Avoid. I got a balayage done by the owner, Carol, and it is so wrong and bad.. the worst color I have ever received and I have never asked for a refund in my life and had the courage to because I had to get it redone through a different salon and it is expensive!! but she refused even after sending her pictures as she wanted me to come in and show her. That's so uncomfortable and inconvenient for me as a customer and I even tipped her 20%. All I asked for was a refund on the color. Not cut or tip. She just kept arguing, never apologized and just made the whole situation so uncomfortable and told me it was my fault. Poor customer service and owner of a business right there!! It is all orange & yellow, bulky looking highlights.. see my pics. She legit just bleached it and did "her balayage technique" and I have never had anyone do what she did. I've been getting this style done for years! I even showed her a picture of what I wanted (see last) and she just said okay and I trusted her professionalism to get it done... WRONG. She should have asked more questions if she didn't understand the photo instead of just saying okay and pretending she understood/walked away quickly as that gave me the impression she got it. She had good reviews so I figured she knew what she was doing. Avoid avoid avoid. This salon just moved from Downtown Charleston to Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant. No more driving around in search of a parking spot. Carol has been doing my hair for years and I am 100% satisfied. I love Carol's honesty and dedication to her customers. This new location is fresh and convenient. The only reason I didn't give it four stars is because my dream salon includes manicures, pedicures and all kinds of pampering. Still, I'm thankful for this place and I won't be searching for that 'dream salon' unless Carol decides to retire. read more

I've been going to see Carol for multiple years now. They used to be located downtown on King Street but relocated out to Mount Pleasant just over the bridge which makes parking super easy. I used to go for a cut but this year I started adding in a hair dye as well to keep away all the pesky grays. Carol is friendly and the prices are very reasonable for Charleston area. I can sometimes be a difficult customer because I am very particular about what I want, but Joey made me feel like he truly cared about me leaving 100% pleased with my hair, and I definitely did! The salon was easy to find and the atmosphere was relaxed. The products used were of the best quality and smelled amazing, and I could tell the other clients there at the time were very happy with their hair as well. The salon itself is lovely, the employees are very friendly and skilled, and the pricing is more than reasonable. I had an appointment with Brooke for a men's cut and color, and she did a FANTASTIC job! She was a joy to talk to, was very attentive to me, and the end result looks amazing! I had a fade for the cut, and the transitions between lengths are impeccably even. For the color, I wanted to go grey for fun, and the color is very even! I highly recommend you try these folks out! I usually don't get my hair done when I'm out of town but it was New Years and I needed a fresh blowout. I looked on Yelp for a salon close by and with good reviews. I was lucky and found this salon a short walk from my hotel on a busy street with shops and restaurants. I was able to book my appt. on Yelp which was cool. I received an email for my reservation. As I walked up the stairs I was a little surprised as the salon wasn't as fancy as I'm use to but I didn't judge. I was greeted by Tommy who was my stylist who did a great job for being his first time doing my hair. I walked in to the Salon at 302 King Street across from Roxy and quicksilver after being confused about the location. It is not on the 400 block like yelp says. The service was great! I made an appointment a head of time and the receptionist offered me a beer while I waited a couple minutes for my stylist to get the color ready. So, I had engagement photos scheduled for this past Sunday. Saturday evening, my MUA let's me know that she was uncomfortable doing hair, so in a panic I booked an appointment for Sunday morning at Salon Couture. (Woo-hoo! Open on a Sunday) I booked a shampoo, blow dry and style for $40 (bargain!!). We walked in and the place is as cute as can be. Katrina greeted us immediately and asked me what I was hoping for. She chatted with me through the entire process in a way that no other stylist has before. She actually cared to get to know me as a person instead of making small talk. Plus, her cute pup was there and sat right in my lap to keep me company. (Katrina did check to make sure I wasn't afraid of dogs before letting her dog come out of the office). I got my hair done for my wedding day this week and was not happy with the end result. Being crunched for time, I paid and left. I cried the entire way to my hotel. The style was teased to the Gods and