I went there because my nail salon was full. I'm so glad I walked in. I first went and saw the cosmetologist. She is amazing. I felt so comfortable and had great results. After that I got a mani/pedi. Not only did she do a great job, but they give you a leg massage and neck massage which made the experience that much better. 1 star specifically for their dip manicure. I don't usually go here, but did for location convenience last week. Their dip mani doesn't apply as thick as I'm used to. 2 nails cracked after 4 days and after 6 days - 1/2 nail has chipped off and 3 additional has cracked. I do dip manis at Mid City Nail and they last with no chip or discoloration until I take it off, up to 3.5 weeks later. What a waste of $45 and tip. read more

I have been meaning to write a review of this salon. As others have said...it's a great place to get pampered. The mani/pedis are great but the best part is the mini massage you get. I go ever week and I seen Bardha every other week for waxes. She is great. She sometimes runs a little late but it's usually because she spends a lot of time with her clients. I am getting my first facial with her on Friday and am very excited! I will update my review when I'm done. I love this place! I live around the corner but will make trek over here if I ever move. The only problem is that parking can be a bit tough in the area. I suggest walking there or parking a few blocks away on Huron or south on Grand. read more

The manicures and pedicures are consistently good. The massage chairs are heaven and the leg massage is great. I have tried ~8 different techs and I would recommend nearly every one. Cleaniness is not a strength. They only rinse the foot tubs between clients and I've only seen them use detergent about 1/2 of the time. Jeton (Tony) is my hair stylist. I can't say enough good things about HIM and this salon. He is an amazing hair stylist- always 100% professional and listens to what you really want. To say the least, he is unbelievable at color. He really knows what he is doing, and has traveled the world learning about hair/color/cutting/and new prodcuts and it shows. I am very picky about who touches my hair- i have had 2 hair stylists in my life and i picked tony as one of them. I have never left unsatisfied, he is a master at his industry. He cuts exactly on what looks good for you personally, you will never leave his chair unsatisfied. Jeton at Salon Excursion will give you the best haircut you'll ever have. With a masters stylist degree and classes taken worldwide, you'll see right away why he identifies more as an artist than a traditional stylist. Never have I learned more about my own hair than when he explained why he made every cut and color choice as he did. If you're looking for somebody who will spend the time to perfect your cut and color to match your personality, he'll take on that challenge. I just got my hair cut and highlighted last week, and he first talked me through what I wanted and then made suggestions that would enhance my features already. I went here with a couple girlfriends on a Thursday early afternoon for mani/pedis. There were only a couple other customers in there and we picked out our colors and went straight to the pedicure chairs. The massage chair was a little rough for my liking, though I am on the small size. The lady I had (Yoon I think was her name) was very attentive and very thorough. While painting my fingers, she started over on one because she didn't like the way it turned out. Also, they give you a neck massage before they paint your fingers! A very nice extra. I went almost a week ago and my fingernails have barely chipped at all. I wish this place was located closer to my house so I could go back more often! read more

Salon Excursion is my weekly retreat. The facilities are nice and big, there is a good color section, and prices are competitive. The best part? The technicians give amazing massages at multiple points throughout your services. And if you need a brow wax, Barta will definitely take good care of you. I've taken multiple friends to Salon Excursion for pre-wedding events, and we were able to bring in drinks and food to top off the already-great experience. Now they are fans also! read more

This is my go-to nail salon (which is at least 30% because of location). They have a great selection of colors, all the staff is very nice. Its usually very easy to walk in, except on Saturdays during the late morning/early afternoon. The hand/upper back massages they do during a mani are a highlight. Not the cheapest, but definitely not expensive - a mani is $16. They have a punchcard where after 7 visits you get a free mani. Only reason they are not 5 stars is because it's not as comfortable and clean as a spa. read more

I came in late one evening, right before close (I didn't realize) but the lovely ladies treated me so nicely! So cheap for the mani/pedi combo, I thought it would feel cheap too, but nope! They took their time and were careful. I have many broken, short nails, and they didn't give me weird looks (like why are you here) and were careful around the shortest areas. They made conversation and gave massages even while my nails were drying! The only thing I missed was the paraffin dip, but for that price, I'm happy with what I got! Nice chairs, no bad smells, many colors to choose from. Yay! OH YEAH... and unlike many many "nice" salons in the area, if you're looking to go with a friend, you can go together here! This is my first time ever writing a review, but I was inspired to share with others my overwhelmingly positive experience with Tony at Salon Excursion. First - Tony - he is wonderful! My hair is straight, thick, and difficult to cut because of its texture. I have been to many stylists who have not been able to layer it to my satisfaction. Tony does an incredible job of working with my hair. I have received many compliments from others on my haircuts. Tony is always professional, attentive to detail, and accommodating. As for Salon Excursion, the owners are always friendly and courteous. I have always been happy with the manis/pedis too, but I would follow Tony anywhere. read more

