Although I loved the style and color on my hair, it made my hair very dry. Fast forward to last weekend when I came back to Naoto after about 2 years and he was able to touch up my balayage without bleach and color it exactly how I wanted. He was very efficient and patient with the process of touching up my balayage and making it darker, per my request. He's also very good at cutting my hair to how I like, and I ended with a very clean and voluminous look that is perfect for the wintertime! What I loved most though was that he took his time with the consultation in the beginning to make sure I got the style and color I wanted for my cut and balayage. He also made recommendations and asked for my permission when he wanted to cut more then I wanted in order to get rid of all my split ends.

Looooove Haru!!! I started coming here after a not so good experience at a different "high-end"…read moresalon in Ho-Ho-Kus. I asked for subtle balayage there, got bright blonde highlights, and was not offered or given a refund. The owner at the other salon fixed it, but the result lasted for about 2-3 weeks... and I was left with bright blonde highlights again. A few friend recommended Haru to me. I was given an appointment with Hadley. Immediately, I LOVED her! Hadley is friendly, warm, and completely understanding about hair. As someone who is self-admittedly fussy, Hadley listened to me and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted. Since then, I've been to Hadley MANY times and she's brought me from balayage to my natural brunette, cuts from shoulder length to halfway down my back, and dealt with my particularness about my bangs. Hadley is super talented and has a wonderful, bubbly personality. I love talking to everyone at the front desk as well, and really enjoy my time there! Additionally, I brought my boyfriend to Haru for a men's cut. He was styled by Sylvie, and she was also WONDERFUL! Best haircut he's ever had :) Next up I want to try the facials!

I take medications that have thinned out my hair and although I tried to explain that I had a bad color from another salon I used the as she put it again "crap" I used to cover up my awful color. I have no idea how this awful woman gets good reviews. I was treated this way as I was making an appointment before I left. That's when her awful comments came out in front of the two young women at the receptionist area. They said something to her but she just said "well I tell it like it is". Needless to say I phoned the salon and cancelled the appointment. So the point is unless you have a perfect head of hair, don't go to Mary.

UM NEW OWNER ALERT!!! And wow is it OBVIOUS!…read more I recently had the absolute JOY of visiting Moxie Bar, and let me tell you, it was like stepping into a self care, all about me world! First up, Jackson worked his magic on my hair. Not only was he ridiculously talented, but he also became my personal hair guru, dropping knowledge bombs like "Did you know this product could help with XYZ" without making me feel like I was in a lecture. My hair has never looked better, and I walked out of there feeling like I was finally in the know about how to help elevate my hair and give it the TLC it deserves. Then, Sofia took over with my makeup, and I swear, it was like meeting an old friend. We hit it off immediately (because also who doesn't love a good chit-chat while getting some glam?), and she made me feel so at ease that I forgot I was even sitting in a chair getting glammed up. Her skills were out of this world, she highlighted my features like a pro, but kept everything super natural. I have to admit, I was very surprised I loved it so much. I normally do my own makeup, but have to admit, girls got talent!! By the end, I felt like a million bucks you know, the kind of million bucks that doesn't even need a receipt. Honestly, walking out of Moxie Bar was like stepping into a whole new level of confidence and beauty. It was an unforgettable experience. Not only will I definitely be back, this new owner definitely knows what she's doing. Everyone was so nice and super talented. And the place is gorgeous. When you go, tell em Bri sent ya!

First the good stuff, friendly staff, welcoming with a smile, clean and attractive salon…read more However, I received the worst haircut of my life the other day from Angela. I wanted 2 inches cut off but then she suggested 4 which I agreed to. The problem was not the length she cut off but the hack job she did with cutting crazy layers in my hair. I went in with hair to the middle of my back and came out with hair to my shoulders which is fine. Unfortunately, she hacked away at my hair and created awkward and very short layers all over my head. Now it is impossible for me to wear my hair in a ponytail or a twist because of these layers--some are as short as two inches. And I showed her pictures of what I wanted which just had a face frame layer. Now that my hair is shorter it is frizzy and curly which only makes it even shorter. I actually want to cry when I look in the mirror now. And the kicker to all of this, when I go to pay, this awful haircut (no color) cost me $80!!! For a No frills salon next to a deli in Ho-Ho-Kus. Very disappointing and it will take months to grow out the damage.
