Riley is a hair cutting master! My teenage daughter had let her hair grow out for over 2 years. She loved her long hair but she had some major dead ends and it needed a good cleanup. Service and price were great--I received a haircut from Abigail and it came out perfect. The price was around $40, which was less than I was expecting from a boutique shop like this. The store itself is super cute. I can tell they get a lot of business from bridal parties; they have a big open seating area perfect for pictures and socializing right when you enter. The one downside is that I did have a bit of trouble finding the entrance. I went down to the river side of the street and didn't see any signage. I was about to give up but walked around to the other side and saw their sign on the second level. FYSA--they're located on the side of the building facing away from the river (but have epic views from inside). All in all, a great visit and I'll definitely go again next time I'm in Savannah. Meh. I've experienced better. I'd give my hair 3/5 (Average). Received some glam curls. Price $125 As for my makeup, I'd give it 2/5. Did my makeup look decent? Yes. Was it what I asked for? No. I showed the photo of how I'd like my makeup done two days prior and the day of. Nothing out of the ordinary. I was charged $125 plus $15 for lashes for something that looked like normal date-night makeup. I vocalized that the eye makeup was soft on the edges and lacked the sharp line shown in the photos; she worked on them for a bit longer and then showed me them and they looked the same. She put two different lip colors on me that were much darker than the photo and when I told her that they were too dark, she proceeded to tell me she didn't have the lip color I wanted. If she didn't have the correct lip color, why didn't she tell me this on my first trip into the shop confirming the look? Third item: the inner right eyelash was pulling away from my eye. I vocalized this and she said that I should "pinch" the inside of my lash to get it to stick. In the majority of my close-up wedding photos, my eyelash is noticeably pulled away from the lash line. Very disappointing. The positives about my makeup: Color match, cheek contouring. I received a survey request for feedback after my appointment, completed, and then received a message from the owner stating I should have come in for a makeup trial. Doesn't sound like someone who wants feedback unless it's all positive. read more

I've been coming to this salon for about 2 years. I was double charged for a service. Totaling over 400 I was alarmed I had never been charged that much. I asked and was told it was the correct amount. I got a teasy light and a haircut. I paid and I asked for the receipt they said they would send it online. First visit, LAST VISIT! I called the salon for directions, as google maps routed me to River Street versus Bay Street; the receptionist was gave very limited instructions and abruptly huge up. I eventually found it, and waited for my stylist, Chelsea. She brought me back, and looked at my hair in disgust (I have neglected my hair due to some (very sad) life circumstances) and told me she would "be back." I waited a few minutes, and upon her return, she told me that she was unable to cut my hair into a simple bob; I needed to reschedule with someone else. I previously left a five star review but I needed to update it. This salon is only here for the money. They don't care about clients - maybe the stylists do but the owner certainly doesn't. I spent thousands of dollars at this salon over a year, and I had a bad reaction to the skincare products and hair products they sold me. I tried to return the products (which every company or any salon worth it would take back 30 days or less) and the owner REFUSED to give me my money back or store credit etc. That's to someone who was a regular monthly paying customer shelling out over $500 a month on services. They certainly lost me a long time ago and I only regret not posting this sooner. They also lied to my face about their Brazilian Blowout being "healthy and formaldehyde free" - lie. I've heard from MANY other people in town that this salon ruined their hair. Lastly, the lasts couple of months I went there to see a specific stylist they would sit me with the girl who was training to be a stylist when I was paying big $ to be with the licensed stylist I chose. This is the place to go if you're wanting a bob hairstyle, hands down! But I have basically jet black Asian hair, and was wanting a fall burgundy and chocolate hair color. I came out with a burgundy balayage and paid almost $300, only to come back and have it be toned back to almost black again. I just had high hopes for my inspiration picture. But I just would not recommend this place if you have natural Asian black hair and are wanting to color your hair lighter. I'm sure this place is great for blondes! I should have listened to the poor reviews on yelp. I went in for a simple balayage with Chelsea. A service I've had done for the past 6 years. I just needed the color brought up to cover my roots. I even brought in photos of what I wanted. I ended up leaving golden/brassy and darker than when I initially came in. I have orange demarcation lines. I came back a second time to give them a chance to correct it and my hair was just as dark and golden. I was told I had to come back and have a second service done and pay for it. I've never been told that my desired results could not be achieved with a simple balayage. I've never had to come back more than once. I called and asked to speak with the manager and she refused to speak with me. I asked for a refund due to the fact that the were unable to provide me with the service I requested and they refused. Susan (the owner) was kind enough to get me in the next day with BaiLee. I was a little worried when I met BaiLee because she is a natural redhead, and not a bleached and toned blonde like me. Took me in as a last minute walk in appointment . Color correction. Looked amazing and did not overcharge or try to upsell.

During my first visit, the stylist left spots on my head and basically charged me $240 to put a gloss over my hair color. When I called to explain I was unhappy, the front office was rude to me, stated that Susan, the owner, was on vacation and would get back with me the following week. A week goes by and I haven't heard anything so I call again. The assistant manager schedules me for an appointment 1 week after my initial appointment to have it fixed. When I showed up to the appointment, my stylist and the "head stylist" evaluated the spots that were painted onto my head, and continued to defend the results, stating that the only person who could make the call to fix my hair would be the owner, who was still out of town. Another week days goes by - it is now two weeks since my appointment and complaint. Finally, the owner contacts me, and is very apologetic, says she will fix it personally, and refunded me $100. Susan's appointment before me ran late and I was sitting for 50 minutes in the waiting room - not a huge deal but it would have been nice of them to call me and give me a heads up. She reassured me that the stylist should have gone about a different way, and proceeded to fix my hair and was very pleasant. After, she scheduled me for a follow up visit with her for two months out (February) and she was going to use me as a model for a class to remove color (I have dark underneath). Two months later, Susan (the owner) calls me two hours before my appointment and cancels due to an emergency, but reassures me she will be in touch with me that evening to reschedule. That was THREE weeks ago, and I still have not heard anything from her. I gave this salon another chance after I was treated so unprofessionally, only to get cancelled same day by the owner of the salon... If I had known, then I would have had time to schedule an appointment with a completely different salon instead of being left high and dry with roots for days. If you want high quality salon prices for hair student results, poor management, and rude customer service, by all means go to Roots Southern Salon. read more
