This salon has my heart. My daughter had a huge knot in her hair. The owner arranged for a stylist to come in early. After a full hour another stylist joined her and the two worked together for another hour to get it out. They treated me and her with incredible kindness. I get my hair done there normally and am always happy, but this just went above and beyond. Once out, they washed, cut and blew dry her hair. I have never seen her hair more beautiful. Before Salon Karma said they would help the only advice we had gotten was to cut the knot out (which was right on top of her head). I had to give 1 star to post but my opinion Salon Karma NO stars. If you pay for a service and the salon defaults on that service the salon shall rectify or compensate the client. Not at Salon Karma!! I have never written a bad review about a restaurant, person, place or thing. I requested an appointment for a Hair Cut and a Keratin Treatment. I might add costing over $400. The Hair Cut not so great the Keratin Treatment should last 4-6 months. I called and spoke to the owner at the 5 1/2 week fatter my Keratin treatment and told her it DID NOT TAKE, from day one to the 5 1/2 week mark each day my hair had more and more frizz and curl as if I never had a treatment. Flat ironing twice a day. The owner insinuated I did something wrong, as washing my hair to soon, getting it wet or using a sodium shampoo or swimming. Which was not the case! The owner said I should have called day one. I was out of state for 4 weeks. If should last 4-6 months. Refusing to even have me come in and look at my hair or compensate me in any way. Which tells me the salon does not stand behind their services or stylists , Very Poor Client, Stylist - Owner relationship Poor Business ethic. Sad you pay for services not rendered. Let me add I am a Hairstylist for many years, I owned my own salon, sold it and ran 15 salons for a company up North, before moving here. I am a Certified Coppola Keratin stylist. I have given countless Keratin treatments for over 18 years, along with having it done on my own hair, I have even given myself this treatment at times. I would say I know a little something about Keratin treatments, when a treatment didn't take and how to care for your hair after a Keratin Treatment. I feel very taken advantage by this owner. She's a true professional and expert in coloring. So gave me the best blow dry that I have had in a long time. It was the same treatment I received in New York at the Fekkai salon. I NEVER leave negative reviews but I'm so bummed at the way my hair turned out. $257 plus tip for "balayage" and a trim. The color is brassy, the haircut is uneven. I've had my hair highlighted many many times and I've never had results like this. I was very specific about what I wanted. I even showed the stylist a photo. I asked for very blonde, thick money pieces in the front and it looks like my 2 year old painted orange highlights on the front of my head. I wanted to speak up but I was in shock that I paid almost $300 for this service that I frankly hate. I have to go to a different salon and have them fix it next week. I was really excited to get my hair done as I rarely treat myself and I'm just so disappointed. I could've done a better job myself with some bleach and toner from Sally's. read more

She listened to what I wanted to have done and offered me great suggestions for color and the hair cut. I love the color and cut, it's beautiful. Do not bring your kids here. A cut is the normal $25, but what they don't tell you is a blow dry doubles your bill and then some. I asked for minimal fun color like just tips and a bit underneath on my kids. My fault for not clarifying, I walked out of there for $200 per kid - total of $400. I was told they needed extra color (what does that even mean, I've been getting my hair colored for 30yrs and never heard of it). If they were pro's in their field I may even feel a bit better, but we were told that certain hairstyles exceeded their abilities and they were only able to do trims!! Please, learn from my mistake on this one. Of course the owner is "on vacation" but I'm sure she'll get back to me when she's back. Yeah right. read more

I have only been living in the area for 6 months, and this is the only salon I've visited since I moved. I will say that the overall services are comparable to where I was going before, but that isn't the issue. I have had two appointments here, and my daughter had one. All three of the appointments went the same... a consultation was scheduled, an appointment for specific services was made, and then several other different services were pushed on us and the original quote went out the window. My first consultation was for a complete overhaul of my hair. Taking color out, repairing damage, and... this was the main point... making it so that I didn't have to keep getting it colored just to maintain a look. $600 later... which was more than my quote and minus the $65 charge for the cut she didn't have time to do... I like my hair, but am mostly happy that I will no longer be a slave to the salon. Fast forward three months and I make an appointment for the cut that was missed last time and actually went into the salon for her to see my hair to make sure I made my appointment for the correct service. She told me all I would need was a tone ($20) plus a cut ($65) so I make the appointment. I show up for my appointment. And when I go to check out, my bill is $165. So after $600 to remove color, and making an appointment for a tone, she decides to do an all over color... not only costing $100 more than the appointment was made for, but completely defeating the purpose of the $600 appointment months before. Unfortunately, my daughter was given a gift card for this salon and had made an appointment before this happened so I let it go, giving them another chance to do the right thing. Again, the appointment was made, based off of a consultation, and a quote was given. My daughter is 14 years old, and was frantically texting me minutes after sitting in the chair because the girl doing her hair was telling her that she was going to be doing services that were not included in her gift card/appointment. I should've known there was a reason that no one I had met since my move would recommend this place. I can't believe they are still in business after demonstrating this business practice repeatedly. The service is good, but honestly, for the money charged, it should be much better. I will never go back, and sincerely hope this reviews saves other potential victims from falling prey to this type of shady behavior. read more

