Sandi was super adorable and sweet with gentle hands. She was definitely trying to make my experience a good one. I got a shampoo cut and style. I must say the shampoo basins were the most comfortable I've ever been in, so no after neck pain which was a plus. She cut my hair first then shampooed and blew dry my hair. My only problem was I wanted more layers which I asked for after she was done because the layers were long and they just fell flat. She did try her best to accommodate my request and added a bit more but you only see them on the ends. I'm thankful I got a decent cut. $70+ is pricey but I guess nowadays it's the going rate.

The people there are very friendly and not at all 'foo-foo' the way some salons can be. It never felt like I was intruding on a party, the way it can at times feel when you are a newcomer! The owner spoke with me on the phone, set up my appointment with someone she felt was right for the job, and welcomed me to the salon's fold. When I went for my appointment (nice little reminder by text the day before), I met a young lady named Alexis, or Lexi, as I heard her called. She was polite, quiet, and listened to what I had I n mind. She then gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. On my return trip 6 weeks later, Lexi remembered me and again listened to a couple of revisions I had decided to implement. She did an even better job than before!! I had sent a friend there also, who needed cut, highlights, and conditioning-she reported a great experience, too. Overall, this is just a great place to go, skilled and friendly folks to work with, and results that speak for themselves - both my friend and I have gotten several compliments after having our hair done there. Oh, and guess what else? Great prices, no pushy sales job on products, and a genuine 'thank you' afterwards. It's so hard to find a great place to get reliable, affordable hair services; but this is one place I would highly recommend for anyone in the area. My only issue was the price of the services are based on the skill of the stylist and the amount of time. So since I was with a master stylist my blowout should have been $75 opposed to the $55 that I paid and the $45 that is advertised on their price list. I will have to take a look at the price list to see if there is a running scale on the prices advertised. I questioned the price and the stylist was polite in explaining how everything is calculated. I probably won't be back because I can't afford $75 blowouts every week. I like to have my hair blown out every week so I look for more aggressive pricing.

Details below First, about me: 1) My hair is straight and notably thick for fine hair. 2) This was my 1st time trying a salon that isn't like $65+/ women's cut. I have taken my probable bias into account while creating this review. I saw Niki (spelling = ?) for a women's haircut. I wanted to trim off several inches to armpit-ish length + soften the edges. Haircut was good. I must mention I witnessed the 2 present hairdressers complaining *in front of clients* about the lack of stylists in the area to hire, and they joked - for a duration that has me convinced it *totally wasn't* a joke - that they'd hire anyone who claims to be a hairstylist just as long as they knew basic color theory. Yikes. So obvs that's big turnoff to a new client + worth mentioning, but the experience was just unsatisfactory overall. Here's the deal. I've talked to so many bubbly hairdressers who are passionate about their work. And I get that a salon is like a family. That's great! But if I'm your family's dinner guest, I expect the host to introduce themself/-selves, maybe offer water/beverage, check in about water temperature, ask about myself, keep conversations with family co-hosts positive and professional, speak of your family to guests with dignity, and, idk, help me feel welcomed throughout? Cool. These expectations - though some were possibly too much - weren't met at Parkway Salon. Nor were some other basic things I'd expect- like an atmosphere where I'm comfortable speaking up or asking for clarification, for a heavy-handed hairdresser to look in my general direction while brushing, for hairdressers to be positive but maybe not carelessly dancing while snipping away, to be asked if I want a receipt, and maybe even to be asked if I want to schedule a next appointment. I could tell Niki was trying to be nice at the beginning and at the very end, though. And, again, I still like my haircut. It's a sulfate free shampoo made with all natural ingredients. It has great manly cologne-like scent to boot. The conditioner leaves your head felling great with a refreshing tingle.
