I do not write reviews lightly because this affects peoples livelihoods, but I needed to write this one. I called and spoke with the owner to see if they did passion twists and how much it would be. She asked me the length I wanted, and I told her 22 inches long. She then quoted me a price of $180. I texted her back to find out what type of hair I would need she did not respond until 2 days before my appointment. I could not get the hair by then, so I got the type of hair from a different maker. I will get to the point. The first issue was that she complained that the hair was difficult to use, but she started doing my hair anyway until another braider arrived. She then let the new braider continue where she left off. She asked me about the length after two rolls of twisting it short and big. I told her I asked for them to be 22 inches long and she started making them longer. The new braider was very rough on my head, and I am not sensitive to getting my hair done. The new braider also complained about the hair. When she finally finished my hair, I had kinky twists and bald edges that I did not see until I pulled my hair up into a ponytail on my cruise for my birthday. Also, when I paid her the $180, she looked offended, but I explained that was the price I was quoted. She turned to the owner who told me that because I had gotten a longer length it would be $20 more. I was upset but I paid the money and left. Had I known that the braider had pop my edges off I would not have paid the extra money because she never informed me of what happened. I would not return and I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone because these people are obviously only out to make money and do not care about being unethical in their business practices. The young lady who braided my daughter's hair was awesome! She was patient, and worked with my daughter to make sure the style wasn't too tight or too heavy. Her speed was good, and the finished product was evenly spaced, and looked great. My daughter loved the style, and didn't complain about her head hurting! Side note: I'm a white mom with black children, and I cannot cornrow effectively or efficiently, so when part of the style came loose (all part of the Great Bonnet Argument of 2018), and I had no clue how to fix it, I stopped by to ask. I figured the worst they could do was tell me to make an appointment and charge me to fix it. Nope!! When I dropped in--with no appointment--with my daughter to ask how I could fix the problem, the (lady who I think was the) owner stopped what she was doing, showed me how to fix it, and then fixed it for me at no charge, even though it wasn't an issue relating to the quality of the work. Very disappointed! I scheduled an appointment days in advance with a confirmed price by the receptionist/boss. Let me begin by saying, the directions on Yelp are not correct. With this in mind, I was unaware of the new address as this was my first visit. When I finally found there new location it was not where I expected. I arrived, on time might I add, but I was informed that there was a mistake with my appointment. Someone else was given my time slot and they asked me to come back tomorrow for a reduced price. Well, I could not come back tomorrow due to a schedule conflict. These were all signs to move on to another hair braiding salon. The young lady, I assume was the head boss decided to take me in and do my braids. She made my appointment and decided to upgrade the cost of my hair and she also charged me for the braiding hair too. When I booked the appointment, the cost was totally different and there was no reference to the cost of this itchy 1B braiding hair. The braiding hair is itchy on my scalp and my braids are tight. I noticed that they changed the prices quite often when it is time to pay. So get the price in writing or via text so there are no issues. Beware! The salon is very nice, organized, clean, and cute. I asked for a difficult & odd design in my cornrows- heart shapes on both sides of my head and for the hair to meet my mid back. What I got was an amazing result with lots of hospitality from not just my braider but others too. It took a bit of time, but that was expected. Comfort did my hair- very friendly and accommodating! Second visiting here and probably my last. There is to much inconsistency when it comes to pricing. I would suggest that if you use them, have them write down your total before you start your service. I needed a wash, comb out and two cornrows. One on each side of my head. These are the same exact services I got a few months ago and paid $45.00. So on this visit the young lady stated it would also be $45.00. She leaves. When I'm done the young lady who did my hair was like $60.00. So I'm like um, ol girl told me $45.00. We went back and forth and I told them they need to get on one accord with their prices. Tl;Dr I would only give one star had it not been for Shay-Ye. She was incredibly sweet!! The owner sent Shay-Ye home and disregarded the way I wanted my cornrows and eczema. She braided so tight that the pain has lasted five days and counting and tore my skin. The employees were so very friendly but it's not my cup of tea. When I got there, Shay-Ye (spelling phonetically. Apologies, I don't know the correct spelling) started on my hair immediately. She was very sweet! I asked her to braid my hair down for a wig that I had at home. I asked her to part my hair on the left and braid in that direction because that is the way my wigs are parted. She combed my hair out, we had great conversation! Here comes the bad part: so the owner comes in and I couldn't understand what she was saying to Shay-Ye but from her tone, I could tell she was chastising Shay-Ye. Then in English she said something to the effect of "you cannot part her hair on that side". Shay-Ye explains that that's the way I wanted. The owner says that's not a thing. She sends Shay-Ye home and finishes my hair, all the while telling my how dry my scalp was. I explained more than once that I have eczema, but maybe she didn't understand. Needless to say I got pretty annoyed with that. She finished, and instead of my braids parting to the left to match the part of my wigs, I had cornrows going straight back. They were super tight, but this is expected with braids. What IS NOT expected is the pain to persist for 5 days now and for the braids to be pulled so tight that it breaks my skin. I can't put anything on my scalp because it burns the broken skin. read more

This place is Sooooooooo different than any other african braiding shop I have ever been to! The place is clean. The shop has Netflix and other English movies and shows. They offer drinks and snacks for free. The owner even made some hair products to make your hair soft. The braiders actually listened when I requested them not to braid my edges!!! I even went home without a headache!! I still can not believe this is an African braiding shop!! read more

Horrible customer service, late, on the phone the whole time, and over booked. The whole shop was a joke.

Let me just say how important I believe customer service is...I drove to this shop to make an appointment just to discover the business had moved to another location. I called the number the business left on the door to make an appointment. Needless to say the person that answered the phone preferred to communicate via text. She gave me a date and price but informed me that she was too busy to text me the location of the business for my appointment. What?! Too busy to book an appointment?! Lol what are the odds of that. I arrived early in the morning to get Senegalese twists on 1/19/20. I had booked my appointment and paid online a few days prior. I had asked if the hair is included, they said yes. The hair is not included, you have to pay an extra fee of $10 dollars. I love my hair! They did a good job and were fast. I said nothing but the best, and that's what I received. I started at 7:30 am and got out of the chair around 11:30-12 ish. I gave them 3 instead of 5 because one of the young ladies was talking about she couldn't grip the back of my hair and then her attitude switched up once I said, "Please let me know whether or not you can do it. If not refund me my money and I can go elsewhere. There are quite a few African shops in Savannah." My hair does look great, but the two girls working in my head did not do my edges.