Samantha was so talented and the staff was prompt, professional and welcoming. As a woman you would understand that "toner" usually comes with coloring (they actually charge twenty five dollars extra for putting in toner.) Worst salon experience I've had in my 40+ years of life. I had a bad haircut and color, so I called the salon to see if they would be willing to see me to correct it. I was told it would be an additional charge to do so. I didn't have a good experience when I was there to begin with - very uppity and "too cool for school" attitude. I decided not to return and to prevent others from having the same experience, I left an honest review. I was contacted by the owner threatening me to either take down my review or she would in turn review me (I'm a small business owner) even though she's never been to my business and she would contact her attorney. All they had to do was invite me back to the salon and offer try to make it right for me. I've told everyone I know who is looking for a salon and hopefully this review will help save others a trip. read more

I arrived at the Salon 10 minutes early for an appointment to have my hair cut. I was told that the stylist I had booked was running a "little behind." No problem, life happens. 45 minutes later, the stylist finally walks up and asks me to come back. I sit in the chair and she beings hurriedly asking what "I want done," treating me as an inconvenience rather than a new, paying client. Had she even at that point mentioned an apology about being so late it may have been a different appointment, but alas no. I finally decided to just get up out of the chair and leave. NEVER AGAIN!!! You go in there they quote you a price. Then they jack it up beyond belief and tell you we do not give quotes. Read the other reviews. Besides that it took the girl 3 hours to apply color to my hair and when all was done and said I had orange hair!!! Not what I wanted. The girl apparently thought you bleach out a dark brown hair then apply color. NEVER AGAIN RUN! When I called to speak to manager I got a run around. I had to dispute with my credit card. They did reverse the charges but my hair is still orange. I went to another salon they can cover it but the bleach ruined my hair . I just have to grow out the issue. read more

Andrew is amazing!!! Salon karma is a very chic salon with a staff that really knows what they are doing. I went to Andrew today for highlights and I could not be more satisfied! He took the time to actually listen to what I had to say and explain to me what he thought would look best. Throughout the whole process he kept me very informed on what he was doing. After the highlighting process, he gave me a tutorial on how to style my hair a different way than the same ole thing I've been doing for years. Great high end salon. Great atmosphere and decor but stylists are extremely pushy into getting you to spend more. You can not come in and just get highlights.. they need to use toner after your highlights (which you pay for), they suggest a million add ons and don't want you to just get the one service you're there for. Obviously it's a salon and I expect them to encourage more but it's just annoying. read more

I selected Salon Karma based on the five-star reviews in Yelp. My hair was medium-short, and had grown out alot from my last haircut. I went to get about an inch cut off, and to add a little more layering. What I got was all my hair, ALL my hair cut off. I brought in pictures of what I did not want to happen, and what I did want to happen, style-wise. One picture was that of a very short haircut. I showed the stylist the picture and said 'do not make me look like a boy, this is an example of a too-short haircut'. I showed her a photo of a hairstyle similar to what I had, but with a little more layering. The stylist proceeded to trim, and trim, and trim. I noted to her that the cut was getting very short, but I was told to trust her, it will look fine in the end. More hair came off and more hair. I ended with a shorter version of the 'Bubble' haircut ... I am sure you all remember the 'Bubble'. Not exactly a medium-short hair cut. I again pointed out to her that the hair cut was very, very short. And the stylist proceeded to tell me why she had to cut it that way. I have had bad haircuts before, and this one is right up there in the top three. For an expensive salon, this should not have happened. My stylist was Pricila Ortiz. She was lovely and charming, and I liked her very much. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. Every time I glance in a mirror, I want to cry. read more