I was there with my friends on last week. they were having mon-wed special $35 for meni/pedi. Nice ppl there and they did great job. The girl who name jenny did mine and she did a really great job! Its been few days pedi still perfect and my nail looks still good. I have ingrown toe nail it always bothers me, but jenny cut each side of my big toe nail perfectly and it helps a lot. After 6 years of full leg and bikinis I consider myself an expert on judging waxers. This salon has a very comfortable, friendly atmosphere, but is a long way from being upscale. For me that's a bonus, because I'm there to get my appointment, not water and tea and whatever else those salons offer. The price for a full leg was around $65, which I think is not great, but good for a city, when places like Sisters is charging $115! The waxer is cute and nice to talk to, although a little pushy about the other services they offer. I'm not going to say she did a perfect job, but I've paid that $115, and they didn't either! You're gonna find a stray here or there, but she did check over my legs for excess wax and patches very thoroughly! You're not going to find a better price (or service) in the city. read more

I absolutely love this place. Every time I have gone I have not waited for longer then 5-10 minutes for a walk in. I have gotten different people each time and each one has been equally meticulous and on the perfectionist side which I love! While the manicure may seem a bit fast, they know what they are doing and my nails come out looking perfect. The massages are the best! You get hand, arm, neck and shoulder massages. If you are looking for a super relaxing slow paced spa experience this may not be your place but if you need somewhere to get a manicure w relaxation and time efficiency, this is your place! I just moved out of the neighborhood and I'm SAD! I haven't found a place in my new neighborhood as great as Salon Excursion. The price of $35 for a pedi or $35 for a mani AND pedi Monday through Wednesday is unbeatable! Plus they give you all the extras - massage chair, hot towels, and a neck massage while you are drying. The owner lady is seriously the best "polisher" - for some reason her polish jobs always last longer than anyone else's. I've never had a bad technician, but -1 star because sometimes when I'm in a hurry, they take a ridiculously long time to finish the job. read more

I recently got a pedicure at Salon Excursion. While at the time everything seemed fine, 2 days later I developed a painful toe infection. I went to the doctor and while we can not confirm I developed the infection from Salon Excursion, we agreed it is very possible. For those who have never experienced it, toe infections are painful. Not only do they cause discomfort, but you need to take antibiotics for 10 to 14 days, so it will affect your social life! Oh, as a bonus, they take a while to ago away. Beware of this place. I had a great experience here but this place gave me toe nail fungus. I had a no chip mani and pedi this spring before vacation. As someone who NEVER goes out to get her nails done (have gotten one prior pedi years ago) it was easy to pinpoint the culprit when a couple of my toe nails became discolored and fragile. I lived in River North over the summer and Salon Excursion was my go-to. I tried a couple of other places in the area and the service here was definitely the best. I never a had a hard time getting in during the week. Their polish selection is extensive and numbered so you can remember the ones you like. Their chairs are also very comfortable, which is a nice plus. It's not the fanciest salon inside but they get the job done. My manicurists were always attentive and did a great job filing, cutting cuticles, and applying polish. One time I went across the street to grab a coffee afterwards and screwed up one of my nails *shame* and they happily fixed it for me without judging me. My favorite part about Salon Excursion is their shoulder massages. They have you put your head down at your station and massage your shoulders from the front. I've never had this done anywhere else but it's awesome. Then, when you move to the drying table, they give you ANOTHER shoulder massage. At $18 it's not the most affordable manicure, but I feel like the massages make it worth it. read more

This place is the only place I go for nails. I've been about ten times and never had a bad experience. The $35 dollar M-W mani/pedi special is the best deal you can get. When I had to leave early because I didn't have time to get the manicure, they gave me a coupon for a free manicure to use whenever, which I used like two months later. Excellent service! I got a pedi and I agree it took way longer than most I've had, Irene did a great job. She actually did a massage that was more than just patting my feet down and when I sat to have my toes dry she did a shoulder massage. I had the same issue as a pp that once I put closed toe shoes on my nails smudged. Luckily I am down the street and came back to have it fixed and there was no questions asked. read more

Tony is one of the hair stylist at Salon Excursion. He is extremely talented and knowledgeable about all things hair. He is friendly, talkative, and always eager to make you comfortable and happy. I have tried several stylists in the city at a variety of Aveda salons and Robert Jeffrey's, Tony is the best I have seen. He is also affordable and usually available with one week's notice. I have had nothing but great experiences the 7 times this year that I have been to Salon Excursion. I started highlighting my hair this year and JETON is the best!!! He always greats you with a big smile and great attitude. He always listens to what I really want and suggests what he thinks would work best. I recently took him a whole stack of magazine cutouts that I had found of the type of haircut that I wanted and he patiently sat with me and went through them one by one... HE IS THE BEST! I tried this place first because of the $35 mani/pedi sign out front. I've been back twice and have been very happy with the results each time. The price is unbeatable and everyone is extremely nice and professional, if a little difficult to understand at times (heavy accents, little english). I had not considered using the salon for a haircut, but was desperate after a bad experience at another very well-recommended salon. I walked in on a Saturday and was able to sneak in between appointments. What luck!! Lira was sweet, attentive, took her time although she had another client due. Walking in to someone you don't know anything about and trusting them to take care of you is scary - and I had just had the bad experience doing the same thing! My hair looks great after this cut - stylish and easy. Lira is very good and well worth the price ($55). I've paid much more for less satisfying results. I would recommend Lira to anyone. read more