was lop-sided and the back looked like a rats nest. My bridal party went into damage control and completely redone my hair. My stylist, Katrina, was very friendly and I enjoyed her, but she was not able to bring my vision to life. I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted, but somewhere we got lost in translation. I never been to a "real" hair salon in my life. But there were so many people talking about this place, so I had to give them a shot. I was blown away with the whole place as soon as I walked in. Great decor and the place didn't smell of that normal salon smell. I was greeted quickly and was quickly asked if I wanted a beverage or anything as I waited for my stylist to prepare for my haircut. That tripped me out. My haircut was done by Carol, who was dead on awesome. I didn't really have a preference for the haircut, but she gave me an awesome head of hair. Not to mention she was extremely nice and even got me talking the normal salon gibber jabber. (Which is something I never really did.) I am extremely happy with their service and I imagine they do awesome jobs with female hair. To the guys, get up on this level and get a haircut from them. I left allure salon because of the lack of care for their clients after 2 years. The first salon I tried, I found the best stylist I've ever had do my hair. I've been coloring my hair for about 15 years and for the past 3 I've been a bleach blonde. (White) My hair is hard to lift and can sometimes be aggravating and I HATE toner. My hair isn't an easy job. However, I was extremely impressed and will never see another stylist. Joey Grimm at Salon Couture has limitless talent and is just an amazing person. He does everything when it comes to hair and I would definitely recommend him for all hair needs. The cost is extremely reasonable and they also give discounts to students! Carol has been coloring my hair for about a year now. When I first came to her my previous stylist had damaged my hair and made a mess out of it. Carol gave me a sheek adorable bob and cut off the dead and tortured hair. The cut was ON POINT! and I was so pleased with the perfect new blonde color! Today I went back to have my hair colored PINK! I was so nervous because the look I was going for was very specific and wasn't sure if it would turn out the way I wanted. IT WAS JUST WHAT I WANTED! Perfection. Carol is professional, friendly but respects my privacy. Im not a big fan of gabbing through out my hair salon time, Carol shows interest but lets me have some calm and peace while I get my hair done. I just got my hair cut by Marco and it was AMAZING! I've been here before multiple times to see Kirsten, and she is fabulous as well! People stop me on the street to compliment my hair. The people here KNOW hair, and for such high-quality work, the prices are extremely reasonable. I love the vibe too-- it's on the second floor of a building on King Street with hardwood floor and lots of natural light. This is my second? Third time? Seeing Angela here. She's funny, approachable and honest. She listens to what I want for my hair but isn't afraid to tell me if she doesn't think it'll work out: I.e. low lights prior to a perm since the perm will lighten my hair and the low lights would then be a waste. She also knows when I don't feel like chatting (I'm a bartender and talk to people all day). She's quick and efficient. Honestly, what else could you need? I don't need someone who will let me make hair mistakes or make me feel uncomfortable or overcharge and under deliver. I am visiting Charleston, SC from Northern VA. I came in to see Marco, per reviews online, with a hair emergency. I had brown hair and asked for blonde highlights from the stylist in VA. I ended up with rainbow bright orange hair! And this was after not one attempt, but two attempts to fix it! I was devastated and didn't want to have to walk around with orange hair. Marco was empathetic, confident and surpassed my expectations. He is the consummate professional and spent 2.5 hours repairing the damage and gave me the exact hair color I requested in the first place. I just moved to Charleston from Columbia. I used to go to Shine with Laura - who is awesome!!! I have been using the devacurl product for a couple of years now. I used the DEVACURL websity to find a new stylist in Charleston and was directed to Salon Couture with Carol - HORRIBLE!! She CHOPPED my hair. I told her I wanted to keep the length and it is at least 3 inches shorter. She also layered and thinned out my hair - two thing Laura would never do to curly hair. She coated my hair with conditioner, root to tip, and did the same with the gel - another no-no for curly hair. My hair was crispy and disgusting after she put me under a REGULAR BLOW DRYER. I am extremely upset with this experience and don't understand how she could possibly be a devacurl stylist. If you have curly hair you might as well go somewhere else for less since she obviously does not specialize in curly hair. read more
