircuts have been fantastic. There is no cookie-cutter here--he really gets to know you and your hair/inquires about your lifestyle. Very lively yet professional shop. I'm a guy who doesn't care about his hair much but want it to look nice for work and for my wife--so I'm as surprised as anyone that I'm going to be a regular somewhere. Far superior to the large chain places. Moises consulted with me and really listened. He asked about my ideas and made suggestions. I received great. Color service and a customized cut. Moises is an trainer for a product line of color so the results are expert level. In addition, he has had training from Aveeda as a stylist and has worked under a Vidal Sasson trained stylist in his travels which culminates in a very well rounded stylist. Moi is by far one of the best hair stylists I have come across. He is able to work with my curly hair and give me the right cut so that my curls have that natural bounce. He also cuts all of my young niece's hair. He is also able to straighten my hair so that it bounces and has just the right wave. It's a hidden gem! I went for highlights, a color correction, and a trim. Moi, the owner, was super nice- asked questions, listened and explained what he was going to do. I love my hair and it looks healthy and natural. Moi is great with color- a true expert (the salon is Aveda certified)!
