I knew that budget pricing likely meant a lower-quality haircut, but I'm not very particular when it comes to my hair, so I booked an appointment. The experience was as I'd expected (very similar to a Great Clips or another average barber), but when I went up to pay, they informed me that they'd increased their prices by over 30% but hadn't updated their website. They showed me a small pile of pamphlets on the opposite side of the check-in counter that listed the updated prices, but most customers don't look for pamphlets when they check in--they simply say that they're here and take a seat. Unfortunately, they acknowledged their mistake but weren't willing to honor their online advertised prices that had convinced me to give the place a try, so I ended up paying what the salons I was considering visiting charged but received a less-than-salon experience. I wish Chance & Taylor had more of an emphasis on transparent pricing for customers who book online or based on the website's claims. I understand that mistakes happen, but having your customers bear the consequences doesn't seem right to me.

Joel answered the phone and told me they use Goldwell products; (one of the best but more expensive products), so I made an appointment. With thick, curly hair, Joel cut, colored, and styled my hair professionally and expertly, all for much less than I was used to paying. She was recommended. So here is your second endorsement! First of all, book an appointment on their website! It was the easiest hair appointment I have ever booked and I didn't talk to anyone. Very convenient when you have small children who won't let you talk on the phone. Anyway, easy peasy and you get a confirmation via text or email and reminders closer to the appointment too! The studio is in the complex just before the YMCA in Richmond Hill. As soon as you turn (just before the highway), after the bend, as soon as you see buildings, turn in and the studio is one of the first doors. There is plenty of parking. The complex has a lot. They have a small reception area in the front and then a small hallway leads you to the work space. I believe there are 3 hairstylists total. The decor is very modern chic. Danielle herself is a stunning lady, beautiful and stylish and of course, her hair was on point! That was very reassuring, kinda like when you show up to your first session with a personal trainer and you're like, yeah, I want a body like that! She took the time to listen to my 5 different ideas and eventually, she advised me on one that she thought would look good on me. She also told me of an organization, Children with Hair Loss that they work with that provide human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults who are faced with medically related hair loss. I was able to donate 12 inches of my hair and I'm so glad I was able to do that, so if you are cutting off a good chunk, make sure you let her know before she starts! Also, lastly, she is super affordable! Great price for amazing work! I went back with both my kids. I had to test the waters with me first, LOL. She was great with both girls (and she's equipped too, with booster seat for the chair and Angry Bird/Pink apron-thingy-ma-jigs or whatever you call that thing is draped over you, you know?! To let the hair slide off?!...Mommy brain! My oldest was just over the moon when she curled it after the cut. She said she felt so pretty! Danielle also offered the kids lollipops at the end of each of their visits. She definitely won them over with that. Smart lady! Book now. She books up fast!

It's always a little nerve racking to get a haircut at a new place for the first time, but I really like the cut I came away with and will definitely go back. Towne is in a great location in mid-town and not to far from where I live -- so super convenient! The staff was very friendly and I was greeted with a warm welcome and a beverage while I waited for my appointment to start. The space looks like a quaint, small home from the outside, but it's very airy and spacious on the inside. I enjoyed the clean, modern decor of the salon. I really loved getting my haircut by London - incredibly friendly, talkative and had a great instinct for the type of cut I wanted. She told me my layers were too short in the front. Then she proceeded to chop the layers in the back just as short. She took off a full 1.5", all of my length. She assured me it would grow back just fine because hair in the back "grows faster". I also asked for a red-based color and she told me that was wrong and that I should have brown, so that's what she gave me. My hair is now short and brown instead of red brown and mid length as I requested. So I look like Marie decided I should look. She also took several cigarette breaks during the process and kept breathing smoke on me. Very unprofessional.
