Sandi was super adorable and sweet with gentle hands. She was definitely trying to make my experience a good one. I got a shampoo cut and style. I must say the shampoo basins were the most comfortable I've ever been in, so no after neck pain which was a plus. She cut my hair first then shampooed and blew dry my hair. My only problem was I wanted more layers which I asked for after she was done because the layers were long and they just fell flat. She did try her best to accommodate my request and added a bit more but you only see them on the ends. I'm thankful I got a decent cut. $70+ is pricey but I guess nowadays it's the going rate.

I went there and all they did was detangle my hair and blow dry it . I looked like a lion when I got out . There was wet areas in the back of My hair , they tried to blow dry super fast and then curl but didn't even make sure my roots were straight and smooth. I ended up paying over 70.00 when I had to come home and redo everything piece by piece and straighten it . I could have did what they did my self . Super unhappy and feel like I gave away money. They also were rushing to be done with me as they had appointments coming in. Def felt like a bother, instead of them telling me they just couldn't do my hair .

I like my haircut. I am satisfied, but I wouldn't recommend it or go back because of the culture…read moreand the level of care I felt like I received. Details below First, about me: 1) My hair is straight and notably thick for fine hair. 2) This was my 1st time trying a salon that isn't like $65+/ women's cut. I have taken my probable bias into account while creating this review. I saw Niki (spelling = ?) for a women's haircut. I wanted to trim off several inches to armpit-ish length + soften the edges. Haircut was good. I must mention I witnessed the 2 present hairdressers complaining *in front of clients* about the lack of stylists in the area to hire, and they joked - for a duration that has me convinced it *totally wasn't* a joke - that they'd hire anyone who claims to be a hairstylist just as long as they knew basic color theory. Yikes. So obvs that's big turnoff to a new client + worth mentioning, but the experience was just unsatisfactory overall. Here's the deal. I've talked to so many bubbly hairdressers who are passionate about their work. And I get that a salon is like a family. That's great! But if I'm your family's dinner guest, I expect the host to introduce themself/-selves, maybe offer water/beverage, check in about water temperature, ask about myself, keep conversations with family co-hosts positive and professional, speak of your family to guests with dignity, and, idk, help me feel welcomed throughout? Cool. These expectations - though some were possibly too much - weren't met at Parkway Salon. Nor were some other basic things I'd expect- like an atmosphere where I'm comfortable speaking up or asking for clarification, for a heavy-handed hairdresser to look in my general direction while brushing, for hairdressers to be positive but maybe not carelessly dancing while snipping away, to be asked if I want a receipt, and maybe even to be asked if I want to schedule a next appointment. I could tell Niki was trying to be nice at the beginning and at the very end, though. And, again, I still like my haircut. Maybe the negative atmosphere was from the other client present, or maybe mornings are just rough here.

The owner of the salon, Leslie, is super friendly and cares about her customers. ATMOSPHERE The hair stations are antique, painted vanities, there is a barn door at back of salon, and a modern waiting area up front which give it great charm and class. I believe a majority of her clients are female but as a male, I feel welcome here, and have seen a number of other males. They are a great option for all. EXPERIENCE She has a number of stylists, but Leslie is my stylist. She is great at recommending hair styles and has always been fantastic with my hair. She gives me highlights and a cut. She tried out highlight colors for me until we found the right match for my hair. Like a good stylist, she is social and carries interesting conversations during the appointment. SHOP As an Aveda salon they carry many (if not all) the Aveda products. I really enjoy the Aveda Pure-formance shampoo and conditioner (for men). It's a sulfate free shampoo made with all natural ingredients. It has great manly cologne-like scent to boot. The conditioner leaves your head felling great with a refreshing tingle. NAME The name "Brave" was inspired by something Leslie's kid said as well as respect for her husband's career. Ask her about the story to learn about the inspiration. I highly recommend this place!
